im current waiting my result from HUKM for suspected Nose cancers. But the result needs 3 weeks (till 8-July), so i plan to seek for other doctor advice at the same times, as I notice some purple dot is growing on my legs' skin and now it appeared on my shoulder and hands.

1. nasopharyngeal carcinoma
2. lymphoma
3. Kaposi Sarcome

I goolged and read some articles, seems most of the discussed ENT specialists are not necessary expert in cancers area. So can anyone suggest, beside 2 doctors below, any ENT cancer specialist can recommend to me please. As I feel like my body condition is not getting very well now, not sure 3 weeks time will have big impact or not.

1. Dr Vincent Tan - Klang KPJ
2. Dr Koay Cheng Eng - Sunway Med

Finally my new sinus medicine has arrived and i hv started using. Unfortunately it is not available in malaysia.
So far the results hv been encouraging. I am still considering whether to stop my nasonex and use this one instead, altho they can be used together. But if this one continue to work, one less medicine to my nose may not be a bad thing. This is a different class of nasal spray. Good luck to fellow sinus sufferers.

Dr Koay Cheng Eng was my ENT doctor in Sunway Med. Just an update on what happened to help those who need it.

I was admitted in January for two procedures Septoplasty (for Deviated Septum) and Turbine reduction.

After the surgery, i woke up to a sort of flat nose, freaked out and complained to Dr Koay about it. He took a look and told me that the Septoplasty might have be overly done caz my septum was very NOT straight. So of coz i asked him if i could fix it immediately since it looks bad, and after a day he agreed to do another surgery to push it up- Rhinoplasty if not mistaken.

After a week i was out of the hospital, and started recovering at home. The first month i would say, i still had some congestion, caz of the stitches (auto dissolve) mucus gets stuck on my nose and dries up so it blocks the air flow. Had to keep blowing and i think i may have blown too hard at times. After i couldnt take it anymore i told him to remove the stitches, which he did, and it was ok after that.

Since then, i had have good air flow with no congestion or sinus attacks for roughly 3-4 months. However recently, my nose has started to become blocked again. I suspect that the turbinate (whatever u call it) may have regrown causing it to block the air flow. I have to either take anti histamines or use the strong nose drops. Normal sprays like Nasonex wont work.

Anyways im thinking of seeing another ENT for second opinion now. Any suggestions? Someone in SJMC would be good, nearer to home.

Thanks.

Hi Cedriccheah,
I am having the same problem as you since CNY, coughing and taking lots of cough medicine and antibiotics but still the same.
After that decided to see Dr Gan in Mac 2013 to check on my throat but he check my nose for sinus problem.
He suggest that I go for FESS surgery. I agree to go for it because I thought it will solve my problem fast.

After for a month after the FESS surgery,I have the same problem back again and he suggested a revised surgery to rectify the
problem caused by scarred tissue. He said this surgery will definitely rectify my problem.
After the 2nd surgery, I feel better then the 1st because my ear is not block and my cough is better until now.
But mucus still flow down my throat and have to blow my nose quite often to clear it. Went back to see him again and he suggested
Balloon sinuplasty surgery. After reading what you have gone through and not getting well, I decided not to go for it.
It's about a month after the 2nd surgery, I still goes back weekly to clear mucus in my nose.
I am still hoping time will cure my throat and mucus will stop flowing then I will be well again.

How are you getting on since Dec 2012 until now? Hope you can give me some advise for my next step. Tq

I've been experiencing coughing and hoarseness. Also nausea and I had a slight fever. I think this might be due to LPR silent reflux. Anyone can suggest good ENT doctor who can resolve this problem?

Anyone ever experience this problem>

I highly recommend Dr Gan Tong Nee (ENT Specialist @ Sunway Medical Centre) for those who are suffering from sinus infection, stuffy nose or sinus headaches. He is very friendly and professional in his field.
I had my FESS surgery by Dr Gan Tong Nee last week. The procedure takes about an hour, and it does not hurt at all. The result was amazing and I can breathe so much better than before.

I have suffered from sinusitis for years, and I was taking all kind of medicine like Panadol, Zyrtec D, Clarinase and antihistamine etc.
I would recommend taking FESS surgery that solves all sinus problem, comparing to taking all kinds of medication that works for only sometime.

There is one product available and registered in Malaysia, contains the same ingredient of what you bought which is called Cromal AQ Nasal Spray. If you don't mind the product is from India then this will be much cheaper for you.

Thanks for the alternative!

I hv been using this spray for a month. So far the effect is good. If your steroid spray is not working, no harm giving this a try.

This is the same ingredient as the one you are using. They are both Non-Steroidal nasal spray. So are safer.

Yes I did see Dr Megat and he did the same clear my throat. He is a nice doc and adviced me to do more exercise and have enough rest.

I did as what he said and my cough is much better but until end year 2014 I have cough again!

Actually instead of going for surgery you better try this home make ginger drink.
A friend of mine gave me this recipe:

Ginger, garlic, lemon - all 15 pcs each
Apple cider - 1 bottle ( 1000 ml)
Honey - 1 bottle (1000 ml)

All mixed and boil for 1 1/2 hrs
Remember you need a claypot to boil.

After when it's cool down pour it in glass bottle to keep in refrigerator.
Every day first thing in the morning drink this before breakfast.
Mix 2 tablespoon with 1 quarter cup of warm water.

Actually it works from Jan 2015 until now I stop taking medicine and thank God my cough is gone and no more running nose !

Can anyone of you pls try this and share with us the outcome after few months.

Thank you.

My wife had a very bad experience with the unethical conduct of Dr John Tan Hong Guan (of SJMC) this morning.

Due to a recent intermittent loss of hearing since the beginning of her pregnancy my wife visited Dr. John Tan on the above mentioned date. The whole visit lasted approximately 5 minutes. She informed Dr. John Tan of her ear problem and was merely told that nothing was wrong as her ear drum was moving when she blows her ear.

Not satisfied with a mere ‘nothing is wrong’ and without any proper medical explanation/advice given, my wife further informed the Dr that she could not blow her ear as it hurts but rather what she has been doing to minimise the pain was by lying down on one side for some time. Dr John merely repeated what she informed and asked my wife to just lie down since she knows lying down helps. My wife told him it was not possible to be lying down all the time and he just smiled without providing further explanation. He then told my wife all the best to end the session. This whole event and conversation took less than 5 minutes.

When my wife was presented with the bill (as attached), she was shocked to see that she was being charged MYR570.32. As a foreigner, my wife was unsure if it was a mistake in the bill. She called me for help to speak to the Dr to find out the reason for the charges and to seek clarification on the procedure mentioned in the bill that justified such amount.

My wife managed to pass the phone to Dr John. Before I managed to finish my question to seek clarification on the exact procedure that was performed within the 3 minutes visit, he shut me off by telling me “I don’t know what you are asking. I don’t want to talk to you”. He walked off from the room leaving my wife alone in the room unattended.

My wife was stunned by such attitude of a medical practitioner. Such unethical conduct has completely tarnished the image of all the medical practitioners of Malaysia. Due to this experience, my wife has since refused to seek further medical advice from any Doctor in the country and opted to return to South Korea for treatment.

We had lodged a formal complaint to SJMC customer care.

We had lodged a formal complaint with SJMC and we are waiting for their investigation on this matter. Meanwhile, I am sure there are many other good and ethical doctors in Malaysia that treat patients with respect and care.

sorry to hear about your bad experience. More than 500 bucks for a 5 mins consultation is ridiculous. I do not go to SJMC because I find their doctors very arrogant and think they're too good to explain to patients. I've been looked down upon when i went for a body check up. I've visited their ENT(forgot the name) once and never return anymore.
