Hi guys,
Went to see DR Koay Eng Cheng yday at Sunway Med. Was told that i will need to go thru two procedures:
i)Septoplasty (to correct the deviated septum) ii)Turbinectomy (remove some meat which is causing the swelling in one nostril)
Just want to hear from those who have gone thru these procedures? Is it necessary? Does it solve the problem and will the problem recur again in the near future? Also any complications that may arise from it and how long to fully recover after the operation?
This is my first time undergoing any sort of surgery/procedure therefore im quite nervous and do not know what to expect.
Also is Dr Koay Eng Cheng any good? Anyone experienced surgery under him before?
Pls share and thank u very much for the input.

Dr Koay Cheng Eng was my ENT doctor in Sunway Med. Just an update on what happened to help those who need it.
I was admitted in January for two procedures Septoplasty (for Deviated Septum) and Turbine reduction.
After the surgery, i woke up to a sort of flat nose, freaked out and complained to Dr Koay about it. He took a look and told me that the Septoplasty might have be overly done caz my septum was very NOT straight. So of coz i asked him if i could fix it immediately since it looks bad, and after a day he agreed to do another surgery to push it up- Rhinoplasty if not mistaken.
After a week i was out of the hospital, and started recovering at home. The first month i would say, i still had some congestion, caz of the stitches (auto dissolve) mucus gets stuck on my nose and dries up so it blocks the air flow. Had to keep blowing and i think i may have blown too hard at times. After i couldnt take it anymore i told him to remove the stitches, which he did, and it was ok after that.
Since then, i had have good air flow with no congestion or sinus attacks for roughly 3-4 months. However recently, my nose has started to become blocked again. I suspect that the turbinate (whatever u call it) may have regrown causing it to block the air flow. I have to either take anti histamines or use the strong nose drops. Normal sprays like Nasonex wont work.
Anyways im thinking of seeing another ENT for second opinion now. Any suggestions? Someone in SJMC would be good, nearer to home.
Thanks.
