If you are in Cheras, then you should visit HUKM Specialist Center.
There have several ENT specialist over there and each of them have their own subspecialty. I hv consulted Dr Balwant Singh before at HUKM. He has clinic on Sat morning and he is very detailed person. Pls call to make appointment as Sat can be packed. If I am not mistaken, Dr Balwant's sub specialty is more towards nasal rather than ear. |

QUOTE(aaronportnoy @ Jul 27 2015, 04:01 PM) Dr Koay Cheng Eng was my ENT doctor in Sunway Med. Just an update on what happened to help those who need it. hello, how much is your damage after surgery?I was admitted in January for two procedures Septoplasty (for Deviated Septum) and Turbine reduction. After the surgery, i woke up to a sort of flat nose, freaked out and complained to Dr Koay about it. He took a look and told me that the Septoplasty might have be overly done caz my septum was very NOT straight. So of coz i asked him if i could fix it immediately since it looks bad, and after a day he agreed to do another surgery to push it up- Rhinoplasty if not mistaken. After a week i was out of the hospital, and started recovering at home. The first month i would say, i still had some congestion, caz of the stitches (auto dissolve) mucus gets stuck on my nose and dries up so it blocks the air flow. Had to keep blowing and i think i may have blown too hard at times. After i couldnt take it anymore i told him to remove the stitches, which he did, and it was ok after that. Since then, i had have good air flow with no congestion or sinus attacks for roughly 3-4 months. However recently, my nose has started to become blocked again. I suspect that the turbinate (whatever u call it) may have regrown causing it to block the air flow. I have to either take anti histamines or use the strong nose drops. Normal sprays like Nasonex wont work. Anyways im thinking of seeing another ENT for second opinion now. Any suggestions? Someone in SJMC would be good, nearer to home. Thanks. |

QUOTE(ExCrIpT @ Oct 14 2015, 03:38 AM) sorry to hear about your bad experience. More than 500 bucks for a 5 mins consultation is ridiculous. I do not go to SJMC because I find their doctors very arrogant and think they're too good to explain to patients. I've been looked down upon when i went for a body check up. I've visited their ENT(forgot the name) once and never return anymore. Herm. Dr Tan ay? Same here.Ask hin whatever question also reply as " nothing is wrong" " take meds will do" a face like tell: i tell u u also wont faham one la" Consultation took 2-3mins? Damage in waller rm420. One bar antibiotic and another bar donno what meds. I work around subang jaya and stay at puchong area. Searching for 2nd ENT doc now. Any advise? |

QUOTE(kyl901 @ Aug 3 2015, 06:21 PM) I highly recommend Dr Gan Tong Nee (ENT Specialist @ Sunway Medical Centre) for those who are suffering from sinus infection, stuffy nose or sinus headaches. He is very friendly and professional in his field. what does a fess surgery do?I had my FESS surgery by Dr Gan Tong Nee last week. The procedure takes about an hour, and it does not hurt at all. The result was amazing and I can breathe so much better than before. I have suffered from sinusitis for years, and I was taking all kind of medicine like Panadol, Zyrtec D, Clarinase and antihistamine etc. I would recommend taking FESS surgery that solves all sinus problem, comparing to taking all kinds of medication that works for only sometime. [attachmentid=4686566] how much does it cost? |

Dear all,
I need some help here. My son has crooked inner nose bone (just like me 25 years ago). Sorry i did not know what is the medical term for this kind of problem. The crooked nose inner bone blocked some of the airway passage, so he has difficulty to breathe at one side of the nose. I did the same surgery 25 years ago in melaka. Now we live in Subang Jaya, we went to UMSC for checking, but did not like the environment there. We decided to get it done at Sunway Medical. From this thread, I can see there are few ENT specialists in Sunway Medical. Could anyone recommend a good ENT that will take good care of my kid? My kid is 17 years old. Thanks a lot in advance. QUOTE(tkyong1 @ Feb 16 2016, 11:41 AM) Thanks mate, really appreciate your information. Ya, I used to have issues with my sinus and tonsils and I had to find a good ENT for my surgeries. Searching for a good ENT is not so easy these days, so many choices. Bear in mind the waiting time to visit him is quite long even with appointment made. I got there 15 minutes after his clinic opened and I still have to wait 45 mins for my turn as there were quite a number already ahead of me. |

Quite a number of ppl were discussing about it and the court case report is also available online. Seriously I dont know why anybody care about his personal life . But he back practicing already. His clinic is just right beside his older brother's clinic I just had a very good surgery experience with Dr. Koay Cheng Boon . My case was i had sinus headaches time to time , then after recent haze in malaysia i had flue twice followed by serious Chronic Sinus . To be honest I am kind of person who will avoid doctors , medicines and hospitals at max . So it was really worst facial pressure and pain and i had to go to the hospital I went to KPJ Damansara , nearby ( i had above average experience in past with KPJ) after basic emergency procedure i was sent for CT Scan and later was informed i have Chronic sinusitis and there is a pollyp Right after that doctor advised since its Chinese new year doctor is on leave but if you are not feeling well you can get admitted and He will make sure ENT doctor will come the same day . Doctor came the same day , i was admitted for 4 days there , with antibiotic and nasal steroids started to feel better . Dr Awal Hassan told me if I do surgery that would be the ultimate resolution since the polyp is there . I dont know if there was communication gap or what , I was not really satisfied with his consultation , though he is a good doctor and have a huge line of patients all the time , but didnt fancy me . I asked him for a discharge and promised if anything goes wrong i will be back for surgery . I wanted a second opinion . i took 2 days rest at home the facial pressure was coming back , so i found out through this forum about Dr. Koay Cheng Boon , I was willing to give a shot . I scheduled an appointment and went to meet him , The first thing after he looked at my CT SCan Report and general check-up he told me there is no polyp . and even if there is you can not tell from CT Brain scan which was done at KPJ , He advised you have sinus problem and you should do CT Sinus Scan . which made sense to me , so i did and i got Radiology report there is no polyp , but there is infection which needs attention DR KCB very straight forward , experienced and confident advised , we normally go about following antibiotics process but you have already been on antibiotics i think you should go for surgery , He convinced me and i got it done its been a week and my Nasal dressing is out as well , I have a relief now , I can feel i am recovering and i will be much better than before . Key takeaways from my experience 1 Always go for second opinion . 2. Be always skeptical about what hospital and doctor says , until they can satisfy you 3. Specifically for Sinusitis , every individual have different problem and different treatment , whats required or happend with somone might not happen with yo u 4. once you trust the doctor , trust him fully 5. Always Search lowyat forums for answers if anyone need references , my reports i am happy to provide , at one point i was thinking to complain about KPJ to MMC , but i really dont want to get into trouble , that why sharing my experience in lowyat to aware all of you , just to be informed , I will definitely recommend Dr Koay Cheng Boon and Sunway Medical |

But even during those times years I've been visiting his clinic. I know and have heard that his brother is a lot better than him but it's just too expensive cuz his clinic is in gleneagles. Again I repeat Cheng boon is good but his older bro is just better in terms of skills and attitude as well This post has been edited by ExCrIpT: Feb 20 2016, 07:30 PM |
