About the camera lens scratching the lens, I didn't experience it on my 1st n97, zitron set.
Now I am on my 2nd n97, avaxx set. I had this problem twice and I sent it to the NCC to get the back cover replaced.
Now, there is no more problem. So I think it depends on the back cover's origin.

edit : but I thought ours are made in China only? hmm

been using the camera on mine (white zitron) almost everyday checked the lens yesterday and didn't notice any scratch.. phewww!!!!. Dang.. to have scratches on the lense is definitely crossing the line la.. I'm ok with having to restart phone once in a while and help the phone figure out where to connect to and telling it it's ok that they can't connect to the wifi coz we're not at home anymore (the thing beeping so helplessly when certain wifi signal is lost.. poor thing) but to get scratches on lense because of design flaw? totally unacceptable.

Wondering though.. does other phones have as much problems as N97? I mean if we get a different phone that's also just launched.. will there still be bugs and having to restart phone and all that?

Guys, I just finished installing a bodyguardz onto my n97, and it looks great!
I'll upload some pics later, now it is still in recovery mode.
By the way I have 1 set of bodyguardz left, but the spray has finished. So who wants?

I've been debating on N97 and the Iphone 3GS, most friends recommending the latter but after reading this thread I'm going with the n97. After all, I'm really after a smart phone.

I've surveyed 2 shops, one in Carrefour subang jaya. Selling ap phone for 2.1k.
The other shop is nokia shop in Amcorp selling for 2.35k ori.

Any bro here can recommend a trusted shop for me to buy from in KL or subang, shah alam, bangsar vicinity?

My main use will be GPS, Microsoft office, modem for computer, camera and games... Will the shop help me set up the phone properly?

Also, do they allow me to test the phone first? Hear the speaker and receiver, check the camera pictures, LCD pixels, speed etc etc? Also do they help with installing applications there and then and also latest firmware?

Not a pro user, but willing to learn. Btw, I've been using ipaq for nearly 3 years now. But lately the phone reception and connectivity is awful. Hopefully, n97 as a phone does not have such problems.

Thanks for any advise.

I'm currently using an Omnia, eyeing for a N97... after reading all the cons, maybe I should reconsider getting one.

Regarding the lens scratches problem, I've read about some user's experience & found out that some N97 have the lens cover's cushion 'touching' the lens while some don't.
That's why it will cause scratches if it is touching the lens, more if it caught some dust.
So, make sure you check the lens cover's blue cushion by sliding it a few times to see if the unit is actually 'touching' the lens before purchasing it.

And regarding the 'phone keeps on restart by itself' problem, I've also read about it from a gadget magazine, that it MIGHT be caused of Virus.
This is especially if you installed some 3rd party / unsigned programs or have other people install stuffs into your phone.
Might consider getting a Mobile Anti Virus program.

Just a suggestion...

YES it is useful because Ad-Hoc wifi doesn't require additional hardware purchase (e.g pairing another notebook with another notebook)

I am able to share a direct broadband dialup connection via ad-hoc wifi with another notebook BUT when tried to use the same method to share LAN internet connection via Ad-Hoc wifi, I was unsuccessful. Try to share the internet connection so that the phone can go on to internet via WLAN.
