I dont think so. because yesterday i've done it at kuala kangsar which is far away from my current location.. both using garmin , same version , map also same version.. A-gps turned off.. start garmin in the same car at the same time..
but n97 locked damn fast.. and pathetically 5800 takes time.. maybe its my luck , used to get 5800 with very slow locked gps , now got n97 fast locked one.. lol..

go setting, app then find for positiong.
make sure ur access point for both is the same, both is using 3g or gprs or none.

and positioning server set to "always ask", then u can select either connect to satelite thru telco or not in garmin start up.

normally phone default from connect thru gprs/3g, then to satelite, then u will be charge grps data from telco rm0.10...so faster

didn't care wat version wat map u use to connect to satelite --->"both using garmin , same version , map also same version.. A-gps turned off.. start garmin in the same car at the same time.."

where's ts ? want put my name on the black team ! lol
i've compared my n97 and my 5800.. seems to be 5800 speakers are much better.. in other side.. n97 gps , locked fast like hell.. i open garmin take only 10-15 seconds to lock , where my 5800 take around 3 minutes , sometimes even 10 minutes.. touch responsive on n97 much better , and for sure the camera on n97 are better than the idiot 5800 cam.. lol
home screen damn nice liao.. heh
so my conclusion is , i'm very satisfied to upgrade to n97 from 5800.. smile.gif

Welcome to the team thumbup.gif

Anyway, N97 basically sucks in GPS when it were v11 (for me). I wonder why. After I upgrade to v12, the GPS locked fast. took 10 second to locked. Anyway, I'm happy you satisfied with the upgrade. By the way, why don't you wait for v20 with full kinetic scroll on N97. It'll be release this october. For Malaysia, maybe November or December doh.gif

my gps on n97, v11 locks on within seconds, if not, max 10 seconds, but i use data plan, and i use A-gps, probably thats why?

anyhow, gps locking depends on your last position locked on as well, it kind of memorises where u locked on last, and search for your fix from there.. so if ur last locked on was at london, it may take an hour before it reaches your current position i think, that is why on garmin, while it is searching for a valid fix, u can actually put in new position, its like telling the gps where ur rough position is, then it locks on slightly faster..

this only applicable to those who do not use A-gps, cause with A-gps, it locks on within seconds.

and yeah.. awaiting eagerly for v12, or v2.0.. makes me drool

finally i found a video converter which plays full resolution!

google for "n97 best video format"

Nokia N97: Video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash Video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4; the video resolution is 360*640. Audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
