Maxis has a discriminatory pricing to users. Users who have gotten their iPhone overseas can't go on the iValue plan. Wtf?

Not in defense of Maxis but to be fair, the iValue plans are specifically designed to be tied to purchases of iPhones from them. So, how can one insist that he be allowed to get the plan when he did not or would not want to buy an iPhone from Maxis?

Just like they would not entertain any warranty claims for your iPhone bought elsewhere.

erm, then maxis is not alone then.

out of top of my head, three australia doesn't allow such provisions as well.

well, since it is discriminatory, i'm surprised that no one has sued three under the TPA yet? unless it is not an unfair practice disguise/discriminatory at all?

excuse me smile.gif
Maxis has a choice here... why can't they offer special pricing to their iPhone customer? they are offering iValue with iPhone purchase from them.
Since they are subsidising the phone, why should they offer iPhone packages to overseas iPhones?

if you think this plan is discriminatory, the only way to affect Maxis is to switch to another carrier. Nothing else will work... cos they're still getting your money and money talks smile.gif

well said to both of you. however if NekoRacing still fails to see the logic behind this despite your brilliant explanations, i cannot think of a more decent one

my GF bought iphone 3g 8GB at maxis roadshow at the gardens last week...got the iphone on the spot...

she opted for hotlink plan... rm1990... insisted for installment using maybank cc...but they said installment only for contract base package (ivalue, idata & bla bla bla)...not hotlink package....for me it's another discrimination... me & she dont want any commitment...we're happy with our value plus 50 + family plus 30.....

so never mind la...cannot installment....so i said the free 500MB/month for hotlink can be registered for my existing hotlink number (which been used not on iphone la of course....i used it on k630i SE).... the lady at the counter said it is activated immediately, ...so 500MB free la....that nite i tried to surf internet with the hotlink simcard (using k630i)....& suddenly my credit balance drop.... so what the conclusion haa ?? that 500MB must be used on iphone only or what ??? they can detect ha if use the data not from iphone ?? hmm.gif

Read through the previous pages. Many forumers confirm the activate 500Mb free data will take few days to 1 week. Wait until you get the SMS confirmation from Maxis on your free 500Mb data before use.

@NekoRacing,
It beats me Y U would want to sign on to the iValue plans. Everyone knows the iValue plans aren't "great" plans, and that they're $-making plans. You're better off with a Value Plus sign + iData plan instead [I read users can now subscribe to the iData].

@bonzaimy,
The 500MB has always been on the plan; it didn't just start yesterday.

@he-sham,
No there will be no SMS or information from Maxis once u have used up ur 500MB data. It'll just start to charge U. It's best if U checked ur usage once in a while via Settings/Usage.

The 500MB will reset depending on ur bill cycle; for example if it was activated on the 20th of the month, it will reset every 19th.

To be frank, I never exceed the limit of 500MB on my data usage but yet I still get charged sometimes.

I also think its weird that people wanna sign up for Ivalue plan without buying the phone at discount. The I-value plan is designed to get back
the discount from you but give you 500mb data every month. Reason:

I-Value 100 - RM100 --> 333 minute = 30 cents per minute

Value 50 --> 1 minute 15 cents

You're paying double for Ivalue compare to Value 50. So its not making sense anyone want to sign up for Ivalue plan... doh.gif

That's weird. What kind of charges did you see in your bill? 3G call is not data. What else is not data? hmm.gif

i went to maxis centre.. they told me the rm100 is rm50 for the 333 minutes and rm50 for the 500Mb data. so i think its still 1 minute 15 cents.. unless i'm told wrongly..

Does iPhone has video call feature?

Whenever app that requires data is where the 500MB sucks out, unfortunately it's not sometimes. I'm on prepaid and I can monitor my credit unlike postpaid where you have to wait for monthly bill for conclusion.

No video call. U will use a lot of data by online or playing online games. Email will also use some data.

And you can monitor the usage in the usage area under setting. How accurate it is compared to the maxis system is another question.
