yes. you will need to bring along the principal owner as the only the owner has the authority to get the registration done.

Alternative way of doing this is to get an authorization letter from the Principal Line holder with the photostat IC of the principal as well and bring it during registration. I did that back then coz my principal line was too busy to go with me.

Remains as HYC and the free 500mb is monthly for 12 months.

@derlin,
U mean Maxis sold U the i3GS without U bringing ur principal line owner?! Now that's weird because when I spoke with them several times they said it can't be done and that the line owner needs to be present; because contracts need to be signed and that can't be signed on behalf of the line owner.

@deepan84,
Could the other RM500 be pre/advanced payment for something? Check ur bill.

i only paid the 200bucks prepayment. maybe it could be for the data charges so your line wont be barred for usin 500mb.. so can any1 clarify how they prsent the rebate for the data. will it be charged and then deducted from ur bill at d end of the mth?

@tinkerbel,

I've never tried it for iPhone purchase but Authorization Letter from the main principal holder (A nicely drafted letter with the owner's signature stating that the principal holder gave you the power and also with a photocopy IC of the principal holder attached) has always been around and I've used it before with Maxis for various reasons back then (My principal line was never free sleep.gif) and Maxis accepted it without any questions asked.

If my principal line is staying overseas and never to take a step back in Malaysia, so that means I can never buy an iPhone from Maxis as a supplementary line? Doesn't make sense to me.. But then again, we're in Malaysia, I might be wrong. smile.gif

iPhone 3G? Yes
iPhone 3GS? Depends on your luck. Looking at how a lot of people have yet to get their phones, perhaps unlikely at this juncture.

they will replace with a new set right?

I've noticed this line on the iData page
"iData plan can also be purchased separately. The price of the iPhone will be at RRP."

Does it mean that even if I'm on Value First plan or standard plan, I can sign up for any of the iData plans provided I have to pay full price for the phone??

@eyes98:
in most cases, your unit will be replaced with a new refurbished set. the waiting period is subjective as its stock-dependant.

@tskhang:

i believe that only valid for iData 1, RM30 for 250MB without contract.

So does it mean that I can subscribe to iData1 eventhough I am on the Value First RM30 or standard plan?
Cause the term purchased separately sounds kind of ambiguous.
I mean you have no choice already if you want to get an iPhone, you'll need to sign up an iData plan for existing postpaid customer.
So why the term.

@eyez98:
you're welcome. smile.gif

@tskhang:

err i don't think it applies to Value First 30 but you can try to reconfirm with Maxis. the term can be purchased separately means that disregard of postpaid plans you're on right now (as long as its VP 50 and above), you can subscribe to iData. and for iData 1, there's no contract involved, hence the price of iPhone will be at RRP.

there are 3 options in getting iPhone 3G/3GS from Maxis:
1. iValue (switch from current postpaid plans or register a new line)
2. iData (pair with current postpaid plan)
3. Hotlink (current prepaid number or get a new one)

@derlin,
I spoke and have asked the CS and the answer has always been cannot. The reason as I've mentioned is because a contract needs to be signed and the contract can't be signed by YOU even if you've been authorised.

I told the Maxis fella I'm getting the iPhone on behalf of my brother who happens to be in AU but she told me it can't be done.

Alright, I've just called Maxis Customer Service, and clarified the term "iData plan can also be purchased separately. The price of the iPhone will be at RRP."

According to her, basically, no matter what plan you are currently holding (Value First 30, Value Plus Plan, Standard Plan), you have the option to purchase any of the iData plans (1,2 & 3), provided you pay the full price of the iPhone. And it does not come with a contract, since you already paid the iPhone in full.

I hope Tinkerbell can confirm with your insider, afraid the consultant might be talking crap. However, she does sound confident about this.

@tskhang,
The iData 1/2/3 phone plans are add-on plans and if U purchase iData 2/3 plans U will get some sort of subsidy off the i3GS. Assuming U don't register for the iData plans, when U want to subscribe U will need to either subscribe to the RM5, RM8 or RM99 plans until Maxis introduces other plans.

PS: Assuming I now want to subscribe to iData 2, Maxis won't allow me to do that because I just don't qualify.
