I've noticed this line on the iData page
"iData plan can also be purchased separately. The price of the iPhone will be at RRP."

Does it mean that even if I'm on Value First plan or standard plan, I can sign up for any of the iData plans provided I have to pay full price for the phone??

i believe that only valid for iData 1, RM30 for 250MB without contract.

So does it mean that I can subscribe to iData1 eventhough I am on the Value First RM30 or standard plan?
Cause the term purchased separately sounds kind of ambiguous.
I mean you have no choice already if you want to get an iPhone, you'll need to sign up an iData plan for existing postpaid customer.
So why the term.

Alright, I've just called Maxis Customer Service, and clarified the term "iData plan can also be purchased separately. The price of the iPhone will be at RRP."

According to her, basically, no matter what plan you are currently holding (Value First 30, Value Plus Plan, Standard Plan), you have the option to purchase any of the iData plans (1,2 & 3), provided you pay the full price of the iPhone. And it does not come with a contract, since you already paid the iPhone in full.

I hope Tinkerbell can confirm with your insider, afraid the consultant might be talking crap. However, she does sound confident about this.

@tskhang,
The iData 1/2/3 phone plans are add-on plans and if U purchase iData 2/3 plans U will get some sort of subsidy off the i3GS.  Assuming U don't register for the iData plans, when U want to subscribe U will need to either subscribe to the RM5, RM8 or RM99 plans until Maxis introduces other plans.

PS: Assuming I now want to subscribe to iData 2, Maxis won't allow me to do that because I just don't qualify.

Yes, iData plans must be accompanied with the purchase of the iPhone.
However, you can choose to sign up with contract to get a subsidy on the iPhone(provided you must be existing Value Plus Plan as depicted on their website).
OR
You can choose any of the iData plans without contract, no matter what plan you are currently on. It must be accompanied with the purchase of the iPhone but at a full price.

This is what was told to me by the consultant.

@tskhang,
Hmm.. that could be something new but it doesn't make sense to me because the last I checked, the iData plans are only applicable for the iPhone.  So what you're saying is that I can pay for the phone (full price) and still sign on to iData plans except I don't have a certain contract period.

This is new information but most people wouldn't do that lah.  For me, my cousin from Germany wanted a set and since I'm oredi on iData 3, I figured I'll save RM500 locking myself on a 12 month plan.

Yes, this was the reply from the consultant that I spoke to.
I noticed this term on their website and am a bit curious as to what it means.
I mean why have the term "iData purchased separately, but iPhone at RRP" there if your are already surely have to sign up for the iData plan. I mean knowing Maxis, which is very "good" at their terms & conditions, it did not specify either iData 1, 2 or 3.

I mean if this is true, then you have an alternative to buying the iPhone outright while sticking to your postpaid plan, and with no strings attached. Meaning to say, you can change the iData plan at any time.

However, please do reconfirm this by calling them. It could be the consultant that I spoke to is talking crap. Who knows.

Value Plus 50 + iData2

You cannot choose iData1 since it is not contracted, so you cannot do booking.

I'm on Value First now and I wonder if this can be paired with iData. In the Maxis site shows the lowest is VP50.

You need at least Value Plus 50 at minimum to pair with iData.
