err..now i am confused.

The 500mb data rate you get is per month or per year?

Cause in prepaid plan, it's written "FREE 500 MB data for 12 months".

And in idata 2 plan, it is under the monthly fee RM50 column.

@abubin,
What are U trying to ask? If you're referring to prepaid purchases then there's a FOC 500MB of data usage per month for 12 months.

If U subscribe to iData2 then U pay RM50 for 500MB data usage p/month.

@viosowner

Hey bro, thanks for explaining in detail about the process. So the change only takes like 10 mins? That's fast man. Do I have to do the conversion at authorised maxis dealers or at any handphone shop? Haha.

ok ok that means both plan also have 500MB per month. I thought the prepaid one is 500MB per year.

@abubin,
Yes but one is paid and one is not paid. The iData plan will be contractable for either 12/24 months whilst the prepaid one is not contractable.

That's why always read the terms and conditions...

arhh...ok ok thanks. Now it's all clear. Seems like prepaid also more suitable to me cause my usage also very low. But i do call out to overseas sometimes, will that be problem for prepaid user?

Also what about GPS function for iphone? Need to pay extra to use GPS function in iphone? Research shows iphone using aGPS which uses communication towers to get positioning. Is that extra services from service provider?

@abubin,
I'm not sure what the call rates are for overseas calls but U could always use those IDD cards and make the call from a landline.

sometimes i do not have landline. Have to use mobile phone to call oversea. As long as can call out, i don't mind slightly higher rate cause it's not very often.

Damn...i think the RM400 difference (for buying iphone) for idata RM50 I can save back with prepaid roughly RM30 per month. My subline also change to prepaid.

Call charges on prepaid's usually much higher than those offered on post paid basis hence I'm not surprised at the sudden decrease in bill.

Hence, our suggestion for those heavy usage callers to go with a post paid plan than to go with a prepaid plan

@viosowner,
Er.. the RM8.80 pack should come with RM4 credit inside the pack and not 30 sen!!!  shocking.gif

tink,

nope. for conversion, they dont give u the rm8.80 package. tat is for totally non-maxis New user. For conversion they just give u a 'package lengkap' sim card with rm0.30 in it. damn! shakehead.gif

am already using the hotlink sim now. i quickly activate active10 the next day. now enjoying 1sens/sms thumbup.gif

I know there's a penalty if you downgrade your plan eg. iValue 155 to iValue100, but what if it's the other way round.. as in upgrading? I'm sure there isn't any penalties. There should be more than happy to eat up more $$ from me, no?

@victorchew,
If U don't intend to use your i3GS for Internet Tethering purposes, perhaps U could even consider the iData 2 plan.

Btw does anyone know, assuming I signed up with iData 2, can I upgrade to iData 3 later on?  Is that allowed?
*
My 1st plan is for using it as Internet Tethering and maybe cancel my streamyx by that time.
Taking iData2 instead of 3 is good but the initial cost for the iPhone is higher.
So I maybe just stick back to iData 3.

Another questions.
iValue3, how many is for phone call and how many is data for the RM250?

@victorchew,
Please refer to http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1091499 for information on iValue3 plans.

Oh dear.. I forgot to ask about upgrading and downgrading of iData plans! *ish* Nm.. I check with my Maxis Insider when I see him tomorrow night.

Are you sure 28th?

I went to the Maxis Store in Jusco Sri Kembangan, they said "EARLIEST" 31st July, but maybe later in August.....

I just paid the deposit for iData 3 for 32gb iPhone

Hey guys, thanks for your replies yesterday. I just read it. And it seems that prepaid fits me the best.

Has anyone here attempt to change postpaid to prepaid already ? I am thinking on whether should I apply for the change now, or during the 3gs collection day. Lol.
*
Change to postpaid to prepaid is no easy feat. Need about 2-3 working days. First you have to port out. Lets say to Digi and port back to hotlink. I don't know now if they allow you to port straight from postpaid to prepaid. Mine is based on older times.

it is the most convenient place to pick up the phone for me.

neways, is it true that even if we book the phones. chances are that there might not be enough of phone for all that booked.??

or the Salesperson is just pulling a fast one.?
*
It might be true since so many have applied for iphone and no deposit confirmation is given from maxis via sms or email. No queue booking system etc etc etc. Maxis might just be happily collecting deposits now only.

Currently I'm using iValue 2 which is RM155 per month, and I've supplemented 3 lines for my family, so if I want to get an iPhone 3G S 16GB, means I've to pay RM1290 just for the phone, and sign up the contract for 2 year and prepayment of RM620(equivalent to 4 months) right? Means I do not need to pay my monthly fee of RM155 for 4 months? Contract of 2 year mean within 2 year I cannot cancel the line right? Besides the payment that have listed on the rate plan, any extra payment for getting iPhone 3G S?

PS: Can I sell the iPhone within the 2 year?
