QUOTE(azrilyp @ Jul 22 2009, 11:42 AM) @tinkerbel thanks for the advice. main reason i'm looking at it coz i got phone allowance from my company but up to a limit. and i didnt make much call mostly around RM40-50 per month. therefore best i convert to prepaid. btw, any charge in converting? i can still keep my number rite? Added on July 22, 2009, 11:48 amhmm.. ipod touch? not a bad suggestion. only thing is no camera. any news on next gen iPod Touch with camera? try not to change to prepaid. The charges for your calls and sms is much more expensive. Stick with valueplus 50 plan. This RM50 per month include your call credit. Get the ivalue50 1year contract. This allow you to buy the phone at RM2090 (16gb version). You also get 500mb of data usage. Yet still maintain RM50 per month if you don't call much. If you change to prepaid, you will most probably end up paying more for the data alone.

err..now i am confused.
The 500mb data rate you get is per month or per year?
Cause in prepaid plan, it's written "FREE 500 MB data for 12 months".
And in idata 2 plan, it is under the monthly fee RM50 column.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 22 2009, 03:43 PM) @abubin, What are U trying to ask? If you're referring to prepaid purchases then there's a FOC 500MB of data usage per month for 12 months. If U subscribe to iData2 then U pay RM50 for 500MB data usage p/month. ok ok that means both plan also have 500MB per month. I thought the prepaid one is 500MB per year.

arhh...ok ok thanks. Now it's all clear. Seems like prepaid also more suitable to me cause my usage also very low. But i do call out to overseas sometimes, will that be problem for prepaid user?
Also what about GPS function for iphone? Need to pay extra to use GPS function in iphone? Research shows iphone using aGPS which uses communication towers to get positioning. Is that extra services from service provider?

sometimes i do not have landline. Have to use mobile phone to call oversea. As long as can call out, i don't mind slightly higher rate cause it's not very often.
Damn...i think the RM400 difference (for buying iphone) for idata RM50 I can save back with prepaid roughly RM30 per month. My subline also change to prepaid.

if you do youtube a lot, 500mb is definitely not enough. Even moderate usage also not enough.
Cause 1 movie is already around 10-20mb. You watch 10 is already 100mb-200mb. One month can easily go more than 10.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 26 2009, 11:18 AM) @mac.tay, I'm quite sure the new plan will be introduced only after the i3GS launch. The introduction of this new plans aren't really meant for iPhone users but then again.. muAHahAHha IMHO if Maxis doesn't introduce it, they stand to make more $ If I am maxis, new plan will definitely be intro after the launch. Or at least after a while until all the first wave of people are done with getting the iphone 3gs. These first wave or new gadgets adopters will usually pay higher price to be "first". Then left over will be in the second wave. I guess maxis learned their lesson from the first iphones with which they made losses (i think). Added on July 27, 2009, 8:31 amQUOTE(zc_squash @ Jul 27 2009, 08:25 AM) 1. Yes 2. Ask yourself? 3. You'll have to keep your Hotlink line active to receive the 500mb data. Read more at Hotlink website. 4. Ask yourself? It's okay if don't get the 500mb if hotlink users switch to someone else. At least there are no contract and no penalty for it. yah..i agree..i mean the phone contract and not the marriage contract...24 months is too long. Anything can happen after 1 year. Maybe by that time, you can switch to other more saving plans. Me going to 12 months only. I also called up call center and asked whether I can change my plan. The operator said can but not in a very convincing manner. But I don't see why not. Only phone cannot change. I booked black 16gb...

huh? That means idata plans need to pay RM50 on top of the existing value plus plan that I am using??! Darn!
That would be RM100 per month already.
I am already value plus plan user and will sign up with idata 50. That means I have to pay RM100?? I always though only need to maintain RM50 commitment. If like that the extra paying of RM50 for idata50 is paying for nothing!! Only 500mb data. Save RM400.
Might as well change to prepaid. Can get 500mb for free but pay RM400 more to buy the phone outright. Jeez...I have to rethink again.
Hmm...dilemma again!

Does the RM50 paid for the iData Plans can be used for call charges? That means if I am using value plus plan 50, all together I will have RM100 for call charges or else really not worth paying that RM50 extra.
