You wont get any 3G connection or HSDPA connection if u use this package ,
the line might stable , but the speed is not fast as 3G or HSDPA
Correct me if im wrong .

I've used Maxis/Celcom 3G and Digi's EDGE. IMO while Digi's EDGE isn't as fast, it's far more consistent everywhere in Malaysia compared to the rest. Definitely helps when you're travelling outside of KL/PJ.

@antuheri,
Yes.. DiGi's unlimited plan is meant for EDGE services hence NO 3G/HSDPA connection as mentioned by tishaban biggrin.gif

Anybody knows why maxis doesnt allow port-in customers to sign up for ivalue plan under a 24-month contract?
*
No, port in customers (MNP) can only subscribe to the 12 month contract.

acronyx: For prepaid users, after the first 12 months, your prepaid will still be prepaid. It's just like normal prepaid plans, just that you get 500mb for the first 12 months for free, without any contract smile.gif

i know. it's just that i think it won't be suitable to use prepaid after the 12-month period since the data rate is expensive (0.5 cent/kb?) so i think i'll change to postpaid with iData after that. how about others? tongue.gif

That i know, but what i dont know is why the double standard in disallowing port in customers to sign up for 24 month contract?

@acronyx
Prepaid will stil be prepaid after 12 months but you will no longer be able to enjoy the 500MB free data, and i dont think you can subscribe to idata unless you move to postpaid. Or else it's pay per use under prepaid.

@cksia:
since those port-in customers are new, there's counterparty/credit risk. the longer the term of the contract, the higher the risk are. same goes to bank loans. Maxis might be looking at this when they draft out the T&C.

@acronyx:
if you're on prepaid currently, just subscribe to it and have fun. regarding iData subscription/switching to postpaid after a year, you don't wanna stuck in a contract after a year when Apple is refreshing the iPhone models and Maxis might be having new plans and benefits again. smile.gif

acronyx: For iData plans, it is on top of any of the current postpaid value plans, value 30/50/80/etc., therefore it really depends on your personal preference/usage.

For me, I would prefer getting 365 days validity for prepaid, and enjoy the 500mb for 12 months, and later on only decide whether to change to postpaid or what. Cause in 12 months time, alot of things can change, who knows DiGi might offer better rate in the future smile.gif

TuX: Ya, for iData there can be contractless plans =) Try look at maxis website. However, if you take contract, obviously the phone price will be cheaper

Hi guys,

I've been thinking of taking IDATA 2 one year plan or prepaid plan.
Currently I am using supplementary line family plus 30.
If take IDATA2 one year, it will be RM2590 + RM600 (50X12) = RM3190.
If take prepaid, it will be RM2990, the diff is RM200.

Prepaid is cheaper but it's kinda hassle to swap the sim cards in between 'cause normally i won't use the prepaid to make calls.

Any comment?

Hm.. did my post just get deleted?

Nvr mnd.. was just wondering whether there's any way to check if we've busted the 500 mb / 1 gb data threshold over the course of the month, instead of waiting for the bill at the end of the month?

The max contract period of 12 months for port in customers is actually an MNP regulation set by the SKMM. It's item 25 in their faq on this page.

I want to get a white one but will most probably take a black 3GS. If not, my wife will know that I got a new phone again. I'm currently using a black 3G. :-)

@TuX,
iData 1 has no contract period but U don't enjoy any discount/subsidy on phone price.

@rockccf,
For ur case, perhaps it's better to stick with subscribing to the iData plan; that way your current phone number is still being used + U don't have to worry about changing SIMS all the time.

@rockccf,
Both colours are recommended depending on what colour U want. There's been no report of the White turning black / yellow and the black turning white tongue.gif

@sysh,
Your post probably got moved to another more suitable thread on the forum, not deleted. And, no there's no way of checking your current usage; not even Maxis can give you that information unless U request for it and even then I don't know how long they're going to take to give u the information.

@soonwai,
Er.. there is a difference between the i3G and i3GS so if she looks properly she probably will be able to tell you got a new phone.
