Joey: For the RM8 sms add-on, provided you use the 500 SMS'es only, more than that, there will be additional charges, and I believe the 500 SMS'es applies only to Maxis numbers only as well, not to Digi/Celcom.

The RM8 is just like "value added services". You can opt not to sign up for that, and if you don't sign up for that, normal SMS charges applies.

QUOTE(Cyrus2k @ Jul 19 2009, 02:01 PM) err, wasn't the free 500MB data usage that comes with Prepaid plan only valid for the first 12 months? Wasn't it kinda pointless to get the Youth Club Pack? (although you pay less to extend the validity comparing to Hotlink 365... but come on, I doubt you will be only reloading that little of money for the whole year?) @acronyx, Please read the FAQ provided in the first page; Maxis will hold up the unit for you for 14-days after the launch day. (not really sure the "launch day" means 31/7/09 or the date that you set to collect though) Launching date: 28th of july, asked the rep in maxis centre... Woot, my dad registered the outright prepaid 16gb for me, for my 21st bday he got himself a 32gb one as well, under the iValue 4 plan....

for iData plan, you will need to pair up with any current value plans that maxis have. For 12 months contract, 16gb is at 2090, while 32gb is at 2590 tinkerbel: im answer neo2, cause he asked for iData 1 This post has been edited by raptar_eric: Jul 20 2009, 06:16 PM

intothefantasy: Yup, every month free 500mb, for the first 12 months after you sign up for the iPhone. However, if you can't finish the 500mb in the particular month, it won't be carried forward to the next month

acronyx: For prepaid users, after the first 12 months, your prepaid will still be prepaid. It's just like normal prepaid plans, just that you get 500mb for the first 12 months for free, without any contract

acronyx: For iData plans, it is on top of any of the current postpaid value plans, value 30/50/80/etc., therefore it really depends on your personal preference/usage. For me, I would prefer getting 365 days validity for prepaid, and enjoy the 500mb for 12 months, and later on only decide whether to change to postpaid or what. Cause in 12 months time, alot of things can change, who knows DiGi might offer better rate in the future

TuX: Ya, for iData there can be contractless plans =) Try look at maxis website. However, if you take contract, obviously the phone price will be cheaper

Yup, AFAIK, when I register as well, the maxis rep told me that only upgrades can be done, no downgrades can be done. Well, I guess that's business strategies by maxis =p
tink: I think you might want to re-consider checking with Maxis for the Value Plan downgrade matter. Cause it doesn't make much sense, when you're signing up for iData plan, supposingly, you cannot downgrade iData plan, but Value Plan is not affected. Best is to ask the Maxis rep, get his/her name, incase of anything, refer to the fella =)

Diablow: Please read carefully ler. You can buy the phone outright without any plans, by picking the Prepaid solution. You needa pay RM2990 for the phone, and you get free 500mb data/month for 12 months. But for now, I've heard and read that orders for prepaid plan are on hold, priority given to contract customers. Nevertheless, you can approach any Maxis stores and ask =)

boringpig: Maybe you should ask him, if your usage has reached the cap of 3GB, will there be additional charges, or the speed will be capped instead?

Hello fellow sifus, anyone know if my existing prepaid plan that has the free 500mb/month for 12 months will be cancelled if I'm not using the iPhone to surf? Cause AFAIK, Maxis now is able to detect the phone we're using as soon as we insert the SIM card into the phone. If I were to use it on other phone, will the free 500mb still be available? Anyone can shed some light? cheers
