QUOTE(teikwing @ Jul 17 2009, 05:32 PM)
yes. your prepaid line must be active to receive the 500mb data bundle every month. read up the T&C provided on the first page alright?
Free 500mb every mth or over 12 mths period? First tot was that it would be 500mb / 12mths = 41.6mb per mth but after reading the T&C, it's every mth! If that's the case, prepaid is much much cheaper compared to iData50 whereby we have to pay RM50 every mth...

Teik Wing, is this correct?? 2 good to be true.... shocking.gif

Added on July 18, 2009, 1:09 amif the above is correct, to maintain a hotlink prepaid acc over a period of 1 year you will need to subscribe to Hotlink 365 (which will ensure ur prepaid active for 365 days!!)

Subscription is RM33 (one time) + RM30 (min top-up within 1st 6mths) = RM63!... wholla and u get 500mb x 12 mths worth of data! it's cheaper than iData 50!!!

I have both maxis postpaid and prepaid numbers.
I wish to buy the iphone under the hotlink rm2990 for 32G to enjoy the FREE 500mb per month. But what if later I decided to put my postpaid sim inside the iphone 3gs.
I know as the iphone 3gs is officially unlocked it can be used with any sim so no problem for the maxis postpaid number.
However, under the postpaid number that I did not buy the iphone 3gs with, will it be able to subscribe to iData 1 (250mb) and iData 2 (500mb) later on?
I called the maxis customer service a few times and different cs told me different answers.
Answer One:
Although I buy the iphone from maxis and use it in maxis network, the iphone 3gs purchased is somehow associated with the phone number you used to make the purchase. Hence my postpaid number did not purchase any iphone 3gs. Since I opted to purchase using the hotlink number I cannot use the iphone in my postpaid number and then opt for iData 1 or iData 2 as a value added services. In this case, my only choices are like any normal nokia phone – rm5 (1mb), rm8 (5mb) or the rm99 (unlimited) etc. iDatas are all contracts.

Answer Two:
Since I bought it outright I’m not abide to any contract. I can hop from one iData 1 to iData 2 and use these iDatas as a value added services for my postpaid number with the iphone 3gs that I bought using a hotlink deal. Eg. I can subscribe iData 2 for one month and then change as I like to iData 1 or even subscribe nothing at all the next month.

Can someone with maxis insider get a thorough clarification? (Tinkerbel)? Please HELP icon_question.gif

First off, iData could be subscribed without contract! And secondly, y can't u hop between sim cards? unless iData is exclusively meant for iPhone???

I believe the lady in Answer One told me iData2 and iData3 cannot be subscribed without contract only iData1 is without contract. She meant you cannot subscribed to iData as a value added service.
I don't want to hop between sim because I'm afraid the sim tray will get loose.
Well, yeah she told me iData is exclusively only for iphone. Any other phone like nokia cannot subscribed to iData.

I am really confused different maxis customer service told me different stories. mad.gif

If maxis do NOT allow iData to be subscribed as a value added service for Value Plus plans, what happens to those people that enter into 12 months iData contract (after 12 months)?

Can they continue to subscribe iData without contract or enter into another 12 months contract or are only left with rm5 (1mb), rm8 (5mb) or the rm99 (unlimited) normal other phones data packages.

I’m considering from the point of those who do not upgrade to new iphone comes June/july 2010.

ok... first of all if u purchase d iphone from maxis either with or without contract u still will be able to put any sim card(maxis, digi, celcom n etc. and use it.
and for d idata, as long as u r buying the iphone from maxis then u are entitle to subscribe to idata. i did encounter problem to sign up idata coz my set is from aussie. the maxis centre told me that idata is only exclusively for those iphone sold by maxis.

Not too late, you can always specify whether you want to get a new plan for your iPhone or not.

You can specify whether to get a new number/plan for your prepaid iPhone. (its all in the booking form)
And, the collection date you can just put it on 1st August? Why you go and select 31/7/09? sweat.gif

@deepix,
I'm out of state this weekend hence a lil quiet but teikwing seems to b doing a good job without me here smile.gif. Anyway since ur q not been answered here's a summary as to wat u need to know.

CS 2 was right. iData plans are primarily add on plans which doesn't require contractual periods. So after this contract period u can continue n stop at anytime.

From the faq in first post, the phone will keep for you for 14 days. If you not collect it after 14 days, your RM200 deposit will burn.
Attach is the faq again.

jonest, u r absolutely correct! thumbup.gif

i wonder wat took so long for u guys to figure it out...

i changed from postplan to prepaid by just signing a form provided by maxis over the counter, then paid rm10 to top up. that's it! aftr 12 months , just change back to postpaid again. wat so susah susah? just go sign 1 form again, pay 1 month prepayment fee.
best still, there is no contract, by 1 yrs time, i can either change iphone (4G?), keeping my prepaid plan. whistling.gif
or i can keep my 3GS, convert to Value first (rm30/mth) + unlimited 3G package.

i stress again, u need to have the confirmation number to pay booking. if not ur booking will not be valid from Maxis HQ database. dont blame them when u go collect and informed ur info is not found and they cannot release 1 unit for u... cry.gif

i have 1 question regarding the Hotlink free 500MB data, how does Maxis credit the value?

i mean like postpaid they calculate the total amount u use at the end of the month on the bill then minus of the charges of it

but on prepaid side, how does it actually count, since prepaid is pay before u use, so if data charges normally also pay when you use.
*
anyone got any answer to elico's question?
i also wonder how they credit the 500mb to u since for prepaid, u pay first b4 u use....

Since alot asking about this, and I have done it over the counter:
YES. YOU CAN PRESERVE YOUR POSTPAID NUMBER when converting to prepaid. just sign 1 bloody form.
stupid maxis packages with big loopholes. bye bye my maxis postpaid, already 10 yrs with maxis cry.gif
Since i seldom call, and the sms price for prepaid is just as cheap, i prefer to use prepaid and activate Active10. 1 sen/sms to 10 maxis number, anyone???

got a question. what if i
1. book on the website using a maxis postpaid number
2. but choose prepaid (no contract) instead

Any issues there? or i can still pay the deposit and get the iphone 3GS when it's ready with the prepaid price?
Do i need to purposely get a new hotlink prepaid number?

Ok.. Let me put it this way. I'm also the same as you ppl. I'm a maxis postpaid customer. But due to a contract, I cannot sign for idata/ivalue plan. The sales girl at Maxis ask me to go for prepaid plan or go for a sub line plan. But in the end I choose for prepaid plan. That's the same thing. When you book for prepaid plan,i think you have to enter a registered prepaid number inside. It's a wise thing to purchase a prepaid and activate/register it before you book for prepaid. If not,you can do it at maxis center straight forward.
