just like what bro g3n0c|d3 has mention, yes you can since the phone is officially-unlocked.

since the phone is registered with a prepaid plan (Hotlink), you will be able to 500mb of data per month for a year.

but in your case, if you're using the phone with another sim (your current one), you will not be able to enjoy the 500mb data bundle benefit.

@Mr. Kong
i don't think "iValue Family" plan existed in the first place.

@elico:
i don't think Maxis is able to detect that you're using on 2 separate phones. just make sure the line is active to be able to receive the 500MB data bundle package.

@lil_fuzz:
IINM, you will still be able to change the plan when you collect your phone, i guess it's fine to change the number as well. do call up Maxis CS or head to the Maxis centre to verify? smile.gif

from what i have read till now, i think that

Iphone 3GS must be purchase along with new prepaid pack if you are not signing up any plan.

the new simpack confirm must buy d even you going to use it or not. maxis want to get more member ma, so give free 500mb usage lo biggrin.gif

the new simpack to use or not to use is entirely up to buyer

I probably will get the iData 50, and that have to register under primary account.
My supplementary line will be using the iphone... so will the free 500 MB be applicable for supplementary line as well?
Can i exchanged my primary and supplementary simm card into the iphone and still enjoy the 500 MB under iData 50, since both lines are under the same account?

thanks

Regarding this prepaid plan, from the conversation I had at the maxis center, it seems that the prepaid number
must be registered under your name then only you can use it to purchase the iphone 3GS under prepaid plan.
At first I wanted to use my wife's prepaid card for this purpose so that she can get free 500MB smile.gif , but that's not
possible.

That's why you need to purchase a new prepaid card if you don't have one.

I ask my friend who work with Maxis this morning and she confirmed to me that the package I choose shall be finalized upon 3G S pick-up on 31 July 2009. Plan can be changed but the size and colour of the 3G S is finalized during the online booking.

NOTE: teikwing ask me to confirm this point

I wonder if the iPhone 3G S's 3.6Mbps download speed on Maxis will be consistently faster than Streamyx's 1Mbps speed??

What does the iPhone 3G tell? Hmm...

I hope my comparison isn't too stupid.

ok i just make an online booking. One thing, you have to pay the deposit at the same place you want to collect from. Why cant they accept payment from online or even any Maxis centre?

I feel the prepaid deal is quite reasonable. If compare with iData RM50 - geez it comes to the same thing and you are tied down for a year or two. They should make their postpaid plans more attractive

The Iphone 3GS from Maxis would be unlocked unit, therefore, you can slot in any carrier sim card and start using. You can continue using your postpaid number, as for your prepaid card, it is up to you, keep in a drawer or once in a while use the 500MB data every month.

Have anyone heard of this? I call up maxis centre they say that if I will to get the prepaid plan for the 3Gs phone and at the same time keep my postpaid number, I have to change the postpaid number back to prepaid number first. Only than I can book it on line.One more thing is that the girl on the phone at maxis centre told me that we can't do any booking at any maxis centre. We only can do booking online. Is it true? Anyone has done his booking at maxis centre around KL area? rclxub.gif

@^prion^:
iData can only be tied to one specific account/line. if you subscribed iData for your supp line, then only the supp line will be able to enjoy the benefits.

@psjjl:
thanks for the info, mate. wink.gif

@tony9973
1. yes. that's true. or you can get a new simpack, get the phone at the Hotlink plan price and use it on your postpaid number. but you will not be able to enjoy the 500MB data bundle. (which comes with the Hotlink plan)

2. you can do the booking via the website or at any Maxis centres/partners and Machines outlets. but it's preferable to do it via the manual way as many users have been experiencing problems booking via Maxis's site.

Hmm well I when I went to Machines to pay for my deposit, they still asked me what model and colour I wanted and after that they printed the confirmation.
