Simple.What he meant is.

BUY the bloody(deemed as rude i guess) ifone 3gs by registering NEW PREPAID line. 16GB = RM2490

RM179 = RM80 for value plus80 plan + unlimited 3G usage add on RM99.

GET IT?
What is the advantage?

No contract.
UNLIMITED 3G usage.
*
I still don't get it, y would a prepaid sign up for VP80??? might as well sign up for postpaid!!! At least can enjoy some RM400 discount on phone.

Anyway, paid my deposits at Maxis centre (under prepaid) w/o registering online. Later on, Maxis centre staff called up asking me wether got receive sms or not? NOPE. The lady said she will help me to re-register but till now still no SMS. Tried to re-register but can't get tru. Is this just me or every1 having the same problem? Hopefully, they don't have any problem on collection day!!!

Btw, I'm using Valu Plan50 and I intend to sign up 12mths contract under iData50.

RM2090+RM600 (12mths iData) = RM2690, so it's extra RM200, i get to use 500mb data / mth thou I seldom use it. But is 500mb enuff for occassional surfing + email + misc?

Thnaks

@viosowner
Thannks but I think it's best for me to visit Maxis centre in the morning to confirm the status, otherwise they screw me up on 31st!!!

@tink
Where have u been??? Tot u'll be around to KPC on the pricing plan announcement.... heheh... anyway it's been fun allright with their new pricing. At least it's affordable and competitive with SG & HK!

I think it's best to buy outright if ur using DiGi or Celcom. But if ur using Maxis, my as well u sign up the plans. But if I were to sign up, 12mths is ok becoz the benefit is lower with 24mths contract... not worth it..... hey better think carefully b4 deciding....

@neekun,

When Maxis cap at 3GB usage, u will still be able to use the data connection, oni thin is they will throttle down ur download speed. I believe celcom cap is 5GB while P1's cap is 20GB! Hence I chose P1 thou it's not meant for mobile. Cheers.

@coriandery
How about different mobile no and / or email add?

@teikwing
Well, if ur currently using Maxis postpaid, you do save some. +iData50 x 12mths = RM600, less RM400 discount on phone so it's still ok. unless u do not intend to use data at all, then stick wif ur voice plan would suffice. Actually, my Maxis postpaid is backup and seldom use. Main line is still DiGi. But I may switch to Maxis later at the year, given the current situation. I'm paying RM66 unlimited for Edge!

@vui_msia,
I just checked the bill on my Maxis, other than them billing me RM99 for the Unlimited plan, they don't even give a mere indication of how much data was used! #$$^^& so I'm gonna need to figure out how to get that information; I can't be requesting for it every month right?! iSh.. maybe ask my Insider if he can do it for me biggrin.gif
I believe u can check it online, google maxis broadband....

@jonest,
Ahh.. thanks but I've never successfully logged on and contacted Maxis several times on this matter to no avail.  I finally gave up and always contacted them by phone when I needed information.  Anyhow I thought that would only access our Online Bill Statement - the information in terms of data usage is not even shown in the bill so I doubt it'll be shown on that website either !

I used to use their mobile broadband, online will tell u ur usage!!! thumbup.gif

@alanelf,

I find that Value Plan 50 (includes sms) + idata 50 = RM100 is more worth it esp if ur usages are low compared with iValue 100 bcoz sms is charged separately!

1GB data should be more enough for MOST users I assume.
Unless they spend their data on downloading apps on their iPhone.
That depends on ur usage.. I normally use Edge / 3G connection when I'm on the move, when I'm back @ office / home, it's connected to wifi so usage on the mobile data is lower.... u gotta play it smart!!! brows.gif

QUOTE(teikwing @ Jul 17 2009, 05:32 PM)
yes. your prepaid line must be active to receive the 500mb data bundle every month. read up the T&C provided on the first page alright?
Free 500mb every mth or over 12 mths period? First tot was that it would be 500mb / 12mths = 41.6mb per mth but after reading the T&C, it's every mth! If that's the case, prepaid is much much cheaper compared to iData50 whereby we have to pay RM50 every mth...

Teik Wing, is this correct?? 2 good to be true.... shocking.gif

Added on July 18, 2009, 1:09 amif the above is correct, to maintain a hotlink prepaid acc over a period of 1 year you will need to subscribe to Hotlink 365 (which will ensure ur prepaid active for 365 days!!)

Subscription is RM33 (one time) + RM30 (min top-up within 1st 6mths) = RM63!... wholla and u get 500mb x 12 mths worth of data! it's cheaper than iData 50!!!

I have both maxis postpaid and prepaid numbers.
I wish to buy the iphone under the hotlink rm2990 for 32G to enjoy the FREE 500mb per month. But what if later I decided to put my postpaid sim inside the iphone 3gs.
I know as the iphone 3gs is officially unlocked it can be used with any sim so no problem for the maxis postpaid number.
However, under the postpaid number that I did not buy the iphone 3gs with, be able to subscribe to iData 1 (250mb) and iData 2 (500mb) later on?
I call the maxis cs a few times and different cs told me different answers.
Answer One:
Although I buy the iphone from maxis and use it in maxis network, the iphone 3gs
purchased is somehow associated with the phone number you used to make the purchase. Hence my postpaid number did not purchase any iphone 3gs. Since I opted to purchase using the hotlink number I cannot use the iphone in my postpaid number and then opt for iData 1 or iData 2 as a value added services. In this case, my only choices are like any normal nokia phone – rm8 (8mb) or the rm99 (unlimited) etc. iDatas are all contracts.

Answer Two:
Since I bought it outright I’m not abide to any contract. I can hop from one iData 1 to iData 2 and use these iData as a value added services for my postpaid number with the iphone 3gs that I bought using a hotlink deal.

Can someone with maxis insider get a thorough clarification? icon_question.gif

First off, iData could be subscribed without contract! And secondly, y can't u hop between sim cards? unless iData is exclusively meant for iPhone???

@jonest:
yes! it's 500mb PER month for a year! that's why quite a number of users are considering getting 3GS through the prepaid plans. albeit the price of the phone is slightly expensive, there's no contract and you will still get to enjoy data usage for 1 whole year. cost of maintaining the prepaid is affordable to. just RM63 like what you've mentioned. smile.gif
Teikwing,

It's 2 good 2 be true.... hopefully they don't come tell us it was a typo error at the end of the day!!! shakehead.gif

Anyway a direct comparison:-

16GB + iData 50 (12 mths contract)
Phone = RM2090
iData 50x12= RM600
Total = RM2,690

16GB + Prepaid
Phone = RM2490
Prepaid=RM63
Total = RM2,553

Savings = RM137 = 5% of RM2690!

But what's the rate for over data usage for iData plans? Prepaid is charged at 0.5sen/kb.

@jonest,

I think your comparison is oversimplified as it does not take into account of voice calls and mms. Your calculation assumes that the user uses the phone merely for data only, of which i believe is unrealistic.
*
Well, I purposely left out the voice plans as every1 should know, postpaid is postpaid and prepaid as it is!!! And the most important thing for an iPhone is "Data" hence I compared oni data plans.... hope u understand what I meant... cheerios.
