it is too late for me to change from digi to maxis plan to get the phone?

Not too late, you can always specify whether you want to get a new plan for your iPhone or not.

You can specify whether to get a new number/plan for your prepaid iPhone. (its all in the booking form)
And, the collection date you can just put it on 1st August? Why you go and select 31/7/09? sweat.gif

@eekwan7,
Thats why there is a option for you to select whether to get a new number or not.

You fill in your current hp number for two purposes:
1. To let Maxis identify you (TAC number)
2. To let Maxis know whether you want to use your current number to subscribe the plan or not (whether you're maxis, digi, celcom)

In short, just tick the "get new number" option sweat.gif

err, wasn't the free 500MB data usage that comes with Prepaid plan only valid for the first 12 months?

Wasn't it kinda pointless to get the Youth Club Pack? (although you pay less to extend the validity comparing to Hotlink 365... but come on, I doubt you will be only reloading that little of money for the whole year?)

@acronyx,
Please read the FAQ provided in the first page; Maxis will hold up the unit for you for 14-days after the launch day. (not really sure the "launch day" means 31/7/09 or the date that you set to collect though)

What's so pointless about getting a plan which allows you to get cheaper rates, cheaper maintainance for validity? Anyway both prepaid should be the same price.

Indeed, I'm just trying to point out the validity period since thats one of the main point to help us enjoy the free 500MB, right? (Not everyone is eligible to get the Youth Club Pack anyway)

@eekwan7,
In a common sense, yes, by right each outlets will carry certain amount of iPhones. But then, how are we suppose to know how many units each outlet will carry? (unless some reseller can come and clarify this point)

If everything goes well (read: I am able to offload my AU iPhone 3GS) I will be making my pre-booking for Maxis' iPhone prepaid package. I will also be converting my postpaid to prepaid to be eligible to receive the free 500mb data for 12 months. Since I am a very light mobile phone user (calling, sms, etc.), I guess this could be a good deal for me.

The only thing I am worry of now is that the collection date for 31st July is full sad.gif I may be leaving the country on 1st August, leaving 31st July the only time I could collect the phone. I really hope they have enough phones for all of us on the 31st.

Yeah, since we don't really know how is Maxis distributing the units to the outlets; its impossible for one single or few hot outlets receive all the booking orders at the same date. My guess will be that nearing the collection date (maybe one week or few days earlier) Maxis will probably confirm the details of collection with those booking buyers (in case there is any changes on date, locations, etc)

EDIT: We need to stop the discussion on booking in this thread and continue at this thread.

@paco,
Well, I'm sure there is no perfect plan by any operators in the world. What they can do is to provide a plan suitable for you. What you see as insufficient might not be the same for others (although I notice plans provided by local operators are quite limited) smile.gif

@mamet,
You need to define 'cheap' by yourself. Someone will prefer getting a bundle unit with plan and still call it cheap. So you should judge it by yourself (your preference, financial, etc). BTW, this thread is for discussion on rates plan, if you want to ask for more opinions then please do it in this thread.

@elico,
Well, you got the same plan as me tongue.gif Since I knew that my monthly usage is below RM50, so I better get a prepaid plan. Even if my usage become higher in the future, I can still choose my prefer plan of choice (iValue Plus 50, 80, etc).

hi.. i wan ask idata3 for 3gb? is how to count as 3gb? anyone can explain to me? thx
*
Please do some reading on previous posts in this thread and you will get your answers for such simple questions. Especially the First Page.

Obviously, as from what you can see through Maxis website, iData 3 gives you 3GB of 3G data usage and suppose that if you overused it then you will be charged accordingly into your monthly bill statement.

How to count as 3GB?
Total data usage = data downloaded + data uploaded

data downloaded = Whatever stuff that you get from the internet: Website, Instant messaging, check emails, youtube, etc
Why? Because every stuff in the internet have their own size. And in order to display them in your phone (browser) then you will need to download them (hence, the size) into your phone from the website.

data uploaded = When you go to any site, upload pictures, updates your FB status, etc
Why? Because in order for you to surf to a site, your phone need to send header request to the site and these header request have their own size as well. Uploading pictures/FB status are applying similar concept.

In short, anything that goes through between your phone and internet counts towards the total data usage.
