@tinkerbell

Just a thought really wink.gif I... ermm... actually haven't have my phone yet sad.gif My friend is only coming back this Saturday so... It's a black 16gb though!

Anyway do you happen to know how much is the rate for data usage if i'm on iValue 50 plan? I don't really know if I need the extra iData plan or not. After all, on my old iPhone I don't have GPS and surfing on the EDGE network is a bit too slow so I've never used it. I also turned off Push notification on my old iPhone.

Having said that, I am not too sure how much is enough for data usage. Would appreciate if you can share some of your experience!

Just to share my data usage :

I am currently using Digi Unlimited Data on my Iphone 2G. My data activities are
1) Working days internet tethering on OSK sites only.
2) Email fetch every 15 mins for Gmail and Yahoo
3) Daily once upto twice checking for update on Cydia
4) IM chat through internet tethering - but chat time not frequent
5) Occasionally 4 -5 times/month App update through Appstore
5) And lately enabled push notification (last 1 week) for my IM.

With the mentioned activity, my data usage recorded upto 800MB. I believe it might shoot up to 1GB if I have push notification on for 24/7.
Because currently i set it to turn off push notification after 4 hrs.

I also booked my Iphone 3GS. Now in dilemma whether I should take prepaid, then sign up with maxis unlimited data plan or celcom unlimited plan..., or to take up Maxis ivalue 2 plan. rclxub.gif

Really scare the ivalue plan of 1GB data won't be sufficient if I started to use GPS.... sweat.gif

The only advantages for unlimited data is you don't have to worry about Maxis sending you a big Angpow at the end of the month, and best of all no need to keep an eye on the data usage at all.

I think for vui_msia the data usage will be quite high if he doesn't has any wifi to cover during office hour.

1GB should be a comfortable range if no youtube viewing....

The Iphone 3GS from Maxis would be unlocked unit, therefore, you can slot in any carrier sim card and start using. You can continue using your postpaid number, as for your prepaid card, it is up to you, keep in a drawer or once in a while use the 500MB data every month.

If he bought the iphone 3GS with prepaid plan, his prepaid card will have free 500MB data every month.

Regarding this prepaid plan, from the conversation I had at the maxis center, it seems that the prepaid number
must be registered under your name then only you can use it to purchase the iphone 3GS under prepaid plan.
At first I wanted to use my wife's prepaid card for this purpose so that she can get free 500MB smile.gif , but that's not
possible.

That's why you need to purchase a new prepaid card if you don't have one.
