@tink..

yep, they r stupid...  makesure you have itemise billing activated. even though it is free and ONLY way to know your usage. but they don't activate it by default.

when you have itemise billing activated, it will show a lum sum figure in your phone bill eg... how many MB have you use, how much it costs based on normal charges per KB.. then it will display all data charges waived

lol, may be first 3GB is 3G speed, then after that is EDGE speed..
hm.. you guys aware that one of the new features in 3GS is support 7.2Mpbs 3G speed.  wondering when Maxis will upgrade it .... our neighbor singtel already have that upgraded for 3GS  blink.gif

without trying to sound hostile, i don't think that it is wise to compare malaysia with singapore.

they are not (and never will be) in direct proportion and comparable for very obvious reasons.

singapore's internet speed has always been way more superior than ours (number 1). SingTel has more resources at their disposal (number 2). singapore is a much smaller country to enable larger penetration (number 3)

well you must understand as well that SG is just the size of Ipoh, with a huge buying power

it isn't fair to compare Maxis and Singtel, imagine the cost they are going to incur by upgrading their networks, and given the turtle-like tech adoptability rate of ours, it just doesn't make any business sense at all, no matter from which angle you're looking at.

you won't be seeing that happening anytime in the near future.

when that happens, it would be the time when the nasi lemak mak ciks around the corner uses an iphone as well and utlising it for google earth so that she can travel around the world when she's free.

p/s nokia, takdir ke? when we are replying to the same post and posting at the same time. tongue.gif

lolz the unlimited is the iData3 3gb plan lo.... coz you wont use up to 3gb wan....their speed is so slow

Unlimited is unlimited, iData 3gb is iData 3gb.....

They are two different things...

1. For iData 3gb, u pay RM99 per month, FOR a cheaper iphone, depends on model and contract periods.
eg. Value Plus RM50 + RM99 = RM149 ++ per month.

2 For unlimited data plan, u pay RM99 per month too, BUT no DISCOUNT or no further discounts for the iphone you choose.
ie. if you choose iValue RM100, u suppose only have 500mb free data, but u can opt to upgrade it to unlimited data plan by paying additional RM99. (total: RM199 ++ per month)

I think the prepaid plan is quite attractive, since it provide free 500mb monthly data transfer. The iValue plan which charge RM0.10 per SMS is damn expensive, if I have to pay RM100 per month, it consider quite expensive already and I don't expect to pay more because of SMS.

Don't forget the Hotlink prepaid will gain points and can exchange for more free SMS and talking time. I think I will go with the prepaid plan.

Hi all. Just to shed some light on the Data usage.

Im subscribed to the Maxis USB Broadband. And at this point of time, i've been online using 3G for 1 hour and 40 mins exactly.

I've surfed Lowyat.forums, Facebook, Gmail, Soccernet etc. and i've downloaded mini-files and attachments (because big downloads seem to be blocked).

The total volume of my usage is 22.6 MB.

I'd consider my usage intermediately heavy as I use it everyday.
So, if we generally say 3 hours of usage is 40 MB, if u use it 24/7, thats about 320 MB for 24 hours.

This is not accurate by any means, but an estimation based on usage from who uses the internet often.

@vui_msia,
According to the stewpid CS the total data will not be reflected in the bill; it's not even stated in my current bill hence I'm checking. Anyhow will take jonest advise and check out the online statement and hopefully it's there.

nop you are wrong...this what the operator told me..for the unlimited plan actually is the iData 3gb ..in terms of usage ..of coz diff is one is with iphone package bundle one is not...for the iValue actually the free data is cheat ppl wan is include in the monthly fee...example if you are taking iValue 1 RM100 ...RM50 is your call usage RM50 is the data...so if you didnt use your the 500mb data rite the RM50 is useless it wont transfer to call usage...this what the operator told me

@alanelf,
That is absolutely right!

And as I've mentioned earlier on another thread, I'm NOT going to repeat myself and explain about the RM99 Unlimited Data Package capping at 3GB anymore tongue.gif

iData2 : RM 50 x 12 months = RM 600 + RM2590 = RM 3190 + 500MB for 12 months

prepaid : Rm 2990 + 500Mb for 12 months

is that means that prepaid is more worthy?

@alanelf,
Act we do point it out on this thread hence it's sometimes good to go find out and get the whole picture biggrin.gif You're absolutely right that iValue is a stewpid plan biggrin.gif

@kazaf86,
I didn't check if your figures are right but if it is then yeah, prepaid does seem to be a better option plus U don't have to get urself into a contracted period biggrin.gif

@kazaf86,
Now that is not stated but as long as you're using Hotlink it should qualify U to make the purchase on the prepaid plan.

@alanelf,

I find that Value Plan 50 (includes sms) + idata 50 = RM100 is more worth it esp if ur usages are low compared with iValue 100 bcoz sms is charged separately!

@zc_squash,
I believe nokia2003 has given U his reply.  I'm not fully experiencing by 3G services until recently so I will need a couple of months to be able to determine 'fair' usage tongue.gif but U can take nokia2003's usage as your guide biggrin.gif

And.. to the forummer I commented on the iData 1 plan, sorry I overlooked - there's no contract on that one so it's really the same price as the Hotlink plan biggrin.gif

1GB data should be more enough for MOST users I assume.
Unless they spend their data on downloading apps on their iPhone.

That depends on ur usage.. I normally use Edge / 3G connection when I'm on the move, when I'm back @ office / home, it's connected to wifi so usage on the mobile data is lower.... u gotta play it smart!!! brows.gif

the different here is the call rate ...

if you rarely use phone to call people, then no doubt the prepaid plan is more worth

Hey guys, have you all tried booking at the Maxis website?

Anyway, at step 3, I face this problem. I am unable to proceed to step 4. And the reason I found out is that I did not tick Would you like to upgrade to a Maxis principle postpaid line.

So I am wondering if I should continue with the booking. Any help?
