i have 1 question regarding the Hotlink free 500MB data, how does Maxis credit the value?

i mean like postpaid they calculate the total amount u use at the end of the month on the bill then minus of the charges of it

but on prepaid side, how does it actually count, since prepaid is pay before u use, so if data charges normally also pay when you use.

just like what bro g3n0c|d3 has mention, yes you can since the phone is officially-unlocked.

since the phone is registered with a prepaid plan (Hotlink), you will be able to 500mb of data per month for a year.

but in your case, if you're using the phone with another sim (your current one), you will not be able to enjoy the 500mb data bundle benefit.

@Mr. Kong
i don't think "iValue Family" plan existed in the first place.

what if i use the sim card on 2 phone, example now using on iPhone later i change the sim to another phone to use it, and some moments later switch back to iphone, will the free data be void?

well u dun need Hotlink 365 to maintain a year validity if u are under 25 years old... just purchase the Hotlink Youth Club pack and u can have 4 year validity (with the condition of RM10 top up per year)...

pay my deposit... purchased my Best Skin Ever from their website... all now have to do is wait BSE and iPhone to arrive... biggrin.gif

Youth Club pack should be RM 8.80 if not mistaken...

the downside of Youth Club pack is that u buy a new pack with a new phone number, even u are an currently a Hotlink users.... if not i would have change to it...

anyway is good for ppl who wishing to use prepaid to purchase iPhone...

well myself was a SMS type of guy, i was also been wondering which plan should i go for, but after thinking for awhile i decide is best that i stick back to prepaid, since it cheaper for my usage, and the data is free ... some more Hotlink Reward gives free SMS by converting ur points, so it just suit me well..

my average usage per month was below RM30, some times even below RM20...

the pricing really is a subjective matters

on the plan case, if there is an option like "iValue RM50" which include SMS in it, then i think many ppl will prefer that plan, especially prepaid users... and again this is just "IF"

but in the end of course everyone wants to have the part of benefits, that includes Maxis, not all plan suit everyone

u cant actually calculate how much u can download by divide the quota by 2 just because they charge upload and download together... normally data uploaded are lesser than they are downloaded, so of course u will use more than 50% of ur quota on download.

tat y i dun take the iValue plan... coz no SMS included... it was made for data and calls

i personally would suggest that if u a heavy SMS and less call user like me... consider taking Value Plus plan or prepaid... it will be more price wise...

You mean, for example..take the Value Plan Plus 50 + iData2 = RM100?
So essentially for a new user, signing up for their "normal" plans then get the phone after that for RM2,590 (12 months, 32Gb 3GS)
A premium of RM300 over the iValue plan. Wonder whether it's worth it.

Edit: The Value Plan Plus.. say for RM50, that would give you to credit for both calls, sms, mms etc? Sorry, nvr been a Maxis user before
*
you actually can calculate based on ur current usage

ok let assume that i (heavy SMS user) send 200 SMS to Maxis per month, and 200 SMS to other operator, 15 minutes calls to Maxis, and 15 minutes call to other operator

Value Plus 50 + iData 50 16GB iPhone 3GS 12 months contract: RM2090, saving RM400
iValue 100 16GB iPhone 3GS 12 months contract: RM1990, saving RM500

assuming i do take Value Plus 50 + iData 50:
- Value Plus 50 SMS rate: 5 sen to Maxis, 15 sen to others
200*0.05 + 200*0.15 = RM40

- call rate 12 sen to Maxis, 18 sen to others
15*0.12 + 15*0.18 = RM4.5

total use: 40+4.5 = RM44.5, which Value Plus 50 covered

at the end of the month i still paying RM100

but if i were on iValue plan, i still keep my habit of SMS heavily, and i take the RM8 500 SMS package
- SMS Rate: 10 sen
SMS sent to other operator : 200*0.10 = RM20
SMS sent to Maxis: RM8 (as below 500 SMS)

- calls 333 minutes included in iValue 100

total payment: 100+8+20 = RM128

at the end of the month i need to pay RM128, with extra RM28 per month, if u doing this for 12 months
12*28 = RM336 <-- rough calculation

u will be paying more RM336 at the of the year, minus out the saving of RM500

500 - 336 = RM164

you only get RM164 saving

as compare to ur RM400 saving on Value Plus, u only able to save RM164 on iValue, IF u an heavy SMS user like me.

of course different user have different cases, this case applies to mine... this is just serve as a reference to u

now i have hard time choosing which plan i want. earlier wanted to go for the iValue 100 but since u break the calculation till like that i have to rethink. What i like about the iValue is the iphone is much cheaper which is easier to convince my parents to get me 1 smile.gif.

well all i can say is that you do a rough calculation on your overall purchase + maintaining the phone and line, then u will know that which plan serve you the best.

after my own calculation, i stick back to Hotlink, and since i on Hotlink Youth Club, it has the best rate for both call and sms...

for mine i comparing it with my current Hotlink and Value Plus 50 + iData 50 on the same case as previous:

Value Plus 50 + iData 50:
Phone: RM2090
Maintaining the contract for 12 months: 100*12 = RM1200

Total money spend in a year: RM2090 + RM1200 = RM3290

Hotlink on Youth Club Plan:
SMS to Maxis 1 sen, SMS to others 5 sen
Call to Maxis 12 sen, Call to others 15 sen

- SMS usage per month: 200*0.01 + 200*0.05 = RM12
- Call usage per month: 15*0.12 + 15*0.15 = RM4.05
- Total use per month = RM16.05
- Data 500MB: Free for 12 months

Total cost maintaining for 12 months: 16.05*12 = RM192.60

Total money spend in 12 months: RM2490 + 192.60 = RM 2682.60

so for me, as you can see Hotlink serve better on RM/year comparison. after a year i will be having the trouble over data charges tongue.gif, by then re-plan everything again la... whistling.gif

of course again as i said, this is calculated based on my usage, different user has different usage. this serve as a reference only...

How come I still don't receive even though Machine help me with that too  sad.gif
Going to go to maxis garden again today...

I can't afford to wait 7 days as the data charges are killing my prepaid with 1sen/kb.
iPhone consume data like drinking water after a race.

Will report back later.

god i wish i have time to go to Maxis Centre... the CS told me the very same thing, need me to wait 7 days for it, which my iPhone periodically will fetch some data in...

duh... now i have no choice but to wait... if 1 week later no confirmation SMS... i going to explode again...

Hmm my post has been spread to 2 topics (O_O) not sure where am I suppose to post this so sorry mod if I post this on the wrong one.

Anyway this is regarding the Hotlink 500MB SMS issues. I went to maxis garden again just now and see what is really going on there.

It seems there is a error in their system that is causing the hotlink number not registered with the iPhone purchased. There is about 80 cases like that and they are fixing it according to when you get your phone.

The 7 days waiting period stated by CS is actually buffer for them, so usually this will resolved in 1-2 days. They are willing to rebate you back all the CS interaction call fee and data fee you used so far before the 500MB activation (better confirm this with maxis about your case).

So that's that. Now there is nothing you can do, just have to wait for them to activate yours.
*
hopefully they can solve it within one week, they dy make a mess for the pre-booking, don't let those that have collected their iPhone leave another bad impression on them...

Those bought under Hotlink plan - even after your free 500MB data has been activated, do check your account from time to time. Mine is still showing a bunch of 1 to 2 cents data charges.

I also call their Hotline to confirm my starting date so I know when to reset my monthly usage. Stupid CS told me that 500MB is for one year! Dunno whether to laugh or scream at her.

Now trying to find out why I am still incurring data charges
*
this is what i found out... when u use the data, it will 1st charge 1 or 2 sen, then after some time (few minutes after u ended ur surfing) the system will credit back the 1 or 2 sen...
