Getting Started

Hello,
Can some one help me identify clearly what type of weight training that is very effective for fat loss purpose. or in the other word, for cutting. I googled it before, and found no concrete answer. At this point, the weight training of less weight and more reps is the most popular workout type for cutting. But is it really that effective?? Can anyone help me to explain about it in more detail. any link or website is also sangat-sangat di alukan. I bet many other people also have the same problem like me when they decide to workout for cutting.
tq

It's all about the diet.
Added on June 3, 2009, 7:07 amBy experience, any workout can be tweaked to fat loss goals, all you need to do is sort out the diet so you can gear your workout to bulking or cutting.

So there is really no different type of workout for cutting? U just only need to reduce your diet for the cutting phase. Thanks mofonyx.

it's better to do cardio then to reduce your food intake. It is said high reps training cuts more of your fat.

Diet and cardio to create calorie deficit to lose weight fast. Doing weights(compound exercise) can achieve fat loss too but it'll take a longer time, with the side effect of adding muscles as well.

You won't be getting rid of all the fats in a short period of time. Some people may be able to do it, but you see how much muscles they've lost, and they look damn skinny. If they want to get bulky again, not easy.
After you cut, then you get bulky again, then you cut again. Just maintain some fats to get bulky, but not too much of fats. After you cut, just make sure you bf% around 20%. Then you stop cutting, gain more muscles, then cut again till 15% or lower (if you want six pack). But 15% to me is good enough.

Like doing bench press with light dumbell for 25-50 times. I've read somewhere about this if not mistaken. No time to search right now This post has been edited by kurtkob78: Jun 3 2009, 09:37 AM

I read in Esquire magazine that to lose fat, you alternate within one workout between cardio and weightlifting. Cadio-weight-cardio-weight like that.
For me personally, the model I plan to use is to continue doing Rippetoe's program but without increasing the weights while cutting down on calories. Hopefully this will preserve my muscles while I lose the fat.

if you want to preserve or reduce the muscle breakdown, eat enough protein maybe up to 1.8 x b.weight in kg. and ead 500kcal below your maintainance and 1800kcal min for a guy, you should lose some weight. Fat or maybe a little muscle.
I'm practising weight-cardio-weight cardio. Trying to clean bulk

I would contest that statement, with myself as proof and a lot of my friends as proof, but just can't be bothered to.

yes, if you have to choose between exercise or diet to lose fat, then it's better to do exercise. if you restrict your diet, then your metabolism drops and you need to lower your food consumption further. Furthermore, diet will cause starvation which will try hold to your fat storage. Exercise increase your metabolism and it wont cause this starvation effect. I've read this from an ebook. I will post more of it here. but, If got new research about this, please correct me.

speaking from my experience, any weight training will do...just make sure, you take proper meals first...take care of that, you'll progress nicely...and don't forget cardio...just my 2 cents...
