Happy New Year, buddy! Well, I had a horrible experience last week when I JB'ed and installed SBSettings to disable EDGE. Idling at 9x% at about 2am and woke up at 9am to see only 7x% left. Rebooted the phone after JB + SBSettings, switched off WiFi, SSH, EDGE, 3G, Email fetch, Location settings, etc. before I left it idle. And for some reason, True North option on Compass doesn't work after JB.
Perhaps it only happened to me, glad to hear that yours is doing better.

IMO, background processes actually consumes more battery rather than SBSettings itself. since 3GS is reported to have higher battery capacity i assume it should able to perform better in terms of battery life than i3G.
well in my case, i did switched off SSH (a must, main culprit for weak battery life), WiFi, 3G, EDGE, Push, Location services in order to achieve optimum battery life on my phone.
anyway, our discussions seem to be a lil off-topic since it's a data usage thread.

oh ya happy new year to you and the rest of the iPhone community too!
