@xpresside,
I'm with tnsai on the fake APN draining your battery. I was using that for about 10 months with no battery issues.

I was using that for about 10 months with no battery issues. as many or some of u mentioned b4, iphone tends to connect to the internet whenever it wants to. and trying to keep the apps updated. randomly searching updates for the os. so when it fails to connect it will try to reconnect for a few more times. when i check my hotlink statement, i can see gprs charges every few hours eventho im not using the phone. if fakeapn isnt draining ur battery, consider urself lucky or do a quick comparison on how long ur fon last when u off fakeapn n on it. when using it my phone can barely last a day, now can last more than a day |

QUOTE(Cyan7 @ Nov 11 2009, 12:54 PM) Data Usage:QUOTE > Is iData/iValue's 500MB data bundle sufficient for casual surfing? - Yes. Based on feedback from few forummers, Facebook, YouYube, IM, Surfing, Apps download and updates take up roughly 500MB per month. Just an estimation though. If you're an heavy user on downloads and YouTube, do take up higher capacity data bundle. (Note that the allocated data per month is fixed for every month and cannot be carried forward) QUOTE Example: (credits to nokia2003) i don't jailbreak and tether my iPhone (important piece of information) and i'm on the 250MB/month. let me illustrate on, my typical average usage per day; i'm perpetually on LYN (not the lite version), retrieve and reply e-mails (6 accounts), read news (from different sites), moderate another forum, blog hopping, IM chatting and the odd apps updating. i typically, spend approximately 6 hours away from my home during university days and rely heavily on the optus 3G network of course. also bear in mind that i have never exceeded my data allowance. this website should also be helpful to estimate your usage. ![]() This post has been edited by teikwing: Nov 11 2009, 12:57 PM |

xpresside,
found some info from this forum: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=764706 from the forum, looks like the cause are push and notification. If you have these two things enabled, then your iPhone will be looking for connection when it needs to fetch data for push or notification service. also from the forum, I find the tool "iPhone Configuration Utility 2.1" is a great tool to track what your phone is doing (console view). So far my phone is not connecting randomly or searching for updates "sesuka hati". I'll do some more tracking using this tool and I'll update if anything changes.. Push emails and notifications automatically updates your email which means they connect to 3g. Correct me if i'm wrong. So if it's not useful to you, just simply switch it all to Fetch.. @whizzy,
My original i3GS is a Melbourne unit. I subsequently purchased a 2nd unit for a cousin in Germany and on that Maxis purchase, I signed up for the 12 month iData 2 plan. @Cyan7, 1GB should be suffice. |

Guys,
I need to ask you guys regarding IM+, i'm working from home.. so my phone n laptop using WIFI. Start from today I'd like to use IM+ 24/7 using my iphone. So no one disturb me when playing game/watch movies huhu. But if i enable the PUSH notification, and connect to most of the social networks, and when I go out from my home, it will use my maxis data rite, then when i come back home then IM+ automatically use my wifi without me restarting the apps rite? |

@manchurr,
Yes that is absolutely right, but if you don't have a data service plan or have disabled APN, your IM+ won't work if there's no wifi around |

For my case, they said only use after 1 day and I actually callled them the next day to check if it has been activated before using. My bill is ok... |
