The difference is door-to-door includes doing the clearance procedure and then sending from airport to your house. Door-to-airport means you have to engage runner/freight forwarder plus go to airport yourself to pick up (which can present a problem if your car not big enough to fit the sub).

In both cases local taxes still need to be paid.

I think it ends up in the cargo terminal of the airport.

I just got a quote from Erik (SVS Co-Owner/ Director – Information Systems and Technology). Below are the quotes

Hey Lightning69;

Shipping would be:

Door to door $315 Bax Quote Number 485xxxx
Door to airport $240 Bax Quote Number 485xxxx

These quotes are for prepaid shipping and a small international handling fee only. Any taxes, duties, brokerage, administrative, etc. fees are your responsibility. The door to door rate includes the brokerage fees and the door to airport does not. The brokerage fees included in door to door rates may not include all local administrative fees.

You are responsible for finding out about any local required procedures, licenses, registrations or such in advance. We had one recipient that had to become a registered importer in his country in order to be able to pick up at the airport (a lengthy and expensive process) and because he didn't find out about this requirement in advance, he was not only forced to go through it, but he also had to pay storage fees on the box while waiting for his forms to process.

Unfortunately due to the high incidence of credit card fraud in Malaysia we can only accept payment via bank transfer; when you are ready to order we will provide instructions on how to make the payment. Please also make sure that you let us know if you need the subwoofer in 110v or 220v configuration.

Let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

My door to door quotes doesn't include tax. Is it because I am from Miri? Btw, how much is the tax? 15% like all electronics goods on the price of the product or it includes the shipping cost too?

I just notice that the price of the PC12-NSD and PB12-NSD are the same. Which one is better?

The quote above for which model of SVS?

SVS quote is for shipping only, they don't estimate for tax because that is your responsibility. I think tax is 25% in all as htkaki said before and the tax is applied on both price + shipping cost.

I don't think its to Miri airport. What if they send to KL airport then i will be in deep shit trying to arrange to ship to miri.

Not sure whether to go for cylindrical of box?

Just a poor peasant going for the entry level sub!

Hi,

I dont get why u all assume de cylinders are bigger( is it becos its taller??) than de equivalent (driver size) cylinders - technically its footprint (de part dat touches de floor) is actually smaller n tat was de intention of its design.. to save floor space..

N whether u prefer de traditional box shape or de newer design (well its not tat new - I tink its been ard for 4-5yrs), its all a matter of preference - dont forget tat de cylinder is jus plain black n de boxes can cum in veri nice veneers which would make it luk classier.. IMO..

Cheers

Another question I want to ask. What's the main difference of PC-12+ and PC-12NDS, other than a less powerful amp? Their sizes and weights are almost the same but prices almost double?

PC12+ has different woofer and has got 3 ports (instead of 1 on the PC-12NSD). Also PC12+ is 5" taller than NSD.

The new PC12-NSD use the same woofer now as the PC12+.

"SVS has long built its own woofers. The NSD-AL is one of a continuous evolution back many years now. While affordable there is nothing much "off the shelf" in the nature of this woofer, the heart of any sub. Every part was selected for maximum performance and with this latest NSD rev, we've even put on the stiff, costly and oh so attractive powder-coated aluminum cone stolen from our equally famous Plus 12.3 woofer."

Are you sure? The PC12-NSD uses the NSD-AL woofer as mentioned above. But the PC12+ uses the Plus 12.4 woofer.

The difference can be seen clearly in the pics below (the PC12-NSD on the left):

That is from the SVS website on the PC12-NSD product page.

I am waiting for the new quote from SVS for the PC12-NSD. Since the PC12 is lighter, the shipping cost will be lower. Sound wise should be the same according to Erik of SVS. Because box woofers are so common here, I think i will go for the cylindrical woofers for a change.

Anyway, please remove me from the MO. I will buy direct from SVS.
