Hi,
I dont get why u all assume de cylinders are bigger( is it becos its taller??) than de equivalent (driver size) cylinders - technically its footprint (de part dat touches de floor) is actually smaller n tat was de intention of its design.. to save floor space.. N whether u prefer de traditional box shape or de newer design (well its not tat new - I tink its been ard for 4-5yrs), its all a matter of preference - dont forget tat de cylinder is jus plain black n de boxes can cum in veri nice veneers which would make it luk classier.. IMO.. Cheers Dirtrun |

QUOTE(lightning69 @ Jun 12 2009, 10:23 PM) Still no reply from Erik..... Hi L,Man, the more I read about this sub, the more crazy i got. I can wait to order and get this sub. So far I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about it. Unbelievable. I guess i am poison to the bones!! Normally, we wont run down wat we are usin unless it really pisses us off big time.. so u'd get mostly positive rvws from owners.. Even thou' I m a SvS user, I hv heard talk tat de lower line subs are a tad problematic - if possible try n get de midrange n up models.. Added on June 13, 2009, 11:10 am QUOTE(lightning69 @ Jun 13 2009, 01:26 AM) If one couldn't satisfy you...what about six!!! Actually,I have been to a HDB room of 3 by 4.5m tat houses 7 (yup count seven) subwoofers ; I tink 5 of those are SvS's .. He is kinda a local legend there.. QUOTE(lightning69 @ Jun 13 2009, 11:29 AM) So far all or most of the user are happy so that says a lot. Yup,"There is always a bigger fish!" but now that is all the fish I need. Tats abt wat brought me to get one even if more accessible(and better serviced/warranty) brands were avlbl here for wat I paid for de PB12+ - every owner seems to like it so much and even those who were non fans had nutin bad to say.. Bigger fish - one SvS is enuff for most rooms (even American sized ones) 2 is alrdy pushin it but more is plain kaisu .. But after sayin tat, de chap who has 7 subs has a beautiful inert room (u can hear a pin drop in there) n bass is beautifully controlled wif his Elemental design parametric eq.. Cheers Dirtrun |

SB12 is a sealed sub so its HT performance is not as gud as de bigger cabinetry ones.. Luks wise is not so big la .. De bookshelves used in the pics look like de SvS bkshelves sbs-01.. mus be a svs fan..

QUOTE(s6xs9x @ Jun 16 2009, 11:49 PM) I sat down from 8pm just now till now testing. Movies after movies. Hi,Before this i had the woofer facing towards my sitting position hopping to yield the max out from this baby. I guess i didn't have enough space for that. So i faced it towards the left cause the walls are nearer there, and it became all towards one side. Today It seemed pretty well when i faced it to the right. No complaints so far. Just unsure if directions does make the diff. Too tired to do the crawl test, are you gonna come down any soon .. help me calibrate it you do ya. p/s Will facing the sub to my AVR damage the it? With a velo it tends to trail a lot & shakes the surrounding more, giving it a feel of larger bass, I'm not sure how to put it into words. With this PB10, it's more focused hence I felt less bass. At louder volume, the pressure is great but not much of audible sound. I've wrote to SVS on this issue, and they claim that it's just interpreting whats recorded in actual and not rumbling when it's not supposed to. On some movies, my couch felt like it's being filled up with ants running for it's life. I could feel the rush of armies on horses coming through from left to right. I can't say much as I've just started using it for a few days. Perhaps other Velo turned SVS users can comment more on this. For me it's just different. I'm in Ampang, also in an apartment, let me know once you've got yours. Could it be .. all along u were really enjoyin "boom" instead of real bass? Sorry.. but sum ppl equate boom to real bass when actual circa 20hz signals are really movin air only n is sub sonic or in other words we humans cant really hear it.. I hv a solution for u if tis is de case.. use a y-plug n go twin sub wif ur velo.. as then u would get de 20-35hz signals from ur velo(apprntly tats wat de velo is gud for..) n still get de tru bass fr ur SvS.. try it. I dunt tink facin ur sub to de amp would be a prblm unless ur avr is on an unstable platform which can cause it to vibrate durin heavy bass scenes.. if tats de case then move it to de floor. QUOTE(megatron007 @ Jun 17 2009, 08:05 AM) taukeh taukeh sekalian...dare not to pijak ...hehe Haha.. I attribute de most wanted feature in HD to vdo.. true 1080p pics are gorgeous compared to even a gud upscaled 480p pics( I know cos I hv a oppo 981hd - one of a highly acclaimed sd upcaler n a ps3).. On odo, a gud plain dd or dts is still gud n lossless odo is jus icin to d cake - even b4 hd , de LOTR EE tracks or movies like Titan AE, U571, War of the world all had great odo n tats plain dd/dts .. no one was complainin then.. Kekeke seriously u guys need to get those HD audio format to enjoy ur superior setup at home the LFE on BOLT is extremely low too just like the TAKEN.... walalala Jus my 2cts Dirtrun |

QUOTE(caryn_eternal @ Jun 17 2009, 04:23 PM) hello all sifu, i am a beginner in home entertainment. i am abt. to set up my av room with husband. The room size 12' x 22' x 10' with plaster ceiling.I and my husband have been following or reading the forum for quite sometimes. My intention setup consists Pioneer amp, Pioneer bluray player, pioneer 60" plasma tv. Speaker will be either B & W or others american speaker with velo or rel or b & W as subwoofer. We will most likely to choose rel or b&W as subwoofer. I need info about subwoofer as i audition rel subwoofer at CMY outlet, seem to be very good and solid. According to CMY for a good subwoofer they specify you don,t need to go so low on frequency. At abt. 20-25 hz is the most suitable range, below that you will not feel the oomph much or rather to low of frequency of 18 and below you will not feel the punchy sound and you feel too hollow. Sure enough they show us the magazine abt. some other more expensive model (JL Audio 22Hz, Velodyne spl 20 hz, earthquake 23hz and most of them in between 20-25hz range) As my husband will most likey to spend most of the times on action movies , so this gentlement from CMY state that too low of freq. of 20 below will most suitable for musical and not suitable for action movies, as he said too low too hollow will it sound and loose all those punchy feeling. So thanks for reading this text and need all the sifu to comment before parting my hard earn money, thanks. Hi Madam..Welcum to de forum.. Might I say tat it is rare for a uhm de fairer sex to hv interest in e-gear.. let alone HT, gud for you.. About CMY's recommendation.. Id only go so far to say tat REL makes great subs but its not de best for HT use, at least not value for money - best la.. n for one rvw tat praises a model, u'd prbbly able to find another rvwer who dont like it.. n if its a magazine backed rvw, then I d take it with a spoonful of salt cos they nid ads to survive .. so.. N ya sub sonics is wat we r talkin here and a musical sub is de one who dont nid to go below 25hz as a musical instrument cant go tat low anyway.. HT on de other hand is a diff story.. Rule of thumbs abt subs is tat normally .. a bigger driver is better than a smaller one .. a bigger amp is better than a smaller one .. a bigger firmer(svs uses 6cm mdf boards for its cabinets) enclosure is better than a smaller thinner one.. a sealed sub should hv better control than a ported one but a ported can go lower .. tis is physics n normally u cant go bendin tis .. thou' compromises can be made like a small driver n a big amp can replicate a sub wif a big driver wif a smaller amp..
