i was just about to start JB my iPhone 3G when i start to see the term "custom 3.0 firmware ipsw" everywhere in tutorials...
plz correct me if im wrong about this ...

1. if we use redsn0w 0.72, it WONT allow the original 3.0 firmware from iTunes to be customized ke?
2. if answer to number 1 is yes, is it important for us to use these custom firmware? from what i have read, all i can tell is that these custom firmwares are somehow related in setting your partition size (in which i dont have idea at all what is this about ) and have things already installed while JB-ing....

can someone plz enlight me about this "custom firmware" thingy?

The 'Verifying iPhone software' message is taking too long. Is this normal? It has been showing this message for at least 15 minutes now.

i presume u have already update to firmware 3.0 rite...

then the next step is fire-up your redsnow to jailbreak d i3g.

then from cydia add d ultrasnow repo......n proceed to install ultrasnow....binggo

i try in mac the redsnow cant find the ipws!

when you get the zip folder. change the extension to ".ipsw" just remove the .zip extension and you should see the logo change

btw, my waiting for reboot screen is taking too long : ( , tried again and but its always stuck at the waiting to reboot page and my phone always fails to reboot. anyone can advice me on this?

Your reboot screen during 3.0 restore or redsn0w jailbreak?

If 3.0 restore, make sure you're on itunes 8.2 and you need patience.

refer to the first page, there a lot of info and of course the link for all those ipsw file.

already upgrade two of my iphone 2g to 3.0 !

I already downloaded version 3 and just update it to my iphone, but after i run redsnow to jailbreak it and ready to go for step install repo. Da cydia logo is not appear at my iphone menu... i already double check when i jailbreaking da install cydia already checked.

really?u download all the redshow n .ipsw for 2g iphone in this 1st pages?

Have you try to swap your the iphone usb cable to another usb port? My encountered the same problem after i updated my iphone to OS3.0, itunes cannot detect my iphone as well... but after i swapped my cable to another port, itunes detected my iphone and activated it.

good news.. i've found the source of my network and lagging problem.. it's the email push function.. after I changed it to manual, it seems that no more network problem + it's not lagging anymore..

Wow, I found out that mine is defaulted to "Fetch" as well and I've turned it off. No wonder sometimes emails are automatically downloaded, lol.

I'm also facing the same situation, why no cydia after unlocked and jailbroken? I am pretty sure cydia is checked during process.

i got some problems with updating the latest os3.0,
im using digi and ive update the software to 3.0
my iPhone is 2g and when ive done with the update on iTunes , it says that 'The simcard inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported'
what does that mean? can somebody help me. thnx.

okay i redid the restore process, now its waiting for reboot. how long does reboot usually take? cause my sim card is in it now, and i have to go out in a while. and btw, i fixed the above problem about the screen without the slide for emergency.


and calvin, im talking about jailbreak period.

ive done this all before just dont know why mine doesnt work now.
