UltraSn0w Fixer Brings UltraSn0w Unlock Compatibility for iOS 4.3.2 - April 19th, 2011

user posted image

Those of you who have updated to 4.3.2 while preserving their basebands using Sn0wBreeze or PwnageTool bundles are out of luck because the official version of UltraSn0w is not compatible with 4.3.2 yet…

Fortunately, there is UltraSn0w Fixer for 4.3.2. This app will fix UltraSn0w issues on 4.3.2 for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.

In order to get UltraSn0w Fixer to work, you need to:

QUOTE
Uninstall UltraSn0w if you already have it installed
Add this source to Cydia: http://djayb6.com
    Install UltraSn0w Fixer for 4.3.2

By installing UltraSn0w Fixer, it will automatically install UltraSn0w as a dependency.

Dev Team Releases UltraSn0w iPhone Unlock for iOS 4.3.1 - April 9th, 2011

user posted image

If you are on any of these basebands, you can update to iOS 4.3.1 while preserving your baseband using PwnageTool. If your baseband is different from the one listed above, I’m afraid there is no unlock for you at this time…

From the Dev Team blog:

QUOTE
This isn’t a new unlock!  It’s to allow those who are already using ultrasn0w to use FW 4.3.1. It also fixes the signal bar issue for those who aren’t using the unlock but retain an older baseband intentionally.

AFTER INSTALLING ULTRASN0W 1.2.1, PLEASE REBOOT YOUR iPHONE using the normal “slide to power off” swipe.  T-Mobile users in the USA also should disable 3G mode in Settings->General->Network.
You can install UltraSn0w from Cydia by adding this repo: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com

How to unlock iPhone 4.3.1 with ultrasn0w [Tutorial]

Source: iPhone Download Blog

QUOTE
user posted image

The Dev Team just released their unlock for iPhone 4.3.1. This updated version of ultrasn0w brings support for the iPhone 3Gs and the iPhone 4 that are exclusively using these basebands: 01.59.00, 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, and 06.15.00.

In this post, we’ll guide you into unlocking your iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 on any of the above basebands, and running the latest iOS 4.3.1…

First, you have to make sure your iPhone comes with any of the baseband versions listed above. If it doesn’t there isn’t much solution for you at this time.

If your iPhone is however running any of those versions, you can easily update to iOS 4.3.1 while preserving your baseband, which will allow you to unlock using ultrasn0w 1.2.1.

Step 1: You will first have to jailbreak and update your iPhone using one of these methods:

update to iOS 4.3.1 with PwnageTool [Tutorial available below], or
update to 4.3.1 while preserving 01.59.00 baseband using TinyUmbrella [Tutorial available below]

Step 2: Once you are updated to iOS 4.3.1, launch Cydia, go to Manage > Sources > Edit > Add,  and type in the following repo: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com. This will install the ultrasn0w unlock on your phone.

Step 3: After installing UltraSn0w, make sure to reboot your iPhone.

At this point, you can insert a different SIM card. If you install T-Mobile, make sure to disable 3G in Settings > General > Network.

Thats all there is to it. The whole jailbreak+unlock process is fairly easy and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

Jailbreak iPhone 4.3.1 with PwnageTool [Tutorial]

Source: iPhone Download Blog

QUOTE
The Dev Team just released a jailbreak for iPhone iOS 4.3.1, compliments of hacker i0n1c. This jailbreak will work with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPad 1, and Apple TV 2nd generation.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to use PwnageTool to jailbreak your iPhone 4.3.1 while preserving your baseband. PwnageTool is a Mac only tool and is the only way to preserve your baseband to make sure you can unlock later on…

Before you go any further, please make sure to read everything in this post, especially if you rely on an unlock.

Step 1: Download PwnageTool from our iPhone downloads section. Also download the iOS firmware for your device. Save both files on your desktop.

Step 2: Launch PwnageTool and agree to the warning by clicking OK.

Step 3: Select your device and click the blue arrow to continue.

Step 4: Select “Expert Mode”. PwnageTool should offer you the option to use the firmware you downloaded in step 1, or to browse for a firmware on your computer. If you downloaded it to your desktop, PwnageTool should find it for you automatically. Select the firmware and click the blue arrow to continue.

Step 5: Select “General” and click the blue arrow to continue.

Step 6: If you are on an official carrier (ie AT&T in the US). unselect “Activate the phone”, and move the root partition to somewhere around 1,000 MB. Click the blue arrow to continue.

Step 7: You will now be taken to the Cydia settings. From here, you can select packages to have pre-installed on your jailbroken iPhone. This is a great way to install jailbreak apps directly, which will save you time later on. For this tutorial, we will not install any package. Click the blue arrow to continue.

Step 8: You will now be taken to the “Custom Packages Settings”. Make sure “Cydia Installer” in selected. Click the blue arrow to continue.

Step 9: Select “Build” and click the blue arrow to continue.

Step 10: Select a location to save your custom iPSW. I suggest saving to the dektop. PwnageTool will now build your custom firmware, which might take a few minutes.

Step 11: Once done, PwnageTool will ask you to conenct your iPhone to your computer in order to enter DFU mode. Just plug your iPhone in.

Step 12: PwnageTool will now help you to enter DFU mode. Simply follow the instructions on the screen. Hold the Power and Home button together for 10 seconds. Release the Power button while still holding the Home button for 10 seconds. Your iPhone should enter DFU mode and PwnageTool should let you know you successfully entered DFU mode.

Step 13: At this point, all you need to do is to launch iTunes, which should tell you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.Click OK to confirm.

Step 14: Still in iTunes, hold the Option/Alt key on your Mac while clicking on Restore. Make sure you are holding the Option key. iTunes will give you the option to select a firmware to restore to. Select the custom ISPW firmware you created and saved in step 10.

Step 15: iTunes will now restore your iPhone using the custom IPSW. It’s probably going to take a few minutes. When it’s done, your iPhone will be jailbroken and running iOS 4.3.1. You should now have Cydia on your iPhone springboard. Congrats, you just jailbroke your iPhone.

How to Update to iOS 4.3.1 and Preserve iPhone 4 1.59.00 Baseband [Tutorial]

Source: iPhone Download Blog

QUOTE
Now that Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9  finally provides the long awaited iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak, many iPhone 4 owners with unlocked iPhones’ have been advised to hold off upgrading to 4.3.1 as you will lose the ability to unlock, since the newer firmware will update your baseband.

Furthermore, as we’ve mentioned earlier this morning, the new iOS 4.3.1 firmware currently is incompatible with the Dev Team’s ultrasn0w unlock tool. It is recommended that you wait for the Dev Team to update this tool before upgrading and jailbreaking.

But for those anxious to update to the new iOS 4.3.1 firmware and still preserve their iPhone 4 1.59.00 baseband so they can be guaranteed an unlock when the Dev Team updates their ultrasn0w tool, follow our tutorial below.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to upgrade your iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.1, without upgrading its baseband, using TinyUmbrella for Windows.

For those using a Mac, follow our tutorial here to preserve your baseband using Pwnage Tool.

Windows users follow our guide below to update your iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.1 and preserve your 1.59.00 baseband.

NOTE: This will only work for the iPhone 4.

If you are unsure as to what baseband your iPhone 4 is on, launch Settings > General > About  > Modem Firmware.
Step 1: Download TinyUmbrella from here
Step 2: Connect your iPhone 4 & Launch TinyUmbrella

Step 3: Click On the “Save SHSH” button

Step 4: Now, Click on start the “TSS Server” button

Step 5: While the TSS server is running, Launch iTunes

Step 6: Now, Click on Restore in iTunes (Don’t Click on Update)

Step 7: During the Restore Process, iTunes will give you Error 1013. Don’t panic, this is good. This error means your baseband has been preserved. Exit out of iTunes.

Step 8: Place your iPhone into DFU mode by holding down both the Power and Home buttons for ten seconds, then release the Power button and continue holding the Home button for another 5 seconds.

Step 9: Fix Recovery in TinyUmbrella is currently not working. Download this standalone .exe file to fix recovery on 4.3.1. Extract the file and double click on fixrecovery43.exe. A command prompt will open, and the program will go through the process. During this time, you will notice scrolling text on your iPhone 4.

Step 10: Your iPhone will now be on 4.3.1 with the 1.59.00 baseband! To jailbreak your iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.1, follow our tutorial here!

Update: The iPhone Dev Team has released an updated version of the ultrasn0w unlock tool that is compatible with iOS 4.3.1.

Note: This will only unlock iPhone 4 on 1.59.00 baseband. Follow the tutorial here to unlock your iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.1.

tested and it really works like a charm. bye bye turbosim smile.gif

Added on June 23, 2009, 6:02 pmto those who wished to unlock the iPhone 3G, here's what I did :

1. Make sure iTunes is already up-to-date (version 8.2)
2. Update iPhone 3G OS to version 3.0 using Update button on the iPhone page on iTunes
3. Then use redsn0w to Jailbreak your iPhone. Tutorial can be found here (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4301)
4. Now you can start unlocking using ultrasn0w by following the steps provided above by teikwing or you can find the tutorial here (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4325).

theoretically, yes because the 3GS have same baseband with 3G, but what happend is,3GS hardware different(proc etc) and now there still no jailbreak tools for 3GS yet, and if there is a jailbreak tools have release for the 3GS, dev team will inform either it will work with 3GS or not..

so the answer is. No, for the time being~~ blush.gif

Guys wait... I read it on Engadget that the Ultrasn0w does support the original iPhone 2G. Only 3G[S] is not supported at the moment but another release is set this coming Friday.

@MuscleNerd I'm using the old iPhone 2G. Is it necessary for me to apply UltraSn0w after jailbreaking with RedSn0w? Thanks a lot!

@net_one nope don't bother install ultrasn0w if you're on 2G. It won't kill your 2G but it just doesn't help it. BootNeuter.app unlocks 2g.

It seems geohot has made some breakthrough regarding 3G[S] jailbreak. I strongly advice the current 3G[S] users who are looking to jailbreak or unlock their devices, go do a usb dump of your images ASAP. I mean NOW!. The reason is, the images of the 3G[S] are now signed by Apple server so if Apple patched the 3G[S] exploit in the 3.0 firmware with an upgrade (i.e. 3.0.1) then it will be too late for you. For future 3G[S] owner, you should go get it ASAP to have a better chance in future jailbreaking/unlocking of your device (no guarantee though).

P.S. don't ask me how to do usb dump, google is your friend and the sifu's here may be able to help you brows.gif

Just tried it. Had to jailbreak it twice. Now its working like a charm!

WARNING!

When using redsn0w to jailbreak the iPhone. DO NOT install Icy!
My Cydia was unable to install anything because of Icy.

If you already jailbreaked and installed Icy, just run redsn0w again but DO NOT tick the Icy box!

Anyway , I do agree with cydia, icy both together will causing u guys updating or installing any app in cydia.(fixed with untick icy in Redsnow)
Also i restored my back up causing my battery drain so fast, Example the icon showing full bar,but lockscreen only 20-50%, in other words the phone

I jailbreaked with Redsnow 0.71 and there was only option for Cydia. Ultrasn0w works without any problem. I am using AT&T (not iphone plan) in USA.
