read around a bit of most say maxis broadband not so good. try other telcos such as celcom or digi. but do read around to know the condition at your location.

to know about the packages you can check out the website:

after garmin installed, check to see if the background app of garmin is running or not? it does eat up the battery if it is running. by the way, the background service can be turned off / disabled.

by the way, had a trip from kl to ipoh yesterday and had garmin running thru out the journey thru and fro (thats about 6 hours drive) and with some short calls, i started with full battery before went to sleep, morning drive and then evening around 7pm battery went flat... reason to have it on all thru is to know the speed trap locations.. brows.gif

i suppose this is normal for the battery consumption with garmin always on.. let me know if you've experienced differently.

as i know it, garmin (version 5.00.4 and above) allowed u to turn off the background service and wont run the background service without ur knowledge. so it is pretty good, i was using ver 5.00.2 last time , my e71 only last 1.5 day max, now using 5.00.4 battery life improve alot to 2.5 day under heavy edge usage and sms. i also drive bac to trg b4 using garmin (version 5.00.4 all the way (6 hour) started with full battery , reach home with 2 bar left.

these speedtraps are actually like POI's that the mapper put it in. it is however not 100% accurate as it is just information shared by the community to be aware that there is a speedtrap zone.

the policemen can camp at one place today and another tomorrow. so please do not expect the gps/map to tell you 100% accurately that there is a speedtrap.

the only way is to get a speed trap detector as these devices picks up the speed camera's wave when it bounces off other cars so you'll know that there is a speed trap ahead or somewhere near. but if the policemen were to aim the speed camera directly at you, no detector on earth can save you smile.gif

p/s: these are illegal here in malaysia.

download the POI's at this site: Malfreemaps POI Speedtraps

You'll need to run and extract the files to your garmin folder>POI and also enable warning tones in your garmin xt.

Once you run the garmin xt on ur mobile, you will hear 'alert tones' and you will notice speed trap alerts on ur garmin xt screen. The alerts shall come up 1km away from places inserted by other people who note the speed trap locations.

Since u're going down to BPahat, try to note the speed trap location before simpat ampat exit, the cop always sit behind the big road signage at middle of the road median...lock the location if you will.

I post these picture to tell the buyer becareful when you buy E71 if the market price cheaper than the other.
Those photo are enough to make a different between the original N71 and the fake E71.
