hi guys,

my luck finally came!!! after wanting to exchagne my E66 for the E71 for so long, now its the golden opportunity. thank god i didn't change earlier.

mum called me today to inform me that theres a corporate package for her from maxis, rm150 per month + rm400 to get the E71.

on top of that, i get free 500 sms-es and also free unlimited broadband package.

my current package is also the rm150 commitment, so i jsut top-up rm400 i'll get to have the E71 and unlimited 3G bandwidth...hehehehe.

really well v r here all happy for u.. welcome aboard.. mind sharing bout the maxis package abit? currently using digi (also with unlimited data plan) rm30 a month.. anyway e71 fair 200% better in term of battery under gsm as compare to utms
*
this maxis package is a corporate plan.....i believe most telco's have various plans for their corporate clients. i know HP is under digi and they got the E71 for almost free and rm150 a month commitment with free unlimited data plan. but digi only 2.5G, no 3G.

the maxis plan which i took is a rm150 commitment plan for 2 years. it comes with rm150 worth of calls and sms's. on top of this, i have free 500 sms-es and also free unlimited broadband/data. my current maxis plan is the rm150/month but i only get call and sms's for it. so it's definitely a no brainer to switch to the new plan.

if i were to get the normal consumer plan, broadband and data would already cost me rm90 a month excluding call charges and sms.

hi all,

i've gone through the whole thread and i've not found any info related to the charges for using Nokia Messaging push mail service. i went to email.nokia.com and they say it's accordance to provider.

my question is, if i were to sign up for the nokia messaging service, whenever a mail gets pushed to my handphone. will maxis charge me as data charges? or a seperate charge? because i have unlimited data plan.

Thanks in advance guys.

sorry if this has already been discussed.

No bro! No worries if ur on Data Unlimited...I'm using Nokia Email wif Data Unlimited using EDGE Digi. I received mails non-stop..more than my sms  laugh.gif ....if ur not on Data Unlimited plan therefore, u can set it to every 15mins or so, in order for the auto retrieve mails. Ive set up my Gmail, Hotmail & Yahoo..there all working fine..& the best thing is..its so simple to setup!!!

I've been using it since day one. I've called up Nokia & Digi to find out. Theres no hidden charges  thumbup.gif ...just data plan charges!
Nokia Email

Here, try this..its even better than the one on the main screen. Its a Intellisync Email application..that works just like Blackberry!!!

The main screen wan I'm using that for my office Mail Exchange. I have a total of 4 mails - Office mail, Gmail, Hotmail & Yahoo..all auto retrieving!  thumbup.gif
*
hi bro,

now i'm quite confused. hehehe, so the @setup email at the home screen, this is just a normal email application where you can set the time interval for it to retrieve your email right?

whereas the Nokia Email, it's like a blackberry which provides push email. you sign-up and then you specify your email accounts and it will automatically push the e-mail to you whenever theres a new email. correct?

so for this Nokia Email, what are the charges? issit still using the data plan?

because i read from the FAQ.

" How much does Nokia Messaging cost?
Nokia Messaging is currently provided on a trial basis. In the future, consumers will be able to acquire Nokia Messaging through an operator plan. You may incur charges in connection with the transfer and receipt of data to your mobile phone and may not be included in your flat data rate plan. Please contact your operator to know how much you will be charged."

it says that the transfer and receipt of data may not be included in our flat data rate plan. this is what i'm afraid. that i'm paying unlimited data already, but then for this push mail service, it's not using the data plan and then i have to incur addition cost......wahhh...

All of them are based on Data Plan..no worries! Just relax & setup ur Nokia Email  laugh.gif

Its up to you whether u wan it like Blackberry or manual retrieve! Its customizable!

okok cool!!! if thats the case i'll use the Nokia Email then. if i were to use the normal email, it cannot auto retrieve windows live mail. it only allows us to synchronise... ehhehe

I'm a touch typist, like most of us here I believe. It's odd and hard to adapt to using two fingers instead of 5 on actual Qwerty keyboard(which is why we have it, so we can blindly type).

I honestly wonder what's the plus point of Qwerty on mobile phone? We don't remember where the keys are, but instead on the real keyboard, we just put index finger on F and J, little finger on A etc. which is impossible to do on mobile phone.
*
actually i find QWERTY keypads very very useful. as i can memorize the alphabets location on a QWERTY keyboard. using my 2 thumbs to type on a QWERTY keypad is definitely faster than typing on a normal numeric keypad.

i guess it's because im too familiar with the alphabets location i can actually pre-anticipate where my thumbs shud go nxt for the following alphatbet that i want to type.

at 1st, it's abit slow coz need to get use to the smaller placing of the alphabets...but now it's as though im typing from an actual keyboard, but only using two thumbs...you'll be surprised how fast i can type with 2 thumbs on a QWERTY keypad mobile phone hehehehe.

hi all,

my corporate plan just got activated today. so im trying to activate the nokia email at email.nokia.com

but i'm still using my E66 now, as i will be getting my E71 this week. if i were to register for my nokia email account with the E66 phone as my phone model, will i face any complications when i change to my E71? or i can always update the profile later to my new phone?

Added on June 1, 2009, 4:11 pmok, i registered and inside my account i can anytime just choose a new phone and it will send me a download link for my new phone.

this nokia email is good. so far i'm getting push e-mails instead of the automatic retrieval from the phones default email.

bought it at a Nokia shop for RM55. not really a Nokia shop though...just a big handphone shop in Digital Mall USJ...sharing the same unit as U-Mobile.

Added on June 3, 2009, 11:56 amhey all,

to those using Nokia Email. i'd like to find out something from you all. just to be more specific, this is the email software which is installed when you register for email.nokia.com, not the one the normal email software that came with the phone.

i realize even after i read my emails, it will still show the latest mail header at my home screen. the only way to make it not appear is to delete the mail.

kinda irritating though. i can't seem to find the setting to disable/enable it.

any workaround? thanks

i'm using the normal messaging apps to check my emails using imap server. i am having the same situation. As long as the emails are still in the server, the header will appear in my phone. After downloading the emails to my thunderbird in my pc (pop server) the emails will be removed from server and no longer appear in my phone.

i guess this imap server is used to 'view' the emails in the server so it will still appear as long as its still in the server.
*
hey attahun, the normal messaging apps i got no problem. even if i delete it from phone and server or delete from phone only....at least once it's read....it won't appear at the home screen.

i'm facing this problem when using the Nokia Email app, and the latest email will always appear even after i read it.

is there anyway to capture a screenshot of my phone? a picture is worth a thousand words hehehe.

but it's something like this.

@ 0 new in meng2108@bigahem.com
@ 0 new in other mailboxes
[mail icon] test2

the test2 is the subject of the latest email in my meng2108@bigahem.com mailbox. in order for it to not appear, i'll have to delete the mail. even if i read it, the mail icon will just change to gray instead of yellow for unread.

today when i was at Sunway Mentari. i can see my reception bar going up n down like see-saw. then it kept switching between 2.5G and 3.5G

then i could feel my phone was damn hot, and then i couldn't receive calls/sms and couldn't make any calls/sms.

i off-on the phone again then it went back to normal.

could this be because the network was fluctuating that caused the phone to kinda hang?

U using wat telco? if u dont use 3g turn it to gsm mode only.. Dual mode will cause the phone to constantly looking for 3g hence eat up battery and heat up as ur line is in a middle of the two (2.5g and 3g) wat to do our country telco 3g network is no so stable yet.
*
i'm using Maxis 3G as i'm using Nokia's push mail for my work mail and other mails. i think the 3G network in sunway not stable thats why. well i can always just fix it to gsm mode only and use Edge for my mails i guess coz im downloading headers only.

anyways, thanks for the Borat voice....freaking funny and awesome when i tested it out this morning to work ehhehehe
