1. Yes, most of us already upgraded.
2. Look up on YouTube. It's DIY-able.
3. Clone is easier I think. Try SuperDuper. You can also reinstall everything and start fresh.
4. Should not void if you do it properly.

if you wanna start fresh, yeah, go buy the drive, swap the old one out, and install from the recovery CD.

Got mushkin 2x4GB for RM246 yesterday. Unfortunately the shop give me 1333Mhz. It's actually a simple mistake. Told them I need ram for mbp 2010 and straight away the seller said need to use 1066Mhz. So I said OK. Unfortunately he take 1333Mhz. I also don't realize.

After install, my mbp will not boot. Mixed 1 old 2gb and 1 new 4gb it boot fine. Dunno why the mbp 2010 really can't run on 1333Mhz. When I mixed it will auto underclock the 1333Mhz so it's will run fine.

After searching around, I use thaipoon burner (windows - need to install windows for this.) software to change the memory data from 1333 to 1066. Just need to change 1 stick. Fortunately the mushkin memory allow write access to memory data.

Now running 8GB.

@uniquexme As far as I know all 2.5'' should fit and internal and external HDD are the same.

I upgraded to a Hitachi 500GB 7K500 7200 RPM HD

@JohnnyBeGud not true. some new 2.5" are more than 9.5mm... so will not fit a MacBook / Pro.

what do u mean by 'can do the job'? are you trying to compare a slow cpu / more RAM comp to a fast cpu / less RAM comp?

better CPU = generally faster computer
more RAM = can do more things at once

8gb mbw 2009 maybe only will feel faster (compared to the 2010 mbp) at >4gb load.

maybe u can tell us what's on ur mind n why are u comparing between the two? and what job are we talking about here?

only got two... 9.5mm and 12.5mm i think. but i guess both should fit in any MBP just fine. it's the older pre-unibody (15", not sure if the 17" is fine) ones that they cant fit in

I just got myself a 2x 4gb of Kingston KVR 1333 ram for my MBP 13" (2011).....
Bought it for Rm250 at Digital Mall...

Works perfectly.... Don't bother buying KTA ram which is double the price of the KVR ram....

No, my mean is is MBW late 2009 can support up to 8GB? since the max i heard is 6GB. Just wonder would it perform full 8GB performance.
