QUOTE(alexilyne @ May 7 2011, 07:20 PM) it happend couple of days after i upgraded my software to 10.6.7 Maybe there's a glitch in software 10.6.7. Wait for another software update from Apple and use a normal mouse in the mean time.after reinstalling,it still does that. it'll highlighted text randomly and does this clicking gesture even though i'm not touching the pad. |

QUOTE(uniquexme @ May 11 2011, 09:13 AM) anyone tried replacing mbp HDD with larger capacity? i would like to change but no idea how to. do we need to reinstall everything or we can just clone all data to the new hdd? will it void the warranty? 1. Yes, most of us already upgraded.2. Look up on YouTube. It's DIY-able. 3. Clone is easier I think. Try SuperDuper. You can also reinstall everything and start fresh. 4. Should not void if you do it properly. |

@uniquexme As far as I know all 2.5'' should fit and internal and external HDD are the same.
I upgraded to a Hitachi 500GB 7K500 7200 RPM HD |

QUOTE(aneip @ May 11 2011, 01:34 PM) Got mushkin 2x4GB for RM246 yesterday. Unfortunately the shop give me 1333Mhz. It's actually a simple mistake. Told them I need ram for mbp 2010 and straight away the seller said need to use 1066Mhz. So I said OK. Unfortunately he take 1333Mhz. I also don't realize. I would like to express my utmost gratitude to aneip for his above post. I bought 2X4GB 1333Mhz Corsair rams so that I could install them on my 2010 13'' MBP. To my horror the were not working. I even send one back for replacement. aneip's post really shed some light and I finally managed to run on 8GB After install, my mbp will not boot. Mixed 1 old 2gb and 1 new 4gb it boot fine. Dunno why the mbp 2010 really can't run on 1333Mhz. When I mixed it will auto underclock the 1333Mhz so it's will run fine. After searching around, I use thaipoon burner (windows - need to install windows for this.) software to change the memory data from 1333 to 1066. Just need to change 1 stick. Fortunately the mushkin memory allow write access to memory data. Now running 8GB. ![]() |

Guys, when Lion comes out, I'm thinking of splashing the cash and buy a SSD for my MBP. But I currently know little about SSDs apart from how the perform much faster than HDDs. Any recommendation on what SSD I should buy for a budget between RM 600-700? And does installing them is as easy as installing a normal HDD? does they require additional softwares?

Where can I buy Apple certified SSD? From what I understand, only Apple certified SSDs can use TRIM support in OSX..

@BRY7 No I'm not sure myself. But Apple certified RAMs are right? If they are not in the normal market, how are we gonna use SSDs with TRIM support in our Macs?
Hopefully Lion will support TRIM for third party SSDs |

@RaplaJingga IIRC MBA's ram are not self-upgradable. Check your user manual and see if there is a section on upgrading rams..

QUOTE(soonwai @ Aug 13 2011, 12:12 AM) 1. You can do a clean install from the DVDs that comes with your Mac. Just put in the new HD and boot from the OS X Install DVD. Very easy one. If you have data on the old HD, put it into a external USB case and use Migration Asst to transfer everything back in. What do you mean by the bolded part?2. Other way is as the previous post, clone your old HD to the new one. This will be the more appropriate method if you already have data on it. ps: If you have Lion, you can burn Lion to a DVD and use that instead of the Snow Leopard DVDs that came with your MacBook. Is it "if you have Lion installed" or "if you have the Lion installer"? If its the former, how to make a Lion DVD? I've already installed Lion and I would like to make a Lion DVD for emergency purposes. But, the only way I know of burning Lion to a DVD is from the installer which was gone after i've installed. |

QUOTE(gfx @ Nov 2 2011, 12:41 PM) hey guys, thinking about upgrading to SSD for my MBP 13" 2011. from what i read here, the only way to put both SSD and HDD is by removing the superdrive, and it decreases the battery power slightly, correct? can this be done by myself? and is it easy? 1. Decreases battery? - checkanother thing, to those that upgraded yours, where did you bought your SSD? how much, and can I store my APPS in the HDD? thank you.. 2. DIY? - check 3. Easy? - check albeit a little scary 4. Bought mine from garage sales. Price varies. 5. I'm not sure if you can store your apps on the HDD but I would think that it is counter productive since the main reason you buy SSD is speed. P/s: it'll void your warranty, so think carefully before deciding. |

@gfx quite frankly, I upgrade my MBP to a dual HDD/SSD setup not because of my needs, but because of the temptation to customize my MBP to the max
Joking aside, its true what others are saying that SSD is the best upgrade you could make, and once you've feel the SSD, you won't go back to HDD. |

@krazee_k If you put in the combination of 1066 and 1333, it'll work. Why don't you make do with that combination first while trying to find a Windows machine with Thaiphoon burner. Do note that not all rams can be down clocked, so google first. If they can't, no other choice but to sell/trade.
