Hi all, i'm currently using late 2009 Macbook white.
I found that the macbook actually quite slow when i open few program.
For now, i'm opening Adium, Transmission, Safari, Real Player, and Tweetdeck.
So when it comes to switching programs each other, it become very slow.
Especially when i drag the real player movie time, to move fast forward or backward.
Anyone experience this? Can share how should i do?
Is that RAM not enough? I'm using 2GB fyi.

TS do us a favour will u? launch the apps u've mentioned n try playing said video in realplayer. then launch Activity Monitor (use spotlight). on the top section sort by RSIZE, then at the bottom pick System Memory. take a screenshot n post it up here smile.gif maybe we can try to determine ur problem

page out depends on the page in. but looking at ur apps i believe u have enough RAM and free HDD space so they shouldnt be a problem.
*
weird, when i try launch back the system that i mentioned.
The page out become 16.7MB instead of 170+mb that i said previously. wtf..
will be observe for a while more. If something goes weird i ll post the screen shot out.
hehe.

i asked Machines, Sunway for 2 x 2GB RAM for my MB white unibody. They quote me RM698 for both. The price is overprice isn't it? Can anyone intro some place which i can buy it at cheaper price and they will help me replace the ram?

i upgraded 2x4GB muskin 1066 DDR3 ram few days ago. ran apple hardware test(although most say not realiable), normal web surfing, light photoshopping and played some games. so far so good.

*btw, i'm using MBP 15" 2010, bought it end of Q3.
*
Mind to teach what's apple hardware test? Coz i plan to check mine also.

Apple iMac newbie here.
Looking to get the new RM 3,799.00 iMac.
Few question :

1.If i want to upgrade the Ram, can i just buy the Ram off any lowyat store and plug it in?

2.How about Hard Disk Upgrade? Is it easily upgradeable ?
*
For me i feel it's difficult than changin it in Macbook. I'd prefer to cirect customize thru apple store online. smile.gif

what do u mean by 'can do the job'? are you trying to compare a slow cpu / more RAM comp to a fast cpu / less RAM comp?

better CPU = generally faster computer
more RAM = can do more things at once

8gb mbw 2009 maybe only will feel faster (compared to the 2010 mbp) at >4gb load.

maybe u can tell us what's on ur mind n why are u comparing between the two? and what job are we talking about here?

No, my mean is is MBW late 2009 can support up to 8GB? since the max i heard is 6GB. Just wonder would it perform full 8GB performance.

I thought so too, eyes almost popped out when they replied me.

Where is a good alternative place to get it upgraded apart from Machines?

I know many would say DIY but i am no techy person as most guys would be. Hahaha

thanks!
*
Seriously it's really easy to DIY yourself leh. Save the RM900. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
Just follow the procedure from your Macbook user manual / Youtube..

performance improvement for RAM upgrade greatly differs from machine to machine. it really depends on ur usage. if u dont do a lot of high memory stuff, then u wont see any difference
*
No, not asking of the performance of usage. I mean is Macbook white 09 able to hold up to 8GB RAM or not? Not sure if this question being answered before but i greatly appreciate if there's reply. hehe..
