Yah, if you need the Handycam/4GB memory card, then you can take the full package. If you already have Handycam, then another extra cam might not serves the purpose.

After all, the cam need to be sell off, to get the profit back for the Plasma TV. So that the reason, most shop owners are reluctant to separates the purchases.

Yeah, my mistake. The actual model is TH-P50X10K. RM3400.00 is really cheap for 42" Plasma.

I don't understand the high price for 50x10 (as compared to the 42").

The RRP for 42x10 in the US is $899 whereas the 50x10 is at $1099 (i.e. 22% higher than 42")

However, here in Malaysia, the price difference is RM3699 vs RM5699 (both with free gifts). Without the free gifts, the prices are roughly RM2900 vs RM4900 - this is a hefty 69% premium for the 50"!

Can someone pls explain why the big difference between the 50" vs 42"? Import duty can't be the reason cuz it's a fixed tax rate on the value of the TV (regardless of the size). I would imagine that the right price difference should be in the range of 20-30% -- if 42x10 retails for RM3k, then 50x10 should be less than RM4k.

Any explanations?

1 big plasma glass panel can produce 8 units of 42" Panel OR 4 units of 50" panel OR 2 units of 65" panel OR 1 units of 103" panel.

the more number of plasma panel being made will reach economies of scale, which means lower the production cost and vice versa.

if you can understand this production theory, it clearly tells you the reason why 130" plasma tv costs so much expensive than 65" than 50" than 42" than 37"...etc

I think it has something to do with USA's huge and very competitive HDTV market.

It's got everything to do with the local distributors making as much money as they possibly can from the products they sell. So, it's up to the individual to decide if the 70% premium for the extra 8 diagonal inches is worth your money.

what bull lah. Nothing to do with the huge market. UK also so cheap and yet, UK has only double the population of Malaysia.

So the big question again is, why is Panasonic having such big price disparity between 42 and 50 inch panels.

No logic. 70% is way too high.

Furthermore, in developed markets like UK, there are more brands to choose from and consumers have a bigger choice. There are more than 10 major brands competing for 58 mil people

In Malaysia, only 5 or 6 strong brands.

And yet, these 5 or 6 can capture 25 million people
