PD7 runs great in Lion. The full screen mode is awesome too. To make windows guest runs fast, get at least 8GB of RAM for your laptop and assign 4GB the machine. I run it on my OCZ SSD and it boots really fast. Can play heavy games too in it like Hot Pursuit and Assassin Creed because you can assign up to 1GB of video RAM for the machine.

QUOTE(wiraone @ Sep 24 2011, 07:43 AM) I believe the price of PD7 + Win7 should be the same as buying the Office for Mac student edition. Why going for a headache.. Btw, it comes with 3 license codes too.. Might be able to sell the two license codes to your buddies Hi wiraone, do you means that Parallels Desktop comes with 3 license codes and can legally install to 3 machines? If yes then may be i can get a license from my friend who the PD6. Thanks!!!

Price for now:- If you have VMware Fusion 3 you can upgrade to parallels for only USD 29.99, normal price USD 49.99 - Great bargain > LinkIf you are a new user the best bang for the buck is buying VMware Fusion 4 full version for USD 49.99 where else Parallels 7 is USD 79.99. Moreover Vmware Fusion 4 can be installed on all the Macs you have for personal use. LinkSpeed wise as far as booting and resuming VMs Parallels is super fast. Resume from suspend mode only take seconds. Cheers!

The most you could give Win7 is 2GB .. unless if you don't run anything else on your Mac .. probably up it to 3GB but surely don't give to the max. It is advisable to upgrade your RAM to at least 8GB if you're running VM though I was more than happy having WinXP Pro running under VMWare Fusion (1GB RAM for it) on my old end-2006 MBP (3GB RAM max) for the last 4 years This post has been edited by wiraone: Oct 6 2011, 09:51 PM

Btw, I bought mine at Sunway Pyramid Machines, you might want to give it a try.

This is the second time I had a bad experience with the KLCC Machines' staff. And Sunway Pyramid is a bit far away from where I'm staying. My PD7 trial period is also coming to an end. Haih, it looks like I have to pay premium price for it after all.. P/S: anyone tried to buy PD7 directly from their website? Will they accept paypal?

Is it really okay to run VM on a SSD as the read/write IO is relatively heavy? Will it degrade its lifespan faster? I plan to run VM on it too.

Greetings fellow forumers. I'm realitively new to Mac and would like to seek some advice from experienced fellas out here. For starters, I'm initiating my shift from Windows to Mac OS platform and as such, my latest investment is on a Mac Mini to which I plan to equip with 8Gb of ram and a 240gb SSD. Purpose of the setup is mainly for photo editing and entertainment but I do plan to run some moderate gaming on it. Here r my questions: 1. Would it be advisable to install PD and run VM on this setup? Is the specs adequate to cope with win7 as the VM? 2. I only plan to use the windows VM when needed. As such, most of the time, I rather no resources goes to PD at all. Is that possible or PD runs automatically at startup? Or is it simply just a software to which I first need to run? Hope u guys can shed some light here for me. The thought of having two OS running is welcoming for me but I rather prefer if I have the option to turn it on only when I need it. Tq

As the name implies, it's just a virtual machine. So you can turn it on whenever you need to. I'm using the base MBP equipped with 8GB and I would say it is sufficient to run VM and some application at the same time.
Other sifus might have better opinion on this one.

I myself is using VMWare Fusion 4 and as far as gaming in virtual machine is a concern, DreamFall plays just nice with everything maxed out in native resolution. It's one of my loved classics :-)

Running on 4GB of RAM and OCZ Vertex 2 120GB SSD. My question is : 1) why the game cannot appear in full screen? even though i switched to full screen it still won't enlarge to full screen.. 2) last time played on bootcamp, running on HDD..everything went smooth. but on pd7 got some lagging. I thought PD7 can run heavy games. do i need to configure the allocated memory usage for PD7. currently running 1GB and cpu 1. last time using pd5 the memory can up to 2GB..but why on pd7 it only recommended up till 1.5GB? Hope u guys could give an advice...thanks
