all mas tickets are assigned seats, you don't get to choose ur seat, but they choose for u, rather than being like sitting in the bus where u find ur seat in the plane.

price may vary on the same flight, it depends on when u bought the ticket, if ur cousin bought way advance, the price may be cheaper.

if you are unsure, u can always call mas ticketing office to confirm the price u paid for, I am sure they're willing to answer ur doubts, or u can ask your friend to produce the receipt for which shows the price she paid.

hmm.gif do you know actually we can choose our seat when we check in online... not like bus la... aiyooo...

thanks .. I think I better write and call Mas.

You actually can choose preferred seat (similar like choosing seat when you buying GSC online ticket) and there is no extra charge for it. You just need to buy the air ticket and use the web check in for advance check in and choose your preferred seat. You can get more details about web check in in MAS website > HERE

Hey all,

Based on my experience, I would not buy MAS low fare or promo tickets anymore. So called national carrier with good customer service... sigh.... so sad.. cry.gif cry.gif

We bought tickets to Bangkok, for the 6 of us during MATF in March. We are supposed to fly on 7 May 2010... But now...the situation Bangkok is getting worse and worse by the day... Bombing here and there... Road access blocked by Red Protestors.. Sigh...

Due to the worsening situation, we request for MAS to allow us change destination... We thought can change ma, since we are willing to pay the difference in price... But MAS dun allow!!!! Say based on Terms and Conditions, we cannot refund and change destination... And MAS only allow us to defer our flight till 31st May 2010 subject to availability and need to top up our price difference... And If we want to defer our flight later than 31st May, MAS said this" However, please note that there is a ticket reissuance fee of MYR150 per passenger and the ticket fare would need to reassessed to the next fare and the difference in amount shall be charged the travelling date with a fee. "

I understand when I bought the tix, I agreed to the terms and conditions.. but this time, not to say I dont want to go ma... is Bangkok not safe to go!!! Later we go there, we might just be bombed! I am so disappointed and sad about this. Never thought that MAS dont have any sense of social responsibilities...

Plus this holiday was supposed to celebrate my birthday!! Now, 6 of us just have to waste our ticket... costs us RM3000... what a waste... cry.gif cry.gif

I'll never fly MAS anymore! aargghhhh

I think you should take up this case. It's quite dangerous to be in Bangkok and MAS should really be more responsible. Maybe write a complain letter to MAS?

get-the-deal is only for one-way.

for 2-way ticket, you need to do separate search.

get-the-deal is for return too.
i've bought 11 return tickets to Bali from get-the-deal

Wth... MAS is damm cunning when it comes to their Enrich redemption.

I was trying to redeem my miles for 2 return tickets to singapore. As i couldn't use the enrich online site (cos they still haven't send me a new password after i requested to change the email address for like a week) i decided to call their call center and spoke directly with their enrich redemption booking staff.

I asked the staff how much points is needed for a return flight to singapore. She says 20k per person. As i only have 39,019 points in my account, i said is there a way to top up or can i transfer from another account. She says can, charges are RM0.10 + RM 40 for direct purchase and RM 0.035 + RM 40 for transfer. As my gf also have an enrich account with about 3k points, i said i'll opt for the points transfer to make it a total of 40k. I asked is there any other fees i need to pay and she said no.

So i did the booking through the phone and after that i called my gf to transfer 1k points to my account. We paid RM 75 in total for the transfer. I wanted to go to MAS office tomorrow to get the tickets processed.

Then at night i received a mail about my new password for Enrich Online. So i just thought, why not give the online redemption a try and see how it is. keyed in all the info and go through the booking process, then i realized at the side there which states my total fees : 40,000 Miles Points + RM 308 tax. I'm like wtf? still need to pay tax? When i asked them, the reservation staff didn't say anything about booking.

If i knew i have to add summore money to pay the tax, i woudn't have even bothered to change my miles for a flight. This was my first time changing miles as i've accumulated them from travelling on company's business. The reason why i chose to redeem the miles is because they are going to expire and i was trying to find a cheaper way to singapore. that blardy Rm 300 tax is already 2 return tickets to singapore on Air Asia.

So dammed pissed now... I called their center again and they say cannot do anything now cos system down... have to call again tmr.

Stupid piece of crap... already wasted so much money calling them to change my email and send the password.. Call for 5 days, today only send the password after i threatened lodge a report against them. Now this piece of crap happen.

Added on May 5, 2010, 12:17 amnow i wasted RM 75 for nothing... i'm gonna make alot of noise tmr until they refund me the transfer...

By Tax you mean the Airport/kerosene taxes and co that comes along the plane ticket right?

If that's so I think it's the "normal" way of doing things.

Like how AA sometimes advertise "Free tickets" but still need to pay a bit for these taxes, I guess MAS do same for their miles redemption.
Ticket is free through miles but still need to pay the taxes

Sucks though, I did not know exactly how it worked and seems you found out the bad way sad.gif

If they told me in the first place when i made a phone reservation, then i wouldn't have made a fuss out of it... problem was i asked, how much points i need to change, and confirmed again that that's all i need to redeem 2 flight tickets. The sales person said yes.

i only found out about the tax when i went online (after they sent me the password after 5 days delay) and after i've made the points transfer from another account... RM 300 tax i might as well just take a bus down... whole point of using my miles was to save money...

Too bad Raist86. That normal for ticket redemption. Thats why I always go to upgrade option rather than redeem ticket with enrich points.

is it ok to bring 1 hand carry plus 1 laptop backpack?
my laptop bag kinda big, which is everki beacon
so im worried if it's too big.. thus i can carry either the laptop bag or the hand carry only..
i'm going to glasgow in june, transit at heathrow airport on BA..

Not sure about this but my brother ever carry laptop bag + hand carry before. But, you need to confirm this with MAS. And, BA's rules different from MAS. You need to ask BA also.

Hello.. I got some question here about domestic check in with Mas.

I am going to Penang this June. My flight will depart from Heathrow and probably will arrive at 2pm at KLIA.

The problem is, i am not transit there bcoz travel with ETihad airways from London. My flight to Penang will be at 4pm.

so, I only have about 2 hours to collect my luggage and then check in with MAS.

Will i make it?

I am so worried about this.. sigh~

You have a very tight schedule there. pray hard there wouldn't be delays on the flight and the baggage collection part.

Good luck.
