after looking at the price, mbp's prices looked like they are over priced. i mean 7677 for 27" and i7 seems like a pretty sweet deal to me.  nod.gif

Then wait for a refresh lar.... the current lines of MBPs are already 6 months old... and you have to understand, Apple's playing a balance between Thinnovation and Power, so don't expect the MBPs to be as powerful as the iMac. They're both catered to different market segments.

that is a very helpful comment, erm can i ask why do u find the 21.5 imac screen so attractive? is it becuz of its size? glossy screen? color? or everything
*
eh i never noticed the yellow tint. even if u notice it, still can calibrate right? also, programming need to have accurate colour? hehe

either way the iMac screen is IPS and personally i think that's the best value. looks a lot better than other run of the mill 21" inch monitor. plus u get a really nice mouse to boot.

of course, if u dun care abt a better screen, wireless keyboard n mouse, n dun mind a lower speed.. then the mac mini is for u. the price difference can fund something else

Hi all,

I was hoping that you can give me some opinions on whether the iMac will suit me. You see i have always been fascinated with the iMac and recently I need to get myself a desktop. My nature of work would include the usage of Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Dreamweaver and the normal usual ones like Microsoft Office. I also take photographs as a hobby but nothing fancy. Most of the people that I deal with use Windows platform however I really want to try using the iMac.

Any opinions? Thanks in advance. smile.gif

go buy now! thumbup.gif

and it's Adobe Dreamweaver now by the way heheh, where got macromedia anymore tongue.gif since u mentioned photography, ur photos will look damn good on the iMac's IPS display! Anyway I'd recommend adobe Lightroom to edit ur photos...much simpler to use, although PS has much more features.

the first few weeks might be hard for you if u're too used to windows, but juz read around the internet n have a look at the videos at apple.com website if u face any trouble. if still cant find, juz ask here.

faster go buy! haha

no you cannot upgrade the graphic card yourself. it doesnt use graphic 'cards' in the 1st place, juz the chips.

500GB vs 1TB hard drive only u can decide. 21" or 27" also u decide tongue.gif obviously the bigger the better, but it's a question of money

for the 21", just ask urself if u want/need the Radeon. what do you expect to do with the iMac? for most tasks the 9400M is already pretty good (most of the time i juz use the 9400M tongue.gif). u'll juz need the Radeon for gaming and serious 3D stuff.

having said that, i'm not sure if the Radeons will work with OpenCL :S but this doesnt matter today

Hi , I'd like to confirm , the 9400M is shared RAM with the main memory ? And the ATi Radeon is dedicated RAM ? ( both on latest iMac 21.5" )
Thank you .

i am planning to get myself an imac, but i dunno whether to get a quad or duo core version.

Based on my research, core 2 duo is going to be replaced by i3 or i5 in the near future. So getting a quad core seems to be better, but the thing is, this mac will only be used in this few years time, and can the quad core being fully utilize within this period? since there is not much app utilize multicore.

so, i5 or core 2 duo?
