Kancil 660M 1995. mileage around 156xxx

my wife travels to UM everyday from Subang, despite the some traffic jams (go 945am , back 4pm), kancil averages out 17km/l

Same geng kancil first batch 95. mine 660M GX silver. now only clocked 149XXX only use for go to Uni and bring gf.. haha 17km/L on aircond. 20km/L off aircond and drive slowly(when pocket no money fill fuel) tongue.gif

Guys, I wanna buy a Kancil for my brother.. He's 18 and I think a Kancil would be suitable for his first car..

Between L5 turbo and 1000cc engine, which is better in term of fc, pickup, maintenance? Thanks smile.gif

u mean a kancil with a 1000cc engine? this would be simplier to maintain but legality would be another thing.

i would suggest a stock L5 turbo manual. stock form its known to run very well, good fc, maintenance might be tricky to source for certain parts.

suggest you to get kancil with kelisa engine..cheap to maintan and very2 good FC(better than 850cc kancil), pickup and maintenance cost is also cheap cuz the sparepart can easily get. if u take L5 turbo , once your engine got problem it will cost you huge $$..

I know kelisa engine is very reliable.. I use one, but I never drive any L5 turbo before.. Just want some advice for those who used to drive both L5 turbo and Kelisa engine..

the reason I asked is it is much easier to get Kancil L5 rather than Kancil with 1000cc engine.. I surf at mudah, and there's only several of it and the choices are very limited..

btw, is turbo "hard" to maintain? I heard lots of negative stuffs about turbo maintenance.. sorry, but I never drive any turbos before..

i knew a little .. i have kelisa chasis.. its damn fine... cant get vibration issue off that most kelisa face.. Perodua ori mount cost like 1.2k to get 3 pcs engine mount.. and kelisa original wiring failed me .. as alternator always kong-ed ... send to check wiring and no fault found.. hahaha end up with turbo engine at the moment to get whole wiring replaced...
stock kelisa engine in kelisa body oso can reach good FC.. why not in kancil body which is lighter..


and i also have kancil turbo .. which already went thru with a few phase of engine mod.. smile.gif..

1st engine were stock one.. no need to mentioned here.. lotsa shud share same info in here..
2nd stock L2 engine manual... fuel efficient.. fast pikap..
3rd modded L2 engine.. go thru full overhaul from previous one.. change with SAGA1.3 piston.. 72mm.. bore up extra 4mm.. hi compression engine with hi boost td04-09 diesel .. running 1.5bar daily... endup blown...
4rd.. L2 rebuild from previous engine.. 73mm piston.. hi cam.. 2.bar .. 390cc injector replace main injcetor.. and 1x450cc extra injector.. fuel damn rich.. 80km like 20liter... hahaha beat that.. but satisfied.. twice went for nilai drag.. twice bring back medal .. smile.gif
5th engine sold 4th...went back to stock one L2..
6th.. rebuild back 5th engine with 72mm low comp engine..really tough as running stock boost with stock turbine..
7th sold 6th engine and going for ef-rl L5 turbo engine auto... syiokkk auto smile.gif.. but the auto gearbox rosak after not taking care of it...overdue ATF.i guess.. .. hahaha..
8th .. same engine with 7th one.. but do top overhaul.. with change to manual gearbox back... getting roughly 330km for full tank town.. and my bro take hiway 460 km...

its not hard to maintain a turbocharged engine.. but sure u follows the schedule.. if keep the engine stock much better... if u already UP BOOST then only cost u extra money hahaha


my kelisa turbo now clock 231xxxkm...
kancil turbo now clock 200xxxkm...
i guess no problem maintaining turbo engine..

I went on test drive L5 turbo this morning.. for pickup, L5 turbo indeed faster than my Kancil with Kelisa engine.. Now I understand the turbo hypes biggrin.gif but each time I press the pedal, the "power" will only come like one second later.. but then the car would just "cruise".. Seems like there is "lag" each time I press the pedal down.. Is this normal?

Differ from Kelisa engine where power would be "there" instantly as soon you press the pedal down.. but for acceleration, L5 turbo is indeed faster..

I don't know about the fc yet, but I guess I'll buy the L5 turbo for my brother.. If he doesn't like it, I'll told him to drive mine tongue.gif

would like to ask the cost for kancil paint job..solid black..not 2k paint..anyone know what's the price now?

had just finish collecting jdm parts for my kancil.so need repaint.xD

Guys,
I'm figuring out the high FC on my L5 turbo. For RM40 I seem to sometimes get 240km - 280km only. Not that I'm the pedal to the metal kind of driver. Just daily ride on 60% highway 40% elsewhere. I used to get 300km for it.

Could it be that my O2 sensor is malfunctioning? Running rich mostly?

have u heard about "no replacement for displacement" hehehe... raw power from engine itself... the use of extra CC .. i mean the benefit having higher cc...

"lag" is time needed for turbo need to spoool up to certain round per minute before it create enough boost to provide engine enough compression to burn the fuell ....

solid black nowdays were like 1.8k - 2k RM... paint my kelisa in 2010 cost me 2.7k... metallic

yeap guys, that why i scratching head, any solution?

i didn't foot my accelerator lately, but still , same.

change to Shell 95 from Petronas 95, now still 1st tank, reach 150km estimate result, 20km++ extra and no power gain

every time i pump RM40. the needle will touch the F stopper. then i'll refuel once the needle pass through the E alphabet.

the car didn't have any service lately, just the aircon compressor RM500 gone.

unfortunately, a combination of heavy downpour+ window fogging+ no road lighting + curvy road yesterday caused me to oversteer kancil off to the road divider. car jumped heavily, rim deformed + tyre burst instantly

TOTAL damaged today rm 820, changed front lower arm( rm120 each) , goodyear stock tire (rm135 each), alignment rm25, + some mis spare parts, break pads etc. cry.gif

glad to be stil alive, n relatively small damaged. kancil lives on another day laugh.gif

Help!! Front bottom part 'kluk kluk kluk' when tight turn on the left especially 1,2 & 3 gears when acceleration hard.. minor or no sound when tight turn on the right.. it even sound 'klak klak klak' when running straights from 60km/h start and on fifth gear.. if use fourth gear drag till 80km/h also same sound.. the 'klak klak' sound is constant with the speed of the wheel.. so is it possible that my front left drive shaft is giving out? if yes, how much is a reliable drive shaft for kancil? i had bad experience with taiwan drive shaft.. makes my car shake like hell on accelerate.. =.=
