Sorry but what is ATF? I'm bad with terms lol...

So, shud I play with the bodyparts+interior 1st before going wild with the engine transplant?(of course, after reviving my old engine for a good driving experience) , i think suspension rili need to change de haha... n maybe sport rims, ive looked around.. L2 rims with tyres for RM500 onwards.

on the other hand, im curious about the L2 maintenance. some say affordable, according to ur drive style, some say still painful and delicate... i myself isnt a racing-minded driver, i dont rempit on the road(except when Im alone or late nite or really in a hurry) I jz wan self-satisfaction becoz i love numbers (before-after efforts) , as long as i dont gatal2 with my right foot, L2 can last long right lol
*
last long as if u do transplant and dont do further modification on it. hahha

otherwise u going same route with me and ekiddie.. haha i guess u have to PM him personally to listen some up n downs with modded L2 turbo. tongue.gif

bro u can browse http://www.kcarlife.com for all the stuff u need...
btw ussually u can get a dashboard L5 with blower+non-rpm meter for rm350..add another rm100 for installation+wiring.
u said u have 10k to modi...then just go tru one time all plug in...can get cheaper coz u buy alot at one time then u buy one by one..
or to be extreme fast just by one car halfcut complete(engine,4 door power window,dashboard,seat,front/rear body part and rim) i think with 10k u even can get a new color for ur car n ur car will be ready for autshowwwwwwww.... thumbup.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif  brows.gif

if u can try to custom made the absorber. try titan. try to do a bigger absorber rod and bigger casing. i guess that would do the job.

next to titan brand is HWL adjustable. many would say adjustable is quite harsh . but nope. i best way getting handling and comfort.

thanks for the info.
will most prob make one rather than buying. That'll be later.

cause now car engine giving more prob..power loss is tremendous. even 4ton lorry can overtake me on slopes..seriously considering a engine transplant. But a non turbo engine..if cant find a ED-DE (kelisa 850) was thinking of a ED-10 (kancil 850) manual of course.

guys, any recommendations/tips/reviews for Na engines?
*
Ok, here the tips

ED-DE kelisa 850, is a good upgrade option, looking for spec sheet from factory also look very promising.. yet it quite a performer even in kelisa body... try ask a few kelisarians who owns 850 model manual, most of the car are able to follow a 1.0L kelisa in top and wins 1.0L kelisa in short distance drag races... due to shorter ratio and less engine drag(no p/steering..)

but putting kelisa engine in Kancil Body is quite experimental project,
- engine frame is different, must use back kancil unit.
- if option to use kelisa ED-DE Gearbox kelisa driveshaft are a bit longer.. while kancil are shorter..kelisa inner CV joint are only for kelisa AFAIK.. ..so have to customized kelisa driveshaft+kancil driveshaft as need to match 'teeth' on knuckle side. kelisa using shaft for gearknob.. while kancil using cable.. so must find gearknob too..
- easier option, use back ori kancil gearbox..

radiator, can have ori kancil,
aircond system can have ori kancil<piping, compressor, condenser, cooling coil only, a/c wiring are from kelisa>

- wiring part. have to take from a - z from the kelisa.. kelisa is fuel injected.. kancil is not.. fuel pump need wiring not mechanical like carbie
- fuel tank... kancil is carb... either u swap to L2 tank(internal pump) or u can have external pump
- dashboard... to make things easier, plonk in L5 dash as L5 dashboard morelikely easier to do wiring.. as kelisa Meter are direct swap to L5 dash..no need to worry to mod meter.. if u already take Kelisa wiring.. so no need to worry about the meter wiring... L5 dashboard aircond blower are 3 speed.. same like kelisa.. so it easier to match the wiring.. if needed... cooler aircond though with L5 dash..

-steering rack.. if u dashboard L5.. better take together steering rod from L5.. so nicer fit with L5 dash... find non p/s unit one.. take rod+rack ..
- kelisa 850 dun have hydrolical p/steering pump.. so use back original / L5.. steering rack.. power 'lengan' ...

- airfilter.. original kelisa airfilter box are cant be fitted as engine room is getting smaller. so .. have to customized nice stainless steel pipe.. for a better looking.. redirect flow from compartment that dun have hot air.. so its like a must do including power modifying process haha...

...

if wanna convert 850 kancil engine.. better dont waste ur money here.. its 6 valve engine.. engine struggling for air.. even its fuel injected.. it wont save u petrol mileage..... if u want to have further upgrade then it good loh... put in 72mm piston in 850 block.. already turn the engine around 1L capacity.. he he he.. suggessted if wanna use kancil 850... 12v head + 72mm hi comp piston... but but but.. carbie are abit hard to set the idling and FC.. he he he.

Guys, have anyone using 3Max Performance Bars? I was planning to get one of those soon. Trying to compare UR Bars and 3max bars. Anyone can give any comment on those bars?

Thanks.

UR seems more longer in market.. so the product morelikely acceptable in motoring world... otherwise the company already bungkus carpet dy..

interior convert to l5
13' sport rim.

need suggestion from all SLK bros here smile.gif

Thanks Deto for your extensive explanation.
Sounds like alot of work to transplant the ED-DE then. rclxub.gif

Deto and LYN Kancil gang!
I have started restoring my old Kancil since Nov last year.
The last item for me to do is the engine. I want to complete this project of mine before end of this year.  icon_question.gif
So hope you guys don't mind me bugging & asking too much questions ya.

Need all your opinion on this.

What i want:
- Improve FC.
(current 12.5cents/Km, +/-)
- Easy to maintain.
(currently every month sure have something to fix..old car ma..)
- Spare parts easily available.
- Just enough power to climb Genting cukup la..heheh no need power power..kepish!
(Currently with 2 ppl can only reach Gotong Jaya, engine struggling gear 3 or 2.. sad.gif )

What i have:
- Daihatsu 660 6v na (M)
- RM3.5k to transplant. (if able to cut down cost better la haha..)

Options:
- Top overhaul.
- Overhaul.
- L5 660 4piston na (M)
- any more ideas??

Greatly appreciate all your contributions.
Thanks!
Jason
*
Advantages/Disadvantages of Overhaul:
- eventho all parts are new... but still stuck with 660cc and 2 valve perpiston.. engine still struggling
- modifying ori engine can be carryout through out the overhaul, ori part > performance part, example
... head swap.. from 6v to 12v.. but must take the carb and exhaust manifold too.. a little rewiring must be done
... clutch plate.. change to 850 has some advantages for 660 as 850 are bigger.. 850=L2 size..or can opt for exedy 3puck for L2..
... flywheel.. can send to lightened the flywheel.. give good rev all out but , skimmed too much will degrade the high end power..unless there's something helping to push the top, e.g. turbo snail..
... piston.. can use super over size, 72mm 4g13 std size piston.. this piston are flat. means compression are meant for hi comp.. ..lighter rev.. it a good idea when overhaul that we change the piston as maybe the bore is already bigger.. means the ori piston are not tight in the bore.. so use bigger piston solve the problem.. (remmbr like my fren case.. piston 1 dun have compression eventho already change piston ring.. it still happen.. and when dismantle every back.. and check out between piston 1 and its bore .. we can sleeve in a business card..here make the compression lost.. )
... electronic distributor.. forget dy the advantages but afaik, dont have to change the contact point regularly.. also a lighter rev..

Advantages/Disadvantages of L5 660 N/A
- cooler look and cooler aircond using dashboard > L5..
- 4piston=lesser vibration
- getting new experience with new engine..
- is u dont get good h/c a nightmare will haunt u down dude..
.. eventho sparepart are available. u're losing on installation fees...
... sparepart are bit expensive example.. top set of Jb-series engine are 550-650RM.. while 12v/6v top set most of expensive kena chop like rm130(daihatsu packaging)... even rm60 also can get..
.. u dont know previous history of ur halfcut.. the reason of being cutted at japan.. example.. masuk longkang... masuk sawah padi.. wiring problem or other problem.. tarak lepas japan yearly inspection ka..... the service history.. being trashed or being driven by a girl or makciks.. tips: take accident halfcut are better.. cos we know the car being cutted becos of accident.. but dont straight 'bang' front la.. maybe on right or left side..
-some chopshop use chemical to wash the engine b4 putting on the shelf. maybe having hard to see the leakage...
need to concern more on engine part if using L5..
as other.. like gearbox,radiator.. can use back L2/kancil part

Advantages/Disadvantages of L5 660 Turbo twincam 4 piston 16v
... take from above.. just add
+ a pure power upgrade!...

decision is urs...

if done overhaul.. engine shud have no problem and restore back original power.. if other have problem might not solve all the problem
if done conversion.. need to worry the sparepart and money constraint.. and maybe some other problem might occur too..

great info there from detamaso...u r really experienced dude...hope we all can share more with you..

anyway...at the end of the day L2s is still the best choice rite???better FC and got heck lot more power rather than throwing money into the stock 660cc 6V engine...but L2s halfcut price is increasing lately...not to forget about the cost of installation...lately i have been thinking about my budget for transplant..honestly its kinda tight...thought of maintain the current engine...just overhaul it n change to 12v head...replace clutch n timing belt...

JasonB :

if ur budget is 3.5k for transplant process...i think its very tight because L2 halfcut also cost u around 2.4k-2.8k(depending on condition of halfcut)...then installation n replace of tear and wear parts...if u r lucky then u can get a good halfcut...if not then you will have to fork out more money to replace tear and wear parts...but in a long run L2s its a good choice...plug n play straightaway...low maintainence...low FC provided you dont rev all the way to redline then only change gear...if u wanna transplant L2s engine...i think u need to prepare at least 4k...
*
converting during economic breakdown sure put u pain in de arse.

but during these day lah u have lots of choise choosing halfcut.. really. so recently my visit to halfcut.. like 1 halfcut got 2-3 L2s Front Cut. just either being auto and manual only. price varies... floating ranging from 2k-2.6k .. one of the best is L2s White Meter, power steering, auto halfcut .. clean engine located somewhere in pandan indah. Giant Jaya Autopart. @ RM2k.
