Guys, i got a problem.
In my a200, i previously used a 4gb cf. I changed it to a 8gb cf yesterday.
Today, when I turn on my camera, the part where it shows how many more pictures i can take until i fill up my memory, was - - - -
And it takes a few seconds to show how many i can take.
And everytime, when i on my camera, my first picture will take longer to process.

Is this normal?

i read your post on other forum. It just happen to be that they are not favouring the zeiss mainly because of its price tag, while they also felt zeiss power is on par or can be surpassed with other alternatives. Zeiss seems not appealing to them so no big deal bro, this is their preferrence, don't take it too personally. There are also happy zeiss users around...

I'm using Scandisk 8gb but i don't see that error.

Okie try this few steps.
- have you formatted the cf card ?
- try shooting in raw. does the number appear again ?

PS: I have 133x Kingston and 266x Scandisk... the price of paying for the speed can be seen.

Format, no.
Now I can see the number when I on it.
But it still takes sometime until the red light indicator is gone.

Format, no.
Now I can see the number when I on it.
But it still takes sometime until the red light indicator is gone.

recommended to use camera to format the card. <DO NOT USE PC TO FORMAT CF CARD>

Reading is bcos of the memory card speed. Don't panic... go out and play with Scandisk 266x then you know is just bcos of the speed. Nothing to worry.

i read your post on other forum.
*
Hmmm they should also see Zuiko high-end lense... biggrin.gif

Its a great lense but go see the price for yourselves.

Congratulations achew!

5za9, nice jumping moment in #2 but the effect is not suited to the picture. sad.gif

e-jump: Yes, the F58 is still RM11xx.

Zeegon: No, it is correctly exposed.

Seng_Kiat, there is a difference when shooting black-and-white in camera, shooting color and converting in Photoshop, and shooting using real black-and-white film.

amadeo, where you pointed the arrow at, is what I don't like about the Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro. But it rarely shows up and in very specific conditions only lah.

colbert89, dSLR (that's the name of the shop) in Subang Parade.

ryzan76, nice macro raindrop shot!

neo_lam, if it is from the same guy who has a Carl Zeiss 135mm F3.5 and a 35mm F2.4 I think you should know better and tune him out.

amadeo: I have no idea, but in some situations such artifacts happen because there is a light baffle at the back of the lens (a rectangular 'crop').

Another way it could appear is if there is something in front of the focus point, possibly a slice of grass very near the lens.

My Zeiss 135mm F1.8 has such a baffle, and it causes some of the OOF discs to have slight 'cuts' which are more apparent when shooting full-frame. (Look at the top part of the picture.)

cjlai I curi your picture for this example, since it's so nicely taken...

nickilala, you need to find some place with a nice background. The distance to the background will affect how it looks also.

You can get bokeh out of any lens really, but it helps if:

- the lens is focused closer
- the background is further away
- the lens is zoomed all the way in

noprob, pardon the confusion - my shot was from the Carl Zeiss 135mm F1.8. cjlai's picture is of the Minolta 135mm F2.8.

They damn stereotype. They think sony users are rich because the accessories are expensive.

i used to print my model photoshoot in 4R.... but nowadays I don't cuz it cost a lot.... usually over 100 photos per shoot biggrin.gif

if you want to share with family and friends.... just make an online photo gallery and dump all in there biggrin.gif
anytime, anywhere people can view... it is hard to find family and friends without internet connection
of course rural area may a bit problem to share your photos with... if you going over, consider a digital photo frame or better yet, a notebook... with LCD PROJECTOR thumbup.gif

my domain cost a lot (USD29.90) because it was registered before any companies in malaysia offering hosting or domain names...

pro flick shd b 30+sgd iirc....bought it some times back..haha

imo...there is a few pros n cons of both la..depend on which one u like...
hving ur own domainz..u hav to spend some times to manage it..and u hav to had a lil bit knowledge in that area otherwise u might suffer a lil bit initially...but well..its ur OWN domain...like no others =)

for flickr..its easier to manage..and its a place where photographers gather...its a channel for u get to see others work..and shares ur work with the world...but again..if u need a place to act as a showcase..own domain might sounds more 'pro' than a flickr pro..lol

i know how to design, but i'm lazy tongue.gif
just use a photo gallery generator (i used jalbum.net), dump it in, choose the skins (or find other skinss in their site), then done
upload your website, and that is all biggrin.gif

but since i use free gallery, a bit troublesome to manage, but once get hang of it, simple tongue.gif

some hosting do provide scripts to make online gallery which you can manage much better

nickilala, you need to find some place with a nice background.

Seng_Kiat, nice ant capture; it's usually very hard to get ants in focus because they run so darn fast. Another thing that would really help is to flash and use a darker aperture (F11 or darker.)

with liveview, you can also

1. use the flip lcd to raise your hand high to shoot when got obstacle or people blocking you
2. use the flip lcd to maintain eye level when shooting portraits, or kids
3. also can use for macro when the small small screen hard to see
4. easier to set white balance, can just preview on the liveview

and err... many more which I duwan to think right now tongue.gif

try reducing the internal flash exposure... maybe at -2
i've read somewhere you can use an old film and cover the internal flash...

achew, there are many ways to reduce the effect of the on-body flash signal.

1) use a shutter speed that is faster than the flash sync speed of your body, thus triggering HSS (1/200s would be sure for the A200/A300/A350)
2) use a piece of overexposed, developed film negative over your pop-up flash
3) use a darker aperture e.g. F11
4) use a lower ISO e.g. ISO100

The moment you enter HSS mode, the signal is totally not captured by the camera. Of course, the downside is the fast shutter speed, which will reduce ambient light... but you can do 1/200s F1.4 ISO1600 to bring up the ambient light.

On the other hand, you can make daylight appear to be night, using 1/800s F11 ISO100...

If you can find a strip of exposed negative (usually the black end of a film) you won't need to do any of the steps above.

tanjq87: The crossed XX version is the first version to come out, which is supposedly sharper. ExxonMobil sued Minolta for using the crossed XX so newer versions came with the XX separated.

Crossed XX is rarer and commands a collector value.

The crossed XX version of the 50mm F1.7 is prone to sticky aperture blades; don't know about other lenses though.

yo boss..thanks for the tips ya.....seems like its slightly more troublesome than i thought..haha....previously i thought this could b easily done with some setting on the camera/flash..lol..btw..does other brand's flash also need to do the same thing???

i think no1 is probably more suitable for me..lol..since i wanna try to shoot at dark enviroment..and jsut wanted my flash to send light from a certain direction =)

ooic... then how about beercan without the maxxum word? I just bought a beercan without the maxxum word today.
i compared side by side kitlens at 70mm f5.6, beercan at 70mm f4 and 16105 at 70mm f5.6, the order of sharpness is 16105>kitlens>beercan, is it normal for beercan less sharp than kitlens? but by very little, almost cannot differentiate those type, but the 16105 is much sharper than the other two.

achew, all Canons require that you have a 580EX I/II or a ST-E2 transmitter on the camera, to trigger an off-camera flash.

I'm not sure about Nikon and how easy it is to remove the popup flash from showing, but the D40/D40x/D50/D60 do not have wireless commander capability.

tanjq87, the beercan should be pretty sharp. I've felt it to be sharper than the kit lens but never did any formal tests. If your 16-105mm is indeed sharper, then it might hint that it is, indeed, based on the Zeiss 16-80mm design...

Talking about ular,I shall share my nightmare/excited experience on the day of buying ular tongue.gif

Ok,on the day of 9th February 2009,my friends and I were going lowyat to repair computer & buying a new laptop backpack. While waiting for the technician to check for the desktop problem, one of my friends accompanied me to buy the ular at FotoEdar(Surveyed around, cheapest I could get it there,RM1100).After buying,my friend and I went back to the technician shop, the desktop had not done yet,so we went for our lunch.

After lunch, one of my friends wanted to buy a laptop backpack,so we followed him(definitely I was holding the plastic bag of ular). While my friend was busy looking for backpack at Cycom,SUDDENLY,my stomach pain!!! sweat.gif

Without waiting,I rushed to the lowyat toilet at 10km/hr and gave RM0.50 permited to bomb their toilet.

After bombing,I felt so released rclxm9.gif like normal,I washed my hands and walked out from the toilet, walked around had a look at current computers price. I walked at pasar malam walking pace back to Cycom...and...

I felt my hand was not holding the ULAR!!! rclxub.gif

I rushed back to the toilet with 100km/hr...and...catched back the ular flex.gif

Phew...my friends also sweat when I told them sweat.gif

i compared side by side kitlens at 70mm f5.6, beercan at 70mm f4 and 16105 at 70mm f5.6, the order of sharpness is 16105>kitlens>beercan, is it normal for beercan less sharp than kitlens? but by very little, almost cannot differentiate those type, but the 16105 is much sharper than the other two.

Correction ... "D" lens is a lense has an distance encoder function for ADI to work with.

The "DT" lens is the Digital Technology is the 1 that optimize for digital camera (aps-c)

ehh, the F42 seem less power, follow by f58 lose to f56 hmm.gif

actually, the background (mosaic) become totally white is a good thing or bad thing in this test (f42 vs f56 vs f58) ?

my point is, (i guess this test performed at bright place) the f56 too power until the mosaic become purely white... if used this f56 at night, then it could be deliver the performance right compare to f58?

CPL can cut reflections up to certain percentage, doesn't matter if it's day or night.
But since day shoot with direct sun will gives you reflection of the lights, so I recommend a CPL filter.
I got it from here : http://www.lelong.com.my/merchant/default....ist&T=&C1=37623

I'm using sanyo eneloop as well. I think Powerex 2700 will last longer. But eneloop/imedion got an advantage where it's charge will stay.

Normal batt, after you charge if not use for a long time the battery will go empty yand need to recharge again. Not every good at explaining this hope u get the idea.

I am not sure what I like honestly. but based on my flickr, I know, I like to shoot macro and landscape more than other.

den u hav to make up ur choice...lol..90sp is definately nt for landscape....and tammy..i think the focal length stil nt long enuff even u add a raynox infront..unless u mainly shooting water/flower..those bugs..i think 50mm nt really enough..for this maybe u need to confirm with the macro pros..lol

Added on March 9, 2009, 10:34 pmtry tarita loyat...can bargain sum more. mention albert name hahaha...i bot at 1130. any body use F58 and a300?? izit fit ngam2? mine macam longgar ait. when i bought the cobra i din bring my a300.
*
Eneloop/Imedion is good because it won't leak but cons is the mah is low. Is good if you have both eneloop and normal 2700mah battery. If you got day long shoot tomorrow, you prepare your high capacity batts. When you suddenly need to shoot something, your eneloop is always there fully charged.

The longgar thingy is common. For a fix you can take a look at below method, quote from bro albnok at alphanatics

If the wobble still bothers you, you could apply some white tape to the insides of the hotshoe so it will look like this hotshoe. That should tighten it up a lot. You must clean the oxidization regardless - if not, it will just be a tight, undetected flash.

Happy flashing!

Do you guys cares about the F58 red plastic part got scratched? Thinking someway to prevent it from being scratch, I like to keep my stuff as new as possible. Apply screen protector on it lolx.

You'll want to burst at 5 FPS at least and merge them in Photoshop.

You ordered from?
If its from a camera shop, try not to buy the accessories there.
The price tend to be very pricey

Sony centre. Means you only can get sony bags there.
Try to test the bag first. See if it fits you or not.
Clone ones...i suggest not.

Welcome to the club tongue.gif
When buying the bag, bring your SLR as well.
Put it in your bag and see if it fits well or not.
Lowepro flipside and fastpack series has a unique concept.

mushpop, no you don't need to lower EV; that's for a multiple exposure which Sony Alphas cannot do.

Just shoot normally with Drive mode set to Burst. If you can, use a tripod, so you don't have to align the pictures later.

Those branded ones like lowepro, crumpler, thinktank are quite pricey.
But you get what you pay for.
Price depends on the range.
go to www.shashinki.com to see those bags

im using crumpler 5million dollar home...actually that series..design are exactly the same..the only diff is price..about 10~20sgd more exp from size to size...

for me..its a good bag..serves me well..infact this is my 6th crumpler bags..i hav their normal bags..laptop bags..and now slr bag.....and the branding itself sounds 'younger' to me =p...and quality wise is the last thing u need to worry....i hav a friend who carries his crumpler to work eevryday..and the way he carries the bag makes the bag rubs against his jeans all the time...and guess wad..after 1yr++..he found a small hole on the levis...and the bag?not even a scratch =)

And its fat as hell. Always worried that the bag will hit against something.
I cant decide to get a backpack type or a slingbag type with a good strap with non slip.

actually we r suppose to carry it slanted across the shoulder if i nt wrong....initially i hav prob with those sling bags too..but after awhile..u'll get the hang on it.. tongue.gif

and jsut for some rough idea how big is 5million dollar home...i usually put my a300 mounted with a lens in 1 partition..and put 2 other lens or 1lens + 1 flash in another partition...if u need to squeeze more stuffz..den u probably need a bigger one

My friend was driving, and his A700 was in the Crumpler 7 Million, on the front seat. He suddenly braked hard because a car swerved in front of him.

The bag rolled forward onto the floor. The A700's screen was facing upwards.

Later that night he discovered that it had cracked. The Crumpler bag was padded everywhere except the top!

Moral of the story:

1) fasten the seatbelts even for your camera bag
2) don't put the screen upwards in a 7 Million
3) put some padding, perhaps a shirt, in the top flap

QUOTE(albnok @ Mar 10 2009, 03:45 PM)
My friend was driving, and his A700 was in the Crumpler 7 Million, on the front seat. He suddenly braked hard because a car swerved in front of him.

The bag rolled forward onto the floor. The A700's screen was facing upwards.

Later that night he discovered that it had cracked. The Crumpler bag was padded everywhere except the top!

Moral of the story:

1) fasten the seatbelts even for your camera bag
2) don't put the screen upwards in a 7 Million
3) put some padding, perhaps a shirt, in the top flap
*
yup ... but you can change the padding inside the crumpler to protect it.

that what i did.

Usually i'll put the cam bag on the car floor
1) to hide it a bit
2) prevent it fr fall

Hi everyone, I have an a300 for some time now, but never really had the time to use it secara mendalam.

Anyway, I would like to ask, where are shops selling a good range of alpha mount lens in KL, PJ side?

In particular looking for Sigma 30mm f1.4 or any similar lens. Anyone know where to find this?

I have the sony 50mm f1.4 but found it a little too narrow. Have to stand too far away from subject.

GrimmReaper, very good choice! In KL, there's Boeing Sg. Wang who stocks Sony and Sigma for Sony mount, while Leos Trading Ampang Park and YL Camera Pudu Plaza stock Tamron for Sony mount.

No shop I know so far has stock of the Sigma 30mm F1.4 but it can be ordered and it will come rather quickly.

Do let us know if yghsin has it, I had no idea!

minolta 50mm f1.4 very resonable for RM750...

but may consider used sony 50mm f1.4 local set, probably can get it for Rm850-900...
its come with hood + newer coating + common 55mm filter size...
