Haha, tbh, the emoticon freaked me out a lil.

If it's a real thing, mind sharing more info on the event? your own or ... organized by some group?
Maybe others might be interested as well.

Location, fees (if any), transport, time and other necessary stuff..

Any age limit ? more concern on upper limit.. haha

Looks interesting.
Though, I am a complete newbie in hiking.
Do you think it's advisable for fresh bloods to join this event? Last thing I want is to drag the group down (and get blacklisted for any other events.. haha)

my last week revisit to nuang summit..
Still find Nuang blardy difficult.. Time rushed from one of my friend trying to achieve certain timing..

Today all my body is aching..

I'll do a newbies friend Nuang hike (most likely only until Camp Pacat), I will lead and my friend will sweep.. If you are fast enough we can do until Pengasih or even Peak (5 hours max, start at 7am sharp).

Date would be 7/6 (Agong birthday) tentatively.. let me know if anyone is keen.

What to expect, generally fit, It would be a 4 ~ 5 hours hike even just attempting to Camp Pacat alone... Friendly..

You sure you comfortable with unknown terrain my friend? Look at my profile and tell me how many of the mountains you been before.

I am not discouraging you in any way, just want to ensure you have the basic knowledge of surviving in the woods in case got lost.

If it is your first time in trekking you should not head to the GAP and Ulu Semangkuk.

It is an eassy peasy mountain but I afraid your stamina will bring you down. Approximate 4 hours + into the hike with a M shape type of terrain.

Just do this in order.

1. Broga Hill - Semenyih (not include Tok Wan trek)
2. Panorama Hill - Sungai Lembing
3. Ketumbar Hill - Cheras
4. Saga Hill - Cheras (route A ignoring waterfall trek)
5. Tabur Hill - Ampang

Then you tell me whether you could proceed from there or not.

Telling from my own experience.

Yo bro. Started your new job and hardly see you online here.

What do you expect from rushing here and there? Not like you are participating in the ironman challenge biggrin.gif

I see whether I could join or not. Be the sweeper instead biggrin.gif

hi. it's not recommended for a newbie to join this hike, else you won't be enjoying. there is no nice view at the peak. better is to do datuk prior to this.

let me explain a little about the terrain. from starting point to gunung gap peak, you have to go through steep and slippery bamboo trail. i think this is the tough part with fallen bamboo leaves and not much tree for you to hold to. same tough effort required while coming down coz it's too slippery. it's better to have a hiking pole with you. from gap to ulu semangkok, the trail is nice with ups and downs. and lastly you have to cross the gap from gap to ulu semangkok.

hiking is a journey itself. you can progress slowly, don't have to rush. the mountain is always there.

+1 on the description of the trail but -1 on the view.

The bamboo session slippery session only happened for the first 10 minutes of the hike. Another 10 still passing through the bamboo before the trail is wide and clear and assume another 25 to reach GAP. You can also add on that there is a fork junction when exiting the bamboo trail and take note not to exit that fork which is located on your left smile.gif.

Did you try camp at Ulu Semangkuk peak to see the view? I guess most did daypack because there is no water source here. Little to know that the trail beyong the Ulu Semangkuk peak (head straight) will eventually lead you to smaller peaks.

Even if day pack, you should still see the hotels located in Fraser's Hill from the peak's entrance - right turn where left being the peak which is mark with a beirut.

If you really want to learn to hike, do let me know and I will try to arrange my time to lead you. Will only be free after May since I am busy with certain issues at work.

Genting got few trails. Of course Bunga Buah is the well known route from mid way to Genting Highlands before the Gohtong Jaya township. Two routes as I know - one from the vegetable garden (which I never tried before) and the other required police permit permission as trespassing a stone quarry. The other was the less known Genting Bidai and the nearby hills.

Add on: If you want to include Janda Baik as part of Genting, you can hike Nuang via Janda Baik by using the route to Chemperoh waterfall.

When was your last time you went to Ulu Semangkuk trail? The right path was clear during my visit back at 2011. Unstable terrain as most of the ground are roots like Gunung Irau. Will not recommend a lot of people to stand at the view point for photography. Let me try to find back my old pictures and see whether I got snap them and will share it here.

Hi all,

planning a weekend camping for my family (2 adults, 2 kids). Been going through this thread, need further advice

Below are some of my requirements

1) Near waterfall area
2) within 1.5h drive from PJ
3) Relatively safe
4) Able to setup your own tent
5) can set your own fire to bbq
6) can fishing is a bonus
7) no long hiking needed

looking at past post, i shortlist the below place that meet most of the requirements

1) Ulu Pangsoon
2) sungai congkak
3) Chilling Waterfall

which of the 3 is your 1st priority if you have a choice?

any other good recommendation?
