Fellow sifus, need your opinion on this.

Is it advisable to climb with all the haze happening at the moment?

I don't think so. sad.gif
That's why I skip for today.

Is tabur open for public now?

Tabur West - NO. Permit need to apply at Forestry Department at Cheras.
Tabur East - YES. Do not see anyone guarding there the last time I been there.
Tabur Extreme - YES. Not sure anyone even know of this existing route smile.gif

Depends on which location to be honest. Other place besides KL and Selangor should be fine.

Been to Panorama Hill recently. Clear sky and fresh air.

Hye....im miss many thing from all...i want to start to hiking...rock climbing...camping ..and others outdoor actvty...but how to find friend???any suggestion??

You can follow the earlier group where @gs20 propose but I hike once with them. All just want to be fame seekers and hike fast and abandon the slow behind especially for those tough trail.

Start with hiking first before moving to camping as camping required you to carry a minimal of 7kg - 15kg bagpack to the campsite of that mountain.

If you are keen to rock climbing, you could try the indoor type in 1 Utama or if the outdoor type - I could introduce to you to another group in Facebook which they do annual climb near Batu Caves.

Again, friendship are built from the activities itself. I started without any friends and now, plenty of them smile.gif

Need any help, feel free to ask me.

Sad to see another two young hikers died at Gunung Bubu, Ulu Kenas.

http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2014...ad-gunung-Bubu/

I just hope it is not Leptospirosis again although this mountain seldom people hike.

Oh, exactly what I'm experiencing during my first & only hike with them, so far. biggrin.gif
I thought I'm the odd one that didn't manage to blend in but seem like I'm not alone.
I'd say they're experience/pro. I can't catch up with their pace & was left behind.

I got mine from one of the LYN member.
Do take note the size though. Usually you'll have to go for few sizes smaller.
The seller will offer to bring a couple of pair for you to try.

Looks like this seems to be the best way to get those shoes.

Sometimes not every shop recognize Kampung Adidas term. Some refer them as Kasut Getah.

I know one place that sell them but it is located in PJ. Near PJ Old Town (not referring to the Old Town White Coffee Shop).

Somewhere near the bus station, opposite of Maybank.
*
I'm not familiar with PJ old town, probably around Assunta Hospital & that's it only >.<

Probably can attempt to organize a newbie trip lol.
I'm pretty sure there are veterans who don't mind slowing down & guide freshies.

hmm.gif But there is nothing to guide, like telling you which step to take, etc. You, just walk the path, sound like simple right?
Let's here what aidono got to share for newbies. He is definitely more experience in this.
I learnt my lesson. So, nowadays I mostly hike alone as I get to adjust my own pace. I tired, I rest, without worry to being left behind.

I believe there a few veteran who do not mind being the sweeper in that group.

True indeed that there are no guidance on how you hike the mountain. Hiking on soil terrain is way much easier compare to river crossing or rock climbing.

There are certain way to cross a rapid river and for rock climbing normally we need to have the 3 point safety before making the next step.

I not sure where to hike these days. Maybe I will just to Broga Hill this weekend and pack some rubbish from the summit back to the base.

It is good to adjust your own pace so you could catch your breath and stamina but do ensure not to rest too long especially for those long jungle trek.

Afraid you might get seperated from the front and might end up lost in the jungle.

My last trip was somewhere slightly beyond Tesco Rawang. I think it's somewhat linked to Templers Park, can't remember whether have to pay entrance fee or not but I know there's a proper parking spot & there's a waterfall too (which got nicer as you hike up further).

Actually if you ask me what you should learn from trekking is where did you trek. As there could be trek formed by rain water which flow down from the hill top and there are animal paths. Basically most will just blindly follow the person in the front without realizing or remembering the trail.

I think you are referring to either Templers Fall, Kanching Fall or even Komanwel Fall. Further down could be Serendah Fall if you are referring to waterfalls.

Lol blind lead the blind.

I think it's kanching as the name ring some bell. Feel like going there again to hike a little & picnic at the waterfall. I'm more of a sight seeing kinda hiker rather than a adrenaline rush hiker heh.

There are reasons why the veteran always rush. They believe they saw everything before on the trail and plus or minus the plants and insects are basically the same for them. Without wasting any time to see such nature thingy, they prefer to rush. Some just to show off their speed, but yet do not know how to lead or sweep. Some been to that place quite a number of times could be another factor as well.

Best advice - follow your own pace, enjoy the view but make sure you stay close with the group. Make sure you remember who were in your front and back. Thou you might not remember their name but try recognizing them by their faces.

Which are you referring? Hills? Mountains? Waterfalls?

Sweeper need to be experience as well. Not only knowing the routes well but give encouragement for the slow pacer encouragement. Sweeper need to have a good stamina as you will start and stop frequently which could make yourself tired. So, are you into that task?

Haha, tbh, the emoticon freaked me out a lil.

If it's a real thing, mind sharing more info on the event? your own or ... organized by some group?
Maybe others might be interested as well.

Location, fees (if any), transport, time and other necessary stuff..

Any age limit ? more concern on upper limit.. haha
