Hi! Anyone here who seeks adventure by doing caving/white water rafting/night jungle tracking?

I had too much of the busy life in KL.. Planning to go for a trip off from the city, to get closer to mother nature..

Does anyone have any idea where can i find tour package like this for 3Days/2Nights?

I thought just better for non professional climber group to share light information on hiking trails or jungle trekking. I find climber groups are very professionals and talk of altitude and oxygen about their mountain trail. This is not but just a medium hike Bukit not gunung. If more hikers agree to open this new thread than we proceed or else let it sink at the bottom of the page. Tq

I have been joining groups from KL Hiking and Meeting since September last year. So far, have been to Saga Hill, Angsi, Datuk, Kutu, Nuang, Ulu Semangkok, Rajah, Broga and Tok Wan and for waterfalls to Lata Medang and Chilling. They are not hardcores and they also have simple hikes to Gasing Hill and Saga hills. There are also Gunung Tahan and Ulu Sepat trips. Join them and you will find a new group of friends and at all levels.

that's great ettige. i will find out bout the group . i had search for info about hiking group in lowyat and google search but very few talk about hiking activity. when we talk about hiking, the term means hiking the bukit right ? my objective is not to climb hill or go water rafting , canoe etc. it's not my ambition on camping trip as well because im too afraid of any encounter with wild animals like wild boar or tiger . so im not that adventurous person anymore unlike the younger generation. i just want to hike and sweat as a form of exercise. my first hike in selangor is bukit puchong yesterday and i find it good enough to make my shirts sweat. i will try again to go deeper because someone already mentioned about fine and tresspassing. i think i haven't reach that zone yet yesterday.

for light hiking activities the backpack used are small..about 30L or below..other than that things we carried may be ground sheet, flysheet, stove, hammock, light food etc icon_rolleyes.gif

yes..training is a must if u want to join a longer trip or more than 3days trip...
imo there is no we called elite group in hiking
for beginners the best tips are
1.make sure your pace are not too slow
2.busy your self helping others at camp site
3.manage your backpack as light as possible
4.completing your equipment (sleeping bag,dry sack,carry mat,clothes etc)

Yes, there's a camping spot in Medang but it's not big. It can fit maybe a group of 10 and off course you can improvise if the group is larger.

In KL HIking, the group will naturally break into groups. The faster ones will hike at the front and moderate ones hikes averagely and the slower ones like myself (lol) will always be at the back. You have to hike at your comfort pace and trying to force yourself to catch up with the others will tire you out. Finally you can't hike anymore. Find a group which takes care of every hiker. There's always a sweeper at the back who knows the trail so nobody gets lost. Problem with many newbies is they try to keep the pace with experienced hikers and in the process did not enjoy the hike and gave up! icon_rolleyes.gif

Hey, lets form a group of newbies to go on a day hike around kl/pj trails. Just light trekking for a start then maybe we pick up from there. Im not that fit togo for moderate or hardcore trails yet. Like you ive been looking around forums and groups but most of them are pretty hardcore. Im free most sundays. Would be nice to have a companion to tag along.

Start with something easy
EG: kiara trails, Gasing, Broga, Saga, FRIM

Do start with a day hike, u just need to bring water and a phone (emergency contact, possible with gps connection). Get someone who know the trail, start your trail

These are good for training.. Those trail mentioned above are sort of recommended training ground regardless of your fitness trail.

Then maybe you can proceed to Nuang or other mountains..

I am not a person in favour of camping either.. But more of a person who like day hike/trail run.. Running in the jungle is so exciting because a small mistake can cause a big injuries..

hey guys, I'm planning a trip to Sabah to enjoy nature a little after busy city life. The thing is, the package the tour guides are offering is a little pricey (RM950 for 5D 4N) and it doesn't include much stuffs in it. So I've decided to put on my own research and see if I can organize the things to do in Sabah for 5 days. My friends and I decided we would spend 2 days in Taman Kinabalu and do a few stuffs.

What I wanna ask is about the jungle trekking there. I've been googling about jungle trekking but I wasn't sure if it is really jungle trekking or Mt Kinabalu. So I'm asking the experts here for informations like : Is there any website that provide tour package for the jungle trekking only (because we would want to gain some knowledge about the stuffs there, not just walk) , price, and stuffs like that.

Please do PM me because I don't really think I have too much time on lyn nowadays.

THANKS A LOT ! smile.gif

Ha,ha,ha. That's the perception of most people. You won't find wild boars in FRIM or Gasing Hills and chances of meeting tigers is almost nil. The only news of wild boars I have heard is in Liang East West and even that, the boars will move away when they sense the presence of humans. They are even more scary meeting us than the other way. Snakes also can sense vibrations and the moment when a herd of humans are tramping nearby they slithered away. Getting the knife for emergencies is a good idea but not for protection against wild animals. laugh.gif
