If you can see 3G icon on your phone, shouldn't be a problem for you to access right? smile.gif

Ahhhh.. yeah, i was having a though of just subscribing and taking the risk, but then, i guess, i can just wait a bit longer.
Digi broadbanderrr, i dont know, first, my sim card is still the 64k sim. i checked using "searching the network manually" on nokia hp. That was how i managed to see 3G digi. 2nd, the coverage map is still showing that my house isnt under the digi broadband coverage though some parts of Tmn Maluri are (these parts of maluri are only recently covered - only on the last 3 weeks they showed up). I am not sure if digi will allow, and even so, i might still get only edge speed. I am currently on edge unlimited.

talrasha,

i dont play online games on pc but it's on ps3. even with streamyx i cant get good games during peak hour.

Ahhh, i see, but i do know, couple of forumers using maxis mobile internet (unlimited with no FUP at hsdpa best effort speed, which is entirely different than maxis wireles mobile broadband) playing with their ps3. My hunch is, digi at average speed of 700kbps, probably will do just fine. Once again, just my hunch. hihi.

I am waiting for digi broadband or digi mobile 3g ( though i love the mobile 3g, since that would make my hp running at its fullest features like email, maps n stuffs). Right now, using celcom prepaid 3g and digi postpaid w edge unlimited)

still waiting for Digi broadband to reach my place in Tmn maluri.  Darn it, short of 100-300meters to my house.  Other parts of taman maluri is covered though.. urggghh.. but checking on my phone, there is a 3g digi.. all i can do is wait now.

anyway preducer,

i think digi broandband will run fine on online games, though i dont know what kind of games though.  I play Left 4 Dead(FPS) and occasionally TF2 on celcom 3g (384kbps with 200+ms), runs fine too except with few minor hiccups here and there especially on saturday night.  So, i think (just an opinion not fact..huhu), digi broadband probably would do just fine.

I believe Digi broadband is heavily expanded its coverage. I've been to a lot of places where its coverage map did not list it but I still able to get WCDMA/HSDPA at full bar! thumbup.gif Also I was at another location where it is 2-3 blocks away from the border of coverage and I can still get at least 3 bars of reception. Downloading also no problem.

Actually I don't quite believe the coverage map. I believe they underestimate it to allow tolerance in case broadcasting conditions did not favor ideal performance expectations and cause the actual coverage to shrink.

Coverage maps won't be quite up to date at times
But to those who are selling it like those DiGi dealers and etc, they rely heavily on it, so once checked and its out of coverage even though in that area, you might get 3 bars of WCDMA, its the customer's risk whether to sign it or not.

True also. But Digi has so far exceeded my expectations. WCDMA/HSDPA is available at 90% of the places I travel to (10% being my office, no line and back to Edge). Most important is that my home (particularly my room) has full bar and good reception quality.

Well of course, minus the frequent disconnects. After thing has settled down, everything seems to fall in place and I get good download speeds.

Oh! you did that? So, do you get that 700kbps speed eventhough you are out of coverage but see the digi (3G) signal? If it is still a full of 384kbps, i can still live with that. Hoho, maybe it is time for me to depart with my so-long-slow-but-loveable edge limited. Whoaho!!

The map is just for a reference purpose and it isn't updated every single day in my opinion. I've tested at areas which isn't covered based on the map and I'm still able to get 3mbps.

Yeah, a very humble reference. I was at a location which is 2-3 blocks away from the coverage (much further than the chart provided here) and I can still get full speed! thumbup.gif

Now, sounds very tempting. I guess, i ll give Digi a visit this weekend. Anyway, is the modem provided(if we buy) a lock-free? meaning can be used with other telco simcards. Or buying your own (where as but at lowyat..hehe) would be better?

DiGi modem's is not locked.

Anyway, if you can manually locate DiGi 3G signal thru network searching, then your area should be covered.
But you wouldn't know how many DiGi 3G signal bars is there till you officially sign up.
The worst case possibility is you might get on/off 1 bar of WCDMA network. .. tongue.gif

dude, no contract la for the BB lines.
You're paying the installment of the modems for 12 months only.

If you terminate the line, just pay the full amount of the modem and you could happily go off to Celcom or Maxis. doh.gif

Well I think it is a rip off since if the subscription was done during any promotion period like the launch in One Utama where the modem is only RM25 x 12 months which is RM300 for the full payment, if any downgrade/termination is done then the full payment is RM600. The staffs during the One Utama launch said that if there's any downgrade/termination then the payment required is only RM300. I'm actually quite frustrated with this and this has drop the reputation of DiGi's broadband team (well at least from my point of view).

Hmm, speaking of worst case scenario, if i just get 1 bar of wcdma, can i still surf at 3g speed and "off 1 bar of wcdma" meaning it will resort to edge speed?

Heard from fren that now Digi is capping the speed of the download of 7.2mbps to max speed of 2mbps. Can anyone verify this?

wew....

sounds good.....i want to switch to DiGi...
Celcom so saks....lately, i've got this msg frm Celcom,

"A friendly reminder, your data usage is reaching the allocated 5GB/ mth (Celcom Broadband Policy). Pls reduce your usage to avoid having your speeds managed."

and this,

"Dear Sir/Ms, you have exceeded the 5GB/ mth usage as per Celcom Broadband policy. We reserve the right to control yr broadband speed when deemed necessary. Thk U."

both of them were frm 25222.

i dont know, what they mean with the Unlimited Acces... now they reduce my speed...wtf!~ FYI, i used the up to 3.6Mbps pckge.

sm1, i've got aLready blacklist with Celcom, can i switch to DiGi with my blacklist status?

The likelihood of the modem dropping to EDGE speeds will be higher. Also at such receptions (nevermind how many bars available, we should talk about signal strength, DSSI), the speeds will be unstable too and a lot of 're-transmission' will happen. As a result, your download speeds will be affected and also experiencing loss packets. So the modem will most likely switch back to the nearest cell tower which is most likely an EDGE-only connection (since the 3G transmitting tower is far away).

Weather conditions will also affect coverage at these bordeline areas. Coverage can wider at ideal conditions and coverage can be worse during bad conditions.
