My experience, philippines grass must be planted at area with good source of sunlight, at least 6-7 hours (correct me if i'm wrong). if not the grass will grow thinner (long). same goes to japanese grass.

Cow grass much easier, but the most easier is fake grass for shaded area.

Added on October 14, 2010, 10:59 pmFake grass; i saw one at sg buloh shop lot 54 if i'm not mistake.

Cow grass is the best. Less headache when come to maintenance. My cow grass is doing very well without fertilizer and only watering once a day. And the best of all, is cheap.

I was advised (to save cost), don't buy grasses to cover exactly the size to be turfed. This means for 200 sqr feet of land, no need buy 100 pieces of 2 sqr feet grass patch. Just buy maybe a quarter of that quantity and place/grow them with some spacing from each other. Sooner or later they will creep to cover the empty spot. How true is this?

Yes, it is true. I myself just buy 5pcs and chop it to small pcs 10cm by 10cm to cover about 10m2. Spread it equally. Than cover it with fine sand for it to grow. (those white river sand)

It take about 6-9mth to grow. Depend how much you cover per sq. 1 carpet of grass about 15cm by30cm cost RM7.

I was qouted rm1.80 per 2 sqrfeet for taiwan grass in sg buloh. Is there a formula to find out the growth time to cover the whole lawn based on the lawn size and total grass patch sizes?

For my case, I wish to grass up 200sqr feet of lawn. Let's say I buy 100sqrfeet of grass patches, cut 'em up and plant em with equal distance from each other. How many weeks will it take to fully grass-ify my lawn?

I m not sure what type of grass I m having now. First time I brought wrong as it abit thick the grass. Than I go back to brought again. This time I get the more fine type which is abit expensive. Brought from sg. buloh too.

I don't have the fomula. Just get the instruction from my friend how to plant. You want grow fast, plant it more smaller spacing. But will cause you more grass and money. My case take 8-9mth to fully grow. To save money, got to passion.

One more thing to make it grow faster and greener is to put the fertilizer every 2week. It somekind like a white seed in packard. Can get it from sg.buloh.

i would say it will take months. not weeks. but it all down to how you take care of the grass. covering is one thing, maintaining is another. you have to continuously water, fertilize and trim the grass to ensure they grow equally. if not, there will be discoloration and others. not beautiful to the eye.

u can buy the grass patches to fit the exact size of your lawn, but u have to trim it so that it will not grow on top of the other patches. mine stop growing on top of others after a few weeks. having borcsh electric grass cutter helps thumbup.gif

One thing forget to inform is, you much work hard to plug out those rubbish grass or unwanted grass that grow together.

If not, the unwanted/ rubbish grass will overcome your grass. Or eat up your grass.

Hmm.. in dilema know. I'm in the middle of renovating my house interiors. From the look of it, I should initiate grass planting now so that it will be in "full bloom" in months.

But I'm scared I have no time to water them everyday due to work, and also the reno workers definitely gonna step on them.

is SB like the only place to get reasonable priced grass? any shops in particular to recommend? now that my hse reno is almost done, think i shud focus on the garden. but if i start planting the grass sparingly & it takes mths to grow, looks like i cant make it in time for the new year.

in tat case, perhaps i shall live with the common grass for now (& try to do somethin bout the botak patch since my contractor workers have been stepping & washin in that spot). any idea how to make the common grass grows fast?
