I was advised (to save cost), don't buy grasses to cover exactly the size to be turfed. This means for 200 sqr feet of land, no need buy 100 pieces of 2 sqr feet grass patch. Just buy maybe a quarter of that quantity and place/grow them with some spacing from each other. Sooner or later they will creep to cover the empty spot. How true is this?

QUOTE(ozak @ Oct 20 2010, 07:33 PM) Yes, it is true. I myself just buy 5pcs and chop it to small pcs 10cm by 10cm to cover about 10m2. Spread it equally. Than cover it with fine sand for it to grow. (those white river sand) It take about 6-9mth to grow. Depend how much you cover per sq. 1 carpet of grass about 15cm by30cm cost RM7. I was qouted rm1.80 per 2 sqrfeet for taiwan grass in sg buloh. Is there a formula to find out the growth time to cover the whole lawn based on the lawn size and total grass patch sizes? For my case, I wish to grass up 200sqr feet of lawn. Let's say I buy 100sqrfeet of grass patches, cut 'em up and plant em with equal distance from each other. How many weeks will it take to fully grass-ify my lawn?

Hmm.. in dilema know. I'm in the middle of renovating my house interiors. From the look of it, I should initiate grass planting now so that it will be in "full bloom" in months.
But I'm scared I have no time to water them everyday due to work, and also the reno workers definitely gonna step on them.

QUOTE(ozak @ Nov 3 2010, 12:47 PM) Even small garden, sometime I m lazy to maintain. But I never think of cement it at all. The house will be hot with the heat reflect. It is very nice and beautiful to have a grass garden. Specially morning when you look out and see your garden so green. While sipping your hot coffee. And I want to have some oxygen too breath too. You just pull my words right out of my brain. Well my "1st phase" plan would be turfing my porch with grass , and putting in some hexagonal blocks as paths right to my doorstep. Well uhmm nearly half my porch are cemented. If I have more budget, I would wish to apply wooden flooring to cover it and buy some nice wooden table and chairs and put outside, so I can hang out and sipping my cool coffee. Would really want to dig a small pond too, but I'm waiting for my thumb to turn green. This post has been edited by alanyuppie: Nov 3 2010, 03:50 PM
