Samsung i8910 is the new addition to the long line of Samsung phones that leaked these last two weeks. This time we're talking something big though - both in size and in features. The i8910 will be the first phone to record HD video. It's also packs a huge touchscreen and runs on the Symbian S60 OS 5th edition (think Nokia N97).

Samsung i8910 seems to be one of the juiciest phones to be announced at this MWC. Its most conspicuous feature is the huge touchscreen, which looks similar to the 3.8-incher on HTC Touch HD.

As far as rumors go Samsung i8910 sports an 8 megapixel camera with HD video recording (1280 x 720 pixels), GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity, HDMI output and a 3.5mm audio jack plus DivX and DNLA certification. Considering the front barely noticeable camera, we might be sure of the 3G support.

The Samsung i8910 will come in 8GB and 16GB versions much like the Samsung Omnia it comes to upgrade.

Currently there's no info about the OS, but some sources quote it as the latest Symbian S60 5th edition, used in Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia N97.

If really Symbian 5th Edition then really is a good phone... Large LCD and 8MP and one things Nokia dont have HD Video recording... lol... This is serious man...

this one also use capacitive touch screen.

the only draw back is the LED flash, only single LED is used as flash.
it will be perfect if it uses xenon flash...

i look on another review site saying that recording on HD will only last 30++mins before the battery dies...
also, what about the hardware specs, as in the cpu, ram and stuff..camera is the main focus on this one, but this is another important factor also...

any PDA phone with good camera and good xenon flash?

Smartphones that have xenon flash are the Nokia N82, Samsung G810 and Samsung G800 (I think).
But if you're asking about WM PDA phones, I'm not too sure about that but as far as I know, there is none.

omg...it runs o OMAP3?? darn..my n82 with omap 2 edi powerful enough to play all those fancy games edi..
but the draw back is that OMAP chipset draws more power, even though this phone uses 1500mAh battery, i think the battery life will still not be really impressive...

anyway, i still think this phone lack of hardware key..gaming cannot be nice when there is no multi touch...

Actually, I prefer to have it with LED flash instead of a xenon flash.
The LED flash can be used in the HD recording while Xenon flash can't. It's true that many Xenon flash phones tag an LED flash along. But if I'm not mistaken, the LED flash is used in the auto-focus, gainning an accurate focus on the subject. IMO, this LED flash will be too weak to be used in video recording.

Of course it would be best if the phone comes along with a xenon flash and also a powerful LED flash.

but LED nowadays have decent brightness also..plus, LED can be use as torch light as well in the dark

it's just depending on which OS u are more familiar with and if you are willing to learn to adapt another new OS..

Currently, been comparing this unit with Lg Viewty smart. Both are having 8MP camera. Viewty smart's user interface is quite attractive with its S-Class 3D and the transparent keyboard which can also act as mouse.
But i8910 is and open system running on Symbian. This is definitely a plus against Lg Viewty smart which runs on close system.
I think i will be getting which ever comes out first to replace my current i8510.

I8510 should be around RM2600~RM2800 if i'm not mistaken. I bought my last year with RM2700 (8G version).
Heard from other forumer here in other thread that Zitron has begun taking in i8910 stock now. Hopefully, the launch is near. I'll be getting this and the other LG Arena together.

You shouldn't make an assumption just because the staff at the shop doesn't know the launch date. Most of them only know how to sell phones they get from the main HQ. They don't even do research about the company they are working and its upcoming products. Try asking Nokia store staffs about the upcoming E55 or E52, don't be surprise if some of them tell you 'Got such phone meh?' . I feel like is a waste of time asking them question. You can get all the answer you want from the internet 100 times faster asking them.

Just read GSM arena's review of Omnia HD, it seems that it's just like another Nokia 5800 but with AMOLED i.e. capacitative touch screen which would make it a perfect combination with s60 v5.

But the form factor is something that is not so pretty and could have been improved...

100% confirm with the person have the retail phone....no camera protector and not metal case...shinny one

Dammit, when is this gonna be out. Pretty sure I'm getting either this or the Pre for my nxt upgrade, but still no release date...

true.. i jz called samsung mobile n after 10mins of checking said no soft launch or official launch for this phone in Msia.. sigh.. the customer service also said no date stated for this phone so really dont know when will launch.

So wait, what's the diff between this and the Omnia2? And ignoring price & release date, which one is better?

Omnia2 is still a long way off but I8910 is going to launch pretty soon. The main different should be the OS used. I8910 is running on Symbian while Omnia2 should be running on WM (if i'm not mistaken). Personally, i hate WM due to its in-effeciency on managing hardware resource. This cause the unit to run slower and hogging more resource. Symbian is well optimize for handheld device so effectively, it runs smoother and last longer than typical WM device.
