lately streamyx service in my area(kota kemuning) has been really eratic. sometimes i can actually strream msn videos eg.the guild. and sometimes i have to wait for it to load a looong time. my latency in wow ranges from 300ms constant to 900ms constant. same time different day. oddd... looks like the good ips are nowadays random

Raichu, I'm starting to think that the WoW LYN forums have more information about what is going on about Streamyx issues than the Broadband-2-user forums. Hehe....

Eh...u never did replied Eugene's (ekwk) question. Or will that affect the competition between the Tunneling services? ^.^
*
I miss something? what question?

I really don't take it as competition .. 2 different agendas ...

I know what you are going to say, its all about the money ... Listen, believe it or not, i dont even play wow, doing guild websites, this tunnel thingy is all more hobby for me, though expensive hobby. I've been funding and maintaining the LoTh websites all these years out my own pocket. Same with the Tunnel , i kept the rates at reasonable with the others. The special rates i gave are for the testers , and with those rates, i would like need 3x more user just to cover cost.

Most ppl who ran something like this started with 1 server. I started with 4 and moved it to 6 a few days later, I forked out out of my own pocket for 1 dedicated Server and 5 other servers just to see which does better. Most ppl did what 1-2 weeks free testing? I did almost 1 and 1/2 months of free testing. Never collected a dime, paid for all the servers out of my pocket.

I might not be as much as a guru like other providers, i just do enough that it gets the job done. Experimenting with different Datacenters, different server locations. Complicated? Whats so complicated with that?

I already have backings from a few companies that is interested what i am trying to do. As i told my staff, majority of the money is going to cost of servers, anything extra will go towards new server, i will not overload nor come close to overloading 45-55% server load max, well unless a disaster hits majority of my servers and i have to divert. lol But then again, im not too worried about that cause i still have dedicated servers that i own for the companies that helped out on standby JIC something does happen.

Im an ABC , born and raised in NYC , ex - US NAVY ,38 years old, and retired 5 years ago ( Thank u Apple and Google !! ) . Take it for what its worth, believe me, dont believe me, thats all up to you guys... Competing ... no need, im too old for that and dont want the headache ...

So with your question about it will it effect, i really dont think so, other providers made a good name for themselves already. They have loyal followers.

Yup we have a cluster that is under Jaring, some under AIMs and some from Singapore. The Jaring server cluster has been flaring up lately I suppose that is the reason for this.

I suppose the only way out is to open more Singapore servers since TM connection to other countries is fubared and Jaring is getting messed up due to TM route to Jaring within Malaysia.

Why is your infrastructure so strange??

Ta raichu. I posted before you finish your edits methinks.

Added on September 15, 2009, 9:57 pmOk, rereading it after taking a break. Again, thanks for the explaination. I was only gently reminding (although I guess it didn't come out quite so gently sad.gif ) so that Eugene can stop asking me about it. Heh!

TBH, I don't make any money out of GP, as mentioned earlier. Just a user as well as helping out in the forums.

But I guess I'm a bit of a "nosy parker" when it comes to ferretting out information about streamyx connection. Kinda comes with being Sarawakian and our habit of being good at gossip, info, grapevine...

Although, with the state that TMNet is in, I don't hold out much hope for changes in my situation until maybe 10-20 years down the road.

Now, just to grit my teeth until Friday when the suspension is over.

i think wat eugene meant in his question is that 'yours' is not raichu's own server but our own streamyx infrastructure

Please dont take it as i am taking it out on you or eugene. Im sorry if it came out sounding like it.
We all do what we do for different reasons, eugene put up a great service, his prices are higher than most but yet he still has his loyal followers and provide great service and options, same goes for the others..

The world is big enough for everyone .

Raichu : True that. smile.gif

Noyze : Still so bising u...isshhh... calm down. If resetting IP doesn't work, call them lah.

Then again, if you live over on northern end of town, don't expect good speed. The faster speeds seem to be over in Luak area (less population tongue.gif).

If thats what he meant ... what you expect when they hire yes-men and monkeys who say they know what they are doing when they dont .. ( No offense to malaysians ... dont flame plz! )

I remember when we first got ADSL . I was the first to get it in SP, they came over to my house with their cached up laptop and installed. They never got it working and couldnt figure out why. I complained and complained and insited that the problem was not at my end but at the exchange. Scolded them so bad they called the boss.

The boss told me there was no problem at the exchange but at my house. Asked the boss where he was and he told me at the exchange. I told him to go outside, 3 min later i was there with the 2 techs.

After 20 minutes of bickering with this guy , uni grad with a rm20k circut tester ( i knew because he told me about 20x in front of his boss ). Sure enough after a call from KL , the man with the 20k gadet went inside, 5 min later came back out and said, they wired it backwards which led to internal loopage lol.

My honest opinion, TM serously got ripped of by singapore when they first started with their lease line from there... singapore prob ended up selling their old equipment to malaysia and used the money they made from malaysia and bought the up to date equipment they used now and still with money left over !!! lol ... now... this is just my opinion... dont want to get flamed by SG either lol

But looking at how we derailed this thread... i think i better stop with my opinion ... tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

My experience with the techs over the years as been short of amazing. I remember 2 old men once from Telekom (phone) coming in and looking at my desktop saying that so many icons were spoiling it. Didn't get anything done until another tech for Streamyx problems came. Talk about dysfunctional.

Another time, their supervisor in Kuching was obviously hogging the phone and said this coy "Hello Sayang" when I called them after being given the helpdesk number. Blistered his hide.

Oh, Singapore? Hmm....the story I heard was that they were ripped off by the Koreans when they were first setting up the infrastructure nationwide for ADSL. And that they are paying for this mistake years down the road.

Another tidbit I heard was that there was tremendous space in cyberjaya that they were holding out for business users more rather than opening it to the domestic market. Mind you, that was like 5-6 years ago. Maybe the situation now has changed. DUnno.

Not a very regular poster but I must say that the situation with streamyx has been getting worse and worse and even with tunnelling (gamepath) I still get high latency and spikes. This last week was the worst.

Can't do anything but QQ to their techs sad.gif

Oh btw, gates 22x and 23x have been acting strangely. below 400ms in game but there were instances of freezes. Probably due to streamyx but I'll inform here just in case its something else.
