i think it's best if after u install ur newly not apple ram one, u do a hardware test. i did like that before, so, if anything problem u can go to the shop and try to change for new one. can get 1 on 1 change before 1 week.

Went asking around at Lowyat the other day and found that Compuzone has Kingston and Corsair and they would install and test out for you before purchase.

Mac RAM = RAM made by 3rd party manufacturers based on Apple's memory specification. I don't know what is the exact difference compared to normal RAM.
You are right when you say there is no such thing Apple branded memory. Even the ones that ship from Apple is Samsung/Hynix branded.

@megatron007 Yes Apple don't produce any RAM but what I meant from mac RAM is RAM that's been certified by Apple to be fully compatible with their product.
That's why Kingston have 2 brand:
KTA = Apple Certified Kingston RAM KVR = Kingston Value RAM (normal over the shelf ones)
Apple certified RAMs are more expensive than those normal ones.

QUOTE(mrbs84 @ Feb 25 2010, 03:58 PM) i upgrade mine to 4gb (2+2).. both kingston kvr-1066 just rm140 each :-).. may i know your ram speed, because i do upgrade to 4GB mushkin ram and its boost up my 1066Mhz to 1333Mhz, so far no problem but i got 1 panic kernel when my brother open everything and it stuck a while then kernel panic happen. i googling around and read people said that their battery performance drop a while but i don't think it still the same, 4 to 5 hour battery life for me. im using macbook pro 13" and mushkin enhanced 2x2GB by the way. price rm168 per piece.
