QUOTE(budgee @ Aug 12 2013, 04:50 PM) You buying a second bike to ride or to replace the Raleigh Ugo? How is the is the ride quality of the raleigh? I feel a bit draggy and heavy. Can feel the rolling resistant is there. Not sure if changing to Scwable BA or Durano may helps. Actually I am buying another one for my wife. Hence I can ride Tern when I am alone. |

Big Apple won't help as it will be heavy. |

QUOTE(surfsmurf @ Aug 12 2013, 02:36 PM) Fuah... You have expensive taste ah! ![]() Bike Fridays are built to last. They may not appeal to the younger set as their designs are rather "classic" and contemporary. Each bike are made to order and you can consider them as semi-custom built. The man responsible for BF in Malaysia is Dr And Ng of My Family Cycles Services. (He is based in Bandar Utama, music teacher and public health practitioner). Basically, there at least five models on sale here: Tikit, New World Tourist, Pocket Rocket, Tandem and the Pocket Llama. Pricing ranges from RM3,800 - RM9,000 depending on what you want to put on the bike. The bikes are with a lifetime warranty and My Family Cycle Services would back that up. As for volume per say, Bike Fridays are a rarity here in Malaysia compared to Singapore and Thailand. Sam |

My word, the Tern Eclipse X20 folding bike was tested by a bicycle courier rider who then sets a new record of 54 km/hour !!
Also known as the Pirate Ninja, its just such a beautifully made machine, that I think demand will outstrip supply. It has such a wide gear range from 25 to 107" and this makes the difference. So now we know foldables can be as good or even better than road bikes .. see below link:- https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=488400191243391 This post has been edited by budgee: Aug 12 2013, 08:36 PM |

Before I bought my Brompton, I was looking at Tern P18 or x10 as the frame is more superior than P9 frame, the only thing that hold me back is the colour. As for performance I test them and they ride fast, but not sturdy at high speed due to the frame design, if you need speed and folding, Tyrell fx is way to go but they are not cheap at all.
There was a few recall on their frame which also another reason that hold me back. Chain dropping issue and few of my friends had broken spokes on their knetic pro rims made me question about their QC. As for C7 or D8, personally i will go for D8 which i think it is the most bang of the buck of tern bikes, you get the TERN outside fold not the original Dahon fold in C7. You can get it for 17XX only and it will be very easy to upgrade to 10 speeds or 20 speeds. P9 is very unacceptable as you are paying alot and you only get a crappy grip twist shifter, many owners will replace them with thumb shifter for more performance. Others are really overprice for their quality and their value don't hold as good as Brompton. Why i choose Brompton in the end? 1. they are proven to last 2. very unique folding 3. extremely compact folding 4. replacement parts are very easy to get. 5. I don't need speed for riding a folding bike, i want to enjoy the views. (I manage to hit 50km/h[GPS] on down slop) 6. I can fit the bike under my work desk as I cycle to work everyday. The only drawback is the weight 13kg for a M6R. I got my parents and girl friend into cycling after they ride my brompton. Just my two cents. ![]() My Precious Rides by Ian =D, on Flickr This post has been edited by ianlti: Aug 12 2013, 11:45 PM |

guyz i'm wondering how much to upgrade tern D8 8 speed to 10 speed ? i'm in the dilemma of either getting p9 or D8 :-(
Because the price tag for D8 really attractive and almost 1k different, not much the upgraded of P9 parts really worth of 1k ? |

Because the price tag for D8 really attractive and almost 1k different, not much the upgraded of P9 parts really worth of 1k ? Ride the bike, don't be a slave to the bike with upgrades and modifications.. Spare the "crappy" gripshifter, the Tern Link P9 has everything that is made to perform. Consider it as an investment for long-term enjoyment.. Sam |
