Commissioned the wool flannel trousers today. Flannel is a lovely material, so nice to look at and so evocative of coziness in the cold months. The thing is thick like a carpet, about 14 oz. A few months back Canali in The Pavilion had just this shade of flannel trousers on a mannequin and I was amazed by it. Finally, I thought, flannel trousers in the flesh. The softly mottled look was so distinctive. My flannel has a pronounced nap. AL kept stroking the cloth, and he encouraged me to do the same, and indeed the nap was there. He kept saying the nap lets snow slide off the garment.
I wanted a pleated waistband curtain, and even provided the cloth for it, but AL said it’s useless and that they only made sense with trousers without a waistband, etc. The waistband curtain on Zuperpent was merely added on to the waistband, and I could find no purpose for it. I let him win the argument this time. Zuperpent was the template -- this will be pretty full. When I commissioned my first suit, I could not have pants narrow enough. I impressed upon AL that I expect narrow ones. It was modern, I though, to have “slim fit” pants. It flatters. But after paying close attention to how trousers feel and look, comfort is just too important. Then I chanced upon Zuperpent, which showed me that full pants can look elegant IF you have The Line. |

You should really wear a jacket with your braces. Braces work similarly to brassieres. They are meant to be hidden from sight and can be very sexy when flashed though.

My Acorns are on the way.
Added on August 14, 2010, 11:56 pmFor those of you who have never seen light grey flannel trousers in the flesh, Canali in The Pavilion has one on display in the window inside the mall (not the one facing outside). Sublime. This post has been edited by kotmj: Aug 14 2010, 11:56 PM |
