No, it's on the outside, for all to see. It's next year's hottest trend.

Yes. Shoulders can be taken in by brave and well-paid tailors.

I don't know. I paid RM140 to a tailor in Bentong to do it. It took a lot of coaxing from me. He was reluctant to touch the shoulder.

But really, altering a RTW to fit is a lousy thing to spend time, persuasiveness and money on. I'd just get something custom made from scratch.

Tux&Blazer Alpha Angle is perfect for someone like you. Undiscerning, ignorant, and clueless. There are many lousy tailors in Malaysia, and they are certainly competing for a place among the worst.

Sure. I "interviewed" the proprietor and his wife. I asked about the construction of their suits. These guys have no idea. They had all these Holland & Sherry stuff which they proudly tell me would set me back RM10k, but when I asked what goes into the suit as fusing, interlining, taping etc. they could only say "stuff suitable for suits". They send the measurements to some factory filled with Banglas and pass the suit on to the customer. These guys are small business owners, not tailors.

The only reason they are still around is due to people like elnino.

Nobody needs to pay 3k for a fantastic suit in this country. Bespoked 1U will be happy to make you one in acceptable wool for RM2.3k. The fit will be perfect.

Ah Loke only works if you can give him artistic and technical direction with the firm hand of a someone used to giving technical direction. His house cut is awful.

thanks for your suggestion, will go there in the near future.i'm just putting aside that amount of money, coz honestly as you had mention previously, i'm clueless on this stuff. if 2.3k is enough, than it's even better.

Added on October 14, 2009, 12:28 pmkotmj, what's the price range for shirts and pants at bespoked?and surcharge for plus size?looking to tailor another few sets of office wear this weekend.
*
I don't know their prices for pants, nor extra size surcharge. Shirts start from RM180.

Added on October 19, 2009, 12:00 amBut I personally do not find much chemistry with Bespoked 1U. The tailor I found I could talk to and be myself is to be found in Binwani's The Curve. They have a very large fabric selection. The tailor is Malay and is intelligent and knows his stuff. Workmanship for trousers is RM130, shirts RM110, french cuffs add RM20.

40 bucks a shirt + priority service is an incredible bargain. I had two pants made in Kuantan for 60 each. Cloth from Binwani's.

Hey, any idea how much it normally cost to alter my jeans?
I've got a few jeans but the length of it is kinda long, it's hard to get length that matches my height perfectly. My waist is around 29 and height is around 174cm. Really hard to get jeans that fits me nicely sad.gif.
*
It depends on how you want the seam done. Typically the tailor will charge you a percentage of the price of the jeans. I think most will charge 30%, or roughly RM70 to shorten them. If you want the seam handsewn with a saddlestitch it will cost you what you paid for the jeans, For enthusiasts, this is the only way to shorten jeans.

Like the collar, but the pockets are not so good. Also, the cuff should be made narrower so it rides higher up the wrist.

You can just bring it to someone and have them reposition the cuff button to make the cuff narrower.

You can also have the pockets removed. It has nothing to do with formality.

i think you miunderstood me Jind
my quoted price by them was RM120 for shirt, 160 for pants. These are workmanship prices only. If include their cloth, it would be RM320 above for shirts and RM360 for pants.

I was asking if the workmanship prices quoted to me was reasonable? 1 thing i notice though the Chinese guy was reluctant to even talk to me when I said I am new to this and was just asking.

Thanks!

The shirt pictured above only cost RM150 for everything.

They make you wait 2 weeks for a pair of pants? I got a basted suit made up in one week; ditto for the shirt.

Is this the tailor that does non-fused shirts?

Maybe I can drop by your town one weekend and you bring me to him. I want to feel how a non-fused shirt is like. All the characters in Harry Potter have these drapey, floppy non-fused collars.

Somehow their collars are very tall with long collar points.
user posted image

Torso is baggy. Is this the traditional English cut? Look at the ties!
user posted image

Hardly anyone buttons the collar button.
user posted image

See how soft the collar is?

But I prefer her in a dress.
